SONIC BOOM

I thought I was the only one who liked the Knuckles redesign. I also like the scrawny legs because it strikes a balance between a new design and retaining enough of the old knuckles to still be easily recognizable.

Sega released a behind he scenes for the game and the show

Mike Pollock is the GOAT of all time Eggman voice.

Is Mike Pollock the VA for the Sonic SATAM series? If not, you can stop now.

But really though, it doesn’t need to be absolutely hilarious (I’d like it to be though), as long as the show can make me smile I’ll be cool.

Mike Pollock has done excellent work, out of everyone from the 4kids cast to keep they did a good job of not losing his talent.

I don’t really care about the new designs. What bothers me is that the developers have stated an intention to bring more of a focus towards exploration and combat. These always end up being the worst parts of any 3D Sonic game. Sonic Boom might actually be my reason to get a Wii U but I fear it might be lacking in the twitch platforming department.

Well half the reason tends to be that the combat and exploration is usually not very developed and feel tacked on after the actual Sonic parts.

Still though, no one gets Sonic for the combat. Exploration…eh, technically. You can consider blasting through different routes as exploration I guess, but I doubt that’s what they’re talking about.

I liked the 16bit games for those two very reasons. I liked bopping off of enemies in sync mid-air to explore some cranny over there.

Sonic Team Experience ‘Discomfort’ with Sonic redesign

I can see Iizuka’s face when he walked into Big Red Button’s studio. Probably the look on Champ’s face in this gif.

You mean they wanted to fuck with the characters’ iconic looks even more than they did? Jeez.

Still hate those damn designs. Just keep the characters the way they are now.

Just make a Sonic game where I can run fast as Sonic/Tails/Knuckles and we’re good. Sonic games shouldn’t be story-driven, they should be gameplay-driven. >_>

It’s a Sonic game based on a TV show. It being story driven is a given just to appease fans of the show.

Eh, last time we had Sonic game with an emphasis on story and combat, we got the Sonic RPG on DS. Don’t really want a repeat of that.

And wait, TV show?

Sonic Boom is also the name of the new Sonic cartoon that will premiere on Cartoon Network later this year. The new game serves as the show’s prequel.

…

Eh, whatever. I’ll give it a chance instead of blowing up over it. I pretty much already know I’m not gonna like the game though.

The game really just looks to use a lot of safe generic gaming conventions from the N64-PS2 era.

Use two characters to pull switches and open a door, wow what innovation!

Fuck innovation! I want a fun game. Tried and true platform conventions has stood the test of time. No need to be fucking with it.

I know the feeling of skepticism when you hear "story and combat focused’ for a Sonic game, but I feel like they could make a cool adventure if they really are sticking to Ratchet/Jak/Sly style level design. Some semi-funny dialogue/exchanges are really all I’m asking for as far as story is concerned.
