The shooter games thread returns! The Empire Of Ammo says, EVERYBODY GETS SHOT!

Got dayum, Crimzon Clover is incredible. I think I’d appreciate doujin shmups a lot more if they were more like this and less like Touhou. Sucks that I have to use Joy2Key in order to use my stick with it, but whatevs.

Also been playing these two beauties I got in the mail this weekend:

The other game is Fast Striker on Dreamcast, just came out. It’s a great game, and I love seeing independent devs still putting stuff on DC, so I had to pick it up.

If you like indie you should check out the Dux stick I made (I even had Rene Hellwig sign it, of which both he and Tim (his brother) developed Fast Striker and of course Last Hope)

i recently picked up sin and punishment as well, it was 17$ on amazon so i snagged it. still havent given it a go, but soon i will.

I have recently learned that if you power up a single, live possum and swing it in a figure-8 motion, you can also achieve the same effect. Yes, it was few and far between back in the day. Now you probably fill a standard notebook with the names of upper-tier shooters. Good times for those who get shot.

Oh yes. I’m gonna be on thisssssssssssss…!!

Okay. I’m having hell finding anything for the crimzon clover game other than replays. Somebody throw me a bone here okay?

Well, the only way of getting it that I can post here is this site:

If you’re looking for…cheaper methods, you’ll have to seek it out a bit more.

This oughta work. Thanks dude.

Bookmarked, definitely going to buy this soon.

Ugh, still waiting on a release date for Radiant Silvergun and Bangai-O HD. Haven’t been getting shot as much though due to playing Etrian Odyssey 3.

is it me, or does this thread title change everyday?

This is the first change it’s had in years.

It’s just you. I changed it after Furry Curry mentioned that I should add in the Empire of Ammo.

if you still need it pm me

crimzon clover is really dope. i unlocked the blue ship, which i like better than the red. i got to stage 5 and then died. im not really sure how the game works 100% as of yet and im mainly playing on simple which doesnt have the break limit or whatever it is called. from what i have noticed it seems that you can suck items towards your ship if you activate your lock on. also, it seems that your multiplier increases if your bomb is at max and you do not use it. your ship has a max lock on and when it reaches that max it will make a noise so you can just listen for the noise instead of looking at the bar. those are the only things i have picked up on. original is a whole different monster and i have not unlocked unlimited mode yet.

baller, i’m gonna check it out today when i get out of work.

O ok, I thought it changed 5 times this week. But anyway, How do ya’ll get better at shooting games. Is it about learning the map mainly, or is it 100% aim. I see videos online of people just running around and cappin ppl. When I run around like that, I’ll wind up not doing so, and more often get shot up.

Crimzon Clover has a pretty cool and straightforward scoring system. You gain multiplier bonuses by locking onto enemies, and you get the best multiplier rate by using max lock on. There is a frame rate display underneath the green numbers (your multiplier) for the duration in which said multiplier will last.

Now here’s where the fun sets in – activate Break/Double Break Mode and milk the FUCK outta the game!! Or just kill the enemies however if you don’t have Break Mode meter. BTW there is some strategy involved with how/when you use Break Mode, as it does have startup. I believe the startup for Break and Double Break is around 30 frames IIRC but don’t quote me on that

Ya know I don’t know if you’re trolling or not when you post in here but this is almost 100% strictly about old school 2D (in gameplay not necessarily in graphics) shoot em’ ups or shmups (games like Gunstar Heroes and Metal Slug count too). So if you need help with FPS there are a few threads dedicated to specific games and they can probably help you out.

Now. There are exceptions to the rule. Some FPS/TPS games are straight up about shooting and getting shot at… a lot. Examples would be Serious Sam, the upcoming Bulletstorm (ftw!), and Vanquish. We might talk about games of that ilk from time to time.

So don’t be trolling. This is the Empire of Ammo. Holy Land. Respect the bullet spread.

PS. Thanks Star!

Practice, practice, practice. That is how you will get better. Depending on the type of shooter you are into depends on how you practice. Me, i’m more of a carpet fire or “Bullet Hell” type, so I have to fine tune my fingers. Once I can dodge the patterns, I can shoot whenever I feel like it and save the big guns (And bombs) for whenever I want. If it’s FPS like Call Of Duty or so, You better break out your books because you’ll be doing some learning. You’re gonna want to know where your help items are and where you can ambush someone from. Landmines saved my ass ALL day in Duke Nukem games. Well, that and firing a bomb down the hall on somebody too. Hope that helps.

@Furry Curry: All day mang.

i found out another cool thing about crimzon clover. when you die and you enter your name for the score board, in the background there are tanks rolling around, if you select your letter when there is a tank behind it the tank will explode and you will get some extra item points. pretty nominal but i thought it was a nice easter egg.
