That would be kinda sneaky and dumb if it was. I would think that ‘Sonic Lost World’ would count as a cohesive whole…it certainly doesn’t sound like
and after doing a quick look up it looks like Rich from IGN actually asked Sega about it. The third game won’t be out until at least next year.
We might not hear about until near the end of this year or more than likely early quarter next year. I’d imagine Sega would want to give Lost World enough room to do sales…unless the game isn’t in the same genre…
Gamespot did a 15 minute look into Sonic Lost World at SDCC
It shows the first 2 levels again plus the new casino level.
Also I got caught up in the Worlds Collide Storyline going on between the Megaman and Sonic comics and
Spoiler
Big whoa at Eggman tossing Dr. Light out of the Wily Egg with the pure intent to kill him. Eggman gives no fucks. The fact that Wily got upset that he tried to kill Thomas is interesting. Can’t wait for the conclusion…this has been a pretty fun arc
It’s taken Sega so long to get Sonic right in the 3D space. I mean even subtle but important stuff like balancing Sonic’s navigation speed through tricky traps, camera controls, proper depth-perception in 3D, or giving him the ability latch on to the edge of platforms. It’s small fundamental areas that the Super Mario series has managed a smoother transition when dealing with similar issues through the years.
And there’s the story and atmosphere of the games. I know the serious plot-routes comes from market demographics, comics, and anime; but every possible attempt is a result of trying too hard and made something really corny in the process. And then there’s friends, I don’t mind Tails and Knuckles but lets just stop at those two and nothing more.
I’m not saying every Sonic 3D game is bad, but most of them have been terrible up until Unleashed. Every one them before that point has been bad, with maybe an interesting gameplay mechanic mixed-up in all the flawed stuff.
But Sonic: Lost World feels like a great “take a few steps back” approach. I don’t know if the devs looked at every flaw in previous games or not, I don’t know if looked other games for a new control scheme (AC comes to mind), but this feels like it could be great. Not just decent or good, but potentially great.
Wisps are cool, but I’d prefer the game without them. Anyways, SLW looks amazing, hope it’s a system seller and I’ll cop both versions most likely although I don’t plan on getting a Wii U till it gets a price drop and more games.
