Oh, also, for anyone interested, shmupmame (a version of MAME designed to reduce input lag in shooters) was recently released, which makes Ketsui and DOJ playable:
Now i didn’t mean to make it sound like those kinds of games are shallow cuz they arn’t. They’re just becoming a lot of the same is all, for me at least. They’re also too fucking hard anymore. I don’t the time or patience anymore to dedicate to just one CCing those types of games anymore much less going for score. It’s a real turn off when I can’t even begin to tackle some of the bosses in the back half of some of these games, much less the bonus bosses Lookin at you Mushi.
Ah, I hear ya, I don’t think I could ever tire of these games though, I love the challenge. No better feeling than finally conquering a boss or level that’s given you problems for weeks or even months.
Anyways, thought I’d sure my latest find with ya’ll:
The board works great, and I just replaced the battery on the B board (looks like it had never been replaced since it was manufactured in 1999:confused:), so we’re good for another 5 years of action!
Edit: And I also understand the joy of conquering a hard boss or section thats been troubling you for a while. I just found that as i got older the time and desire to beat those challenges in these types of games wasn’t there any longer and i found myself having a lot more fun with the more methodical styles. Like last one I really got a kick out of 1ccing the whole thing with was Gradius V. That was good times.
OMG!!! THANK YOU TO FURRY CURRY FOR RECOMENDING R-TYPE DELTA!!! That game IS the best PS1 game behind Einhander!! I’m lovin this!! Again, Thanks dude.
I hope all my fellow shooter fans got shot for Christmas. I tried, but got shot with a different kind of weapon. The vodka bottle. I’m feeling better now even though my house feels like an Icebox. Time to get in the cockpit and battle the forces of the Bydo empire.
Indeed it is. I thought for sure I had played it before, but I don’t remember any of this. So far, I’m just on the second stage and this is everything I want. Bullets, sneaky enemies, and RAPOST is in full effect. I just wanna know how many of you busted out laughing on the second stage when that big ass piece of buildings start falling into the water behind you? I’m gonna love introducing my homing to that stage. He, on the other hand, will NOT be happy. He ain’t all that on shooters, so this is gonna be his personal hell. I wish I could record him playing. He gonna be mad.
The gimmick here is that using the triggers rotates the action. So a wave of bullets will appear as just a line when you rotate around. Very neat. Also very pretty. Not quite bullet hell either. 240 points.
You’ll have sooooo much to play on the 360. It’s tiring really.
So I was at Ci Ci’s tonight and they had a Strikers 1944 (or is it 1942) cab. It’s crazy how I will have to drop what I’m doing to play an arcade shooter. It’s like, “Oh? Are those 2D graphics and big explosions? Excuse me, I have to go get shot. Now.” I got shot too with this little kid cheering me on and telling me I had to blow up the boss. Well obviously little man, obviously. That’s when I decided that I need to have my own custom MAME running arcade computer cab thingy. The feeling of standing up and being close to a screen with a joystick and buttons under your hand- that’s just something that home consoles or handhelds can’t reproduce.
Hahaha leaning, hunched over a cabinet…Your hands sweating, wiping it from your eyes. Yea…it’s just not the same kind of intense when the stick is in your lap lol.
Oh hellZ NO!! If I had MAME running on a cabinet, it would be OVER. Now I have to see what kind of Audio and Video hook-ups they allow. Oldschool in surround sound plus bells and whistles, (I.E. jukebox and laser lights) and I would be making money at home Just for being there. Come to think of it, I should go ahead and move anyways. I’m starting to feel like I need more room than I presently have.
BTW, where is your sig from? It sounds familiar, but I might be hallucinating.
Yeah the memories I had when I played Raiden Fighters on a wooden cab in a random arcade at my local mall. I was just blown away. Tons of shit exploding at all times, ammunition come out of my plane at an insane rate thinking wow Tiger Heli on NES doesn’t have shit on this game holy fuck. Good times.
