This is a little writing exercise/game that’s currently going on another forum dedicated to fanfiction (http://z14.invisionfree.com/The_Fanfiction_Forum) and I figured that it would be a nice exercise to bring to this section of the SRK forum to help generate some ideas and concepts that can be used in fanfics.
A few simple rules:
- No more than one prompt per post. Don’t want to overwhelm things on the first go around. If that’s too limiting, please let me know and I will adjust accordingly.
- You cannot post more prompts until someone else has responded to your last post.
- The prompts can only be for an SNK title (KOF, Last Blade, Fatal Fury, etc.)
- For those choosing to respond to a post, please quote the original post so that we know what has already been answered.
There’s no limit on the minimum or maximum length of your responses as long as the story snippet satisfies the prompt. Prompts can be of any genre (humour, romance, drama, etc.)
Here’s a brief example of what I mean…
Prompt: Maxima is faced with the unthinkable.
Possible Response:
Maxima was… stunned to say the least. According to his analysis he had conducted a minute ago, he should have been able to secure the victory. “T-that’s… h-how?”
He barely registered Kula’s affectionate pat on his right shoulder. “It’s okay, uncle.”
“She only had a 0.0311% of…”
“You know, you’re starting to sound like that bastard Igniz,” mumbled a disinterested male voice.
“That was hitting below the belt there,” replied Whip with a slight wince.
K’ merely snorted once while Maxima just stared at Diana’s Straight Flush which beat his Four of a Kind. “I don’t suppose I can get out of this one, can I?”
“No way. I put my dignity on the line when I promised to act as your personal cheerleader during your next rugby casual if you won the last hand. You’ve gotta pay up,” said Diana with a victorious smile.
“You know, if you can’t do it, I’ll lend a hand. Kula, fetch the razor for me.” Although the young man tried to remain as disinterested as usual, he had to admit that this was a little fun. Especially the look on his friend’s face.
While Kula left the poker table, Whip took out a small winter hat with the Canadian flag stitched on the top. “There there… if your sideburns don’t grow back by the next KOF tournament, I’ve got you this cute little hat!”
“That was not funny, Whip.”
