Okay. Dante with Wesker’s gunshot assist has some really good setups for combo extensions and difficult-to-blockables (might be unblockable if timed correctly but pretty hard to time) Wesker can convert off of a Jam Session or Weasel Shot hit pretty easily and Jam Session helps Ryu fend off characters above him with strong downward moves like divekicks or helm breaker.
Semi-off-topic but is Dante hard to learn? He seems viable as a third but that’s entirely dependent on how much time I’m going to have to invest in him. I have a basis fro which to build off of for Akuma but Dante would be completely new.
I’d say Dante’s kinda hard to learn. You hit the nail on the head, his usefulness is entirely dependent on how much time you put into the character and how comfortable you are with his moveset.
I run Hsien Ko ( a), Ryu ( y), and Wesker ( b). I run this because HK can get meter very well and once I get her gold form I can get in with Ryu very well. Wesker is of course for the staple OTG for throws and combo extending.
What seems to be the optimal assist for Ryu? I don’t use them but I usually just stick him with Tatsu. I’ll probably give Akuma the same thing if I put him on the team, unless there’s something better for each of them in that situation.
It all really depends on your team. I use Tatsu as a combo extender. If I want I can use Hadoken for mix ups since it is a slower projectile. I’ve yet to find a good use for Shoryuken assist since it lacks invincibility and is had to combo off of and doesn’t distance them from you like Hulk’s Anti-Air assist does.
**I’m looking for any Ideas on an extended Ryu combo using the Skrull Stone Smite assist and or X-23 ankle slice assist. I run X-23, Ryu, Skrull. So after my initial DHC combo Ryu would then be on point with these assist to use. I need a better combo using Ryu. **
Ankle Slice is easy to combo off since its OTG.
If you used your wallbounce, launched them, and brought them back down you can call Skrull, throw a fireball, then Shinku. In the corner you can do the same thing but with the Tatsu super.
For X-23, midscreen you can fireball->Shinku or try Donkey Kick. In the corner the same stuff as Skrull applies except she doesn’t use your wallbounce.

When I used X-23 I used her ankle slice to OTG after Air S. Then I’d just continue the combo.
Well I just need one more character on my Ryu team. I want it to be another character to help Ryu’s game. Surprisingly Nemesis is the other member of my team. Why him you may ask because he allows me combo off Shoryuken M or L. I needed this because A) If an opponent is jumping in on me I can punish with a combo instead of just one hit. B) It is single hit so less damage scaling and finally. C) I can keep Ryu on the ground. Instead of doing launcher I can call Nemesis and Shoryuken M. Therefore I get two damaging hits and I can ground series into donkey kick and then ground series into Hurricane Kick H, Shinku. It I’m going for a combination Super then I’ll Air Series. Nemmy’s rocket super is long enough I can recover and super again after the forced ground bounce.
Well I have finalized my Ryu team. It’s Ryu with Hadoken, Strider with Varija, and RR with Log Trap. My team reasoning: RR can help Ryu get in with the log, the log allows Ryu to combo off of Hado SRK as long as they are not in the corner and can combo off of SRK H. It allows Ryu to start at free combo if the trap hits from further away. Strider is there to cover Ryu’s greatest weakness, runaway. Despite it causing a hard knockdown that Ryu can not combo off without burning a meter if you aren’t directly under them, it allows Ryu to restart his rush down since they are back where Ryu is best, on the ground. Keeping flying opponents grounded is key for Ryu to become a nice threat. Also in the corner you can combo off this assist.
Never mind as if now I run Ryu not sure of assist, Tatsu at the moment, Morrigan DH assist and Shuma MR assist. I was wondering what you think of this, how can I improve it. I love the Shuma assist for its a great AA and a good beam. Morrigan is just to build meter for Shinku Hadoken.
Wondering if anyone has any idea or an assist that helps Ryu in his Denjin mode. At the moment I’m using Haggar’s DL assist. I want to find a way to really make Denjin worth playing.
I’m interested in that as well. I like the synergy between Ryu and Wesker and have been looking for someone to use with them. Currently trying out Hawkeye since seeing Chris G use that team.
Currently I’m in the lab to figure out what that perfect assist is for Dejin Ryu since I find Shuma Mystic Ray to be my perfect assist for Ryu in general. I’ll get back with results.

Hey, I can’t seem to find the assist I really like for Denjin Ryu. There are so many assist and I can pretty much use most of them for him but I’m on the fence about it. I would like an assist that maximizes the combo potential while in Denjin. I’ve come to see if anyone has found a great assist for Ryu for when he is in Denjin be it a neutral assist, combo starter, extender or one that creates a mixup or reset. You are also free to ask me any questions regarding certain assists and how they work with Denjin Ryu.
You dont need that. Wasting assists to attempt a big denjin combo is worthless.
His damage scaling will be at max when you use an assistance.
If you want a big damage combo, try this: jS -> st.M, st.H, Roundhouse, Hadouken L, Denjin -> Denjin loop.
Big damage for one meter. You can deal something like 1k for 2 meters and build back 1 meter while at it.
Add any assists later if you manage to. Always try to finish with Shin Tatsu.
