for those who may have missed it

Sonic Lost World - GC 13 Trailer

and there’s new gameplay footage from Gamespot

I never actually realized the plethora of content in Sonic Generations. While I’ve always wished it had more stages, I realize now that was more of a “need for more” thing rather than a complaint. You got 9 main stages (which basically amounts to 18 counting both Sonics), a shitload of AMAZING soundtracks to unlock that you can play on any stage, hundreds of challenges for each stage AND each Sonic, a shitload of skills for each Sonic, a good amount of the most awesome and memorable bosses from the franchise, a copy of the very first Sonic The Hedgehog…I’m excited for Lost World, but they really need to make a direct sequel to this game with more stages. I’m surprised they didn’t take advantage of making some DLC stages, cause myself as well as many others I’m sure would have been more than willing to play them.

Thinking of stages like Flying Battery Zone or Stardust Speedway on this engine, as well as some remixed tracks of those stages…my mind would be blown. I’ve been having a sort of nostalgia attack from this game lately. If you’re on my friends list then it’s probably saying that I’ve been playing Generations for the past 2 days straight…and I have. Honestly, if they just took every single old Sonic game and remade them each with their own respective stages on this engine, I would be throwing my money at Sega without hesitation. Imagine the past/present/future concept of Sonic CD on this engine? I’m actually sad/surprised that they didn’t have a stage in this game from CD besides the Metal Sonic battle.

If anything, the soundtracks have been motivating me to finish all of the challenges. Every time I unlock a new one it feels like a little piece of my childhood. I can instantly recognize every one as soon as I see the name, and being able to listen to them as I play through these revamped versions of old zones is nothing short of heartwarming. This game has made me want to go on a Sonic trip.

I went out and bought Unleashed today, contrary to all of the bad shit I’ve heard about it. I never actually got to play it, and loving this franchise as much as I do I felt like I was obligated to at least see it for myself. They really should have just made a movie out of this rather than a game. Or both, but without the shitty werehog parts. Considering how awesome the intro vid is, I had pretty high hopes for the rest of the game.

But playing it for the past 2 hours that I’ve had it…I’ve only gotten to do 1 Sonic stage. And those parts are actually really really good. It even gets to 60fps sometimes, and it looks fantastic. The speed you can acquire is insane, and I’m sure the levels get even crazier and prettier. Yet, again, I’ve only gotten to do one of these in the past 2 hours. And the other hour and fifty-two minutes has been spent doing various bullshitty things that I have no interest in doing. I don’t care about talking to towns people. I don’t care about exploring. I don’t care about most of these cutscenes that I CAN’T skip, and most of all I certainly don’t care about running around as a giant hulking fur fest who is for some reason seemingly weaker than his normal counterpart. That shit doesn’t even make sense. In his hedgehog form they present him as this insanely fast and deadly badass, destroying hundreds of robots in seconds just by dashing and smashing into them, yet when you’re the big giant werehog you have to swing and kick and punch for 3 minutes just to kill 3 enemies? Ok.

I consider myself a pretty open-minded guy, and I’m all for changing the formula to a game franchise…but only when it is done right. And sadly, this was not done right in the least bit. If you’re going to take the player from being a fast blur of speed, down to a slow hulking mass of destruction, ok fine, but there is a difference between making a moveset feel “hulking and powerful” and making it feel “slow, bulky and impractical” against enemies who can’t be killed quickly without doing a certain random input of buttons, that sometimes moves too fast even for someone who plays fighting games regularly. It just doesn’t make any damn sense.

I’ll probably trudge through all the werehog bullshit just to see the normal stages though…cause those are actually really fun. It’s funny how insanely better this game would have been if they literally just took out the werehog parts and kept it about normal Sonic.

Unleashed Day Time is by far probably the fastest game out of all the 3D sonic games (arguably the whole franchise probably) when Sonic is 100% and someone is running him at full potential. If you haven’t seen speed runs of the game then you can’t even begin to comprehend your statement yet.

Holy fuck, that jump he does to the rail at the end…

I’d pay full price for a version of that game with all the night stages taken out.

Say waaaaaaaa!!!

Kakipi is really good speed runner…You haven’t played unleashed yet so I only wanted to post up one of his runs so you weren’t spoiled on anything else in the stages. Have fun with Eggmanland. =D

They haven’t announced if that Deadlier Six edition is going to show up for NA yet…Gonna need Sega of America to ‘COME ON STEP IT UP!’

Well…speak o’ the devil SegaAmerica just put it up

More footage of Lost World and this time the 2nd vid is 3DS footage. Neither have music but they do have sound effects

3DS footage looks amazing, and it actually differs greatly from Wii U footage yes!

30 minutes of 3ds footage from gamescom…this time with sound and music!

Game looks amazing.

TL;DR New controls are ass.

I hope this guy just really sucks and is wrong.

Thats really the only account so far that I’ve heard that bashes the controls…interesting.

edit: what in the hell… some of this guy’s complaints seem kind of dumb. Like the complaint about having to think to much or having too many buttons.

Damn, that collection looks insane.

I still stand by Unleashed…that’s a damn good Sonic game…warehog stages are easier and more enjoyable once you grind your levels up and unlock all the combos…

But the daytime stages? Sigh…still gorgeous and satisfying…like someone else said…one you max out Sonic and master the terrain of the stages and all the short cuts…its just fun to play…bottom line

I never had fun with the Wherehog stages, and having to do them back to back while getting one Day stage here and there was a real fucking buzzkill.

Unleashed is like Sonic Adventure 2 to me. I dealt with the bullshit the first time through the game and after that only ever went to the lvl select to pick out the gems, while everything else “gathered dust.”

Don’t think I’ll ever play through Unleashed again, especially not with that Sonic Gen PC Mod that puts all the best Unleashed Day Stages into Generations…Yea fuck ever playing Unleashed again.

I did not mind werehog, however I think unleashed would have been the best sonic game ever made if they ommited it in substitute for more locals
