^I love it. It’s really solid. Best non-Mario kart racer since Crash Team Racing. Game deserves a sequel and more Sega characters.
Yeah SEGA All-Stars racing is a rather fun game. Has a lot of stuff to do for 1-player if you’re in the mood for them.
Only DLC available are-
1- Play as Ryo in a Forklift (in this case, his All-Star is just the Forklift attack)
2- Play as Metal Sonic and acquire the Death Egg stage
Both come at around 10 dollars or Less I think.
I say go for it and hopefully you enjoy it =)
THe music selection in it is great to boot-

@Sonichuman: What bothered me the most about that last reply was dismissing SA1. SA2 mostly looks better technically and is most importantly 60 fps, but SA1 was the last Sonic game with most of the original staff from the 4 Genesis games intact. The person who created Sonic and handled the art direction left the franchise and the company after SA1. Naka strayed further away from the creative process after SA1, and the staffers behind SA2 were headquartered in the US and were new to Sonic games (iirc). That’s like Metal Gear without Shinkawa, and Kojima just supervising everything from a distance. I don’t get how that doesn’t register for a supposed Sonic fan. If you’re just saying that ‘classic Sonic’ wasn’t fun to begin with and you better identify with the newer stuff, I can understand dismissing what SA1 represented, and I can chalk that up to a generational difference.
As for everything else, I can see how one might prefer SA2’s level structure but in SA1, you had the option to play the game any order you wanted to reach the Super Sonic ending. In SA2 you only had the option between the Light and Dark groups. I have to side with the option of user customization. But I think the constant here is they both had mediocre-to-bad sub-games that messed with the enjoyment of a Sonic game.
Oh no man not at all lol. Sonic 3K is my favorite sonic game period with Sonic 2 being a strong second. Nothing that has been released recently has come close to that game for me no matter how much I enjoyed SA, SA2 and Colors. I mean most of Oshima’s style that he implemented before leaving is still basically still there in the main characters besides some small changes here and there relative to the game at hand. As for game design process I don’t doubt that’s part of the reason why Sonic Team’s work started to become so bad that Naka just dipped during it’s lowest point. Pretty much the only big name that’s left is Iizuka and he’s been trying to dig the series from out of the hole it’s gotten itself into for the past few years.
SA was a good game for its time but it just ended up not aging gracefully. I’d like to see another shot at an adventure title that actually isn’t a buggy mess but Iirc I talked about that way back in the older threads with specs. They’d have to at least spend 5 years on it minimum in order to get it right and I don’t know if Sega is actually willing to put forth the time an effort to do it.
Thanks Tizoc and FurryCurry for the advice. I’ll pick it up soon.
I thought he was really missing in SA2, especially after the last game. SA2 was still cartoony but really started to lean toward grim-dark, before it went overboard with Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic 06.
Anyway I think I get where you’re coming from though I can’t agree wih most of it.
LMao this just made my day
I actually enjoyed it. The level designs are solid and the speed element is definitely present. The consensus I got from reviewers is that they disliked it because it wasn’t another Genesis title, which it’s not, but I guess the title “Sonic 4” was misleading for some.
It’s definitely a Sonic game and in my opinion as good if not better than the recent 2D DS games.
I wrote a review shortly after the game released here:

scratches head shrugs walks away
Famitsu put up new images of CITY &^%*ING ESCAPE stage-
If anyone can make a better one, please do, this is one I made on the fly-
this. i personally feel sa2 is ass if you’re not using sonic or shadow. and sa1 just sucks straight dick after you beat sonic story. that’s why my personal favorite 3d sonic game will forever be sonic colors followed by unleash.
sounds like Sonic Heroes is your game then, best of all three worlds imo…
I liked E-102,Knux, and sonic’s story…bump that man it was Knux…IN 3D!! as a kid I did a merc out when I could glide IN 3D!!
I might get blasted for this but yo…Shadow had his own full fledged game…tehe
also my favorite sonic game is Sonic Generations
Sonic Generations - Japanese City Escape Trailer

This one has the version of Modern version of City Escape playing in it. I like the classic version better now.
Edit:
I only just now realized today that Sonic Generations is going to release for 49.99. Sounds good to me!
Sonic Heroes was ass. The best parts of the game were the times you didn’t play it. (Cutscenes.)
I like it, but I don’t love it. The soundtrack is generic and terrible which is my biggest gripe (Generations is sounding promising, though). I don’t mind the physics. It doesn’t feel very replayable. It’s been a while since I’ve played it so I can’t give a thorough opinion of it. It’s good enough for me to look forward to episode 2 as the game overall has a fairly sizeable room for improvement. Makes me wish Sonic Team would actually work a bit closer with the fans on this one seeing how it’s supposed to live up to the games that made Sonic as great as he is now.
Sonic 4 was incomplete, im waiting on my other half Sega…
even though at this point I think its safe to say that there will be no Episode 2 and even if it come out people would still be playing Generations DLC…
SG updates: Chemical Plant, Metal Sonic, bonus stage for 3DS, (unconfirmed) Stardust Speedway
This molasses-slow site is the best link I could find right now http://www.tssznews.com/2011/07/14/first-screenshots-of-sonic-generationss-chemical-plant-metal-sonic/
hyped as hell for generations. Reserved mine so I get Casino Night.
I still don’t know if SG on the 3DS is going to release the same time as the HD versions. I’m gonna have to check our lists again but last time it wasn’t even there yet.
even though the screenshots are horrible quality you can tell chemical plant looks fucking sexy. The detail and work into this stage…I think I’m frothing at the mouth a lil bit here. I suspect Metal Sonic will probably be on par with the GUN truck chasing after you in terms of probably ridiculous. Too bad Metal Sonic doesn’t have any homes to tear through. Looks like we should probably be expecting a new trailer soon i guess.
Sega posted a render of Classic Metal Sonic
Awwwww he looks so cute~
