Yeah, Raiden Aces is strangely very cheap(but haven’t found it locally yet) but Raiden IV is still a good $40 used at game shops, eBay is still wanting over $30 for it at the moment.
Right now I am trying to sell my Xbox for a Japanese one, out of my tiny collection of games, I have to sell my Deathsmiles because it’s region locked, SSFIV, Halo Reach(thank god because mine is the Legendary Edition) and Wartech are region free.
I did not enjoy Raiden IV. Not much of a Raiden fan anyway so that didn’t help. BUT OMG Raiden Fighters Aces is that shit. Game is so bad ass.
Where in Toronto are you? Try EB (or GameStop) or Future Shop / Best Buy for Aces. HMV might have lowered their price on Raiden IV as well. If that fails, try Game Centre on Yonge near Bloor, or A&C games on Spadina (just south of Bloor).

Anyway I did set up my old CRT (TATE style) in my bedroom for some Ikaruga. It’s been a couple years since I’ve played this game. I’m rusty as a Mofo. Real embarrassing. I got my father sending me my Saturn and my Radiant Silvergun as well. Gonna get down on that. That games balls hard its been a couple years for that one to, I’m sure I’m gonna get tore up.
Real talk, I’ve been getting into Pinball FX2. While it’s obviously not a shmup it’s my new arcade genre of choice at the moment. I may not be getting shot but I’m still aiming for that high score!

As I played the demo I only thought to myself as the screen filled with colorful death, “Christmas. This game is so Christmas.” It also supports 4 player local co-op. Damn shmups! You are better than cheddar cheese and I love cheddar.

While the game is so Christmas, I do wish the light show could be turned down a bit but I guess that would reveal that it’s not as deep as a Cave game. Don’t get me wrong, for a $1 this game is awe-some but don’t go in expecting Deathsmiles or anything. It does give me hope that someone else picks up on mixing bullet hell and twin stick shmup and expanding it further. It’s truly a blank canvas and someone needs to pick up on that shit.

Holy shit Score Rush is awesome. Such an amazing, relentless seizure. One question, though: are the scores displayed on the menu screen global, or local? I originally thought they were global, but after seeing the 260 mil run…probably not.
Local. The Share option lets you send a message with your score in it to friends though. At least there is that.
I’ve really wanted to mix the aiming style of arena shooters with normal horizontal scrolling levels. I at least want to build an engine and test level after this semester is over to play with the concept. Definitely need to link up with a spriter though, cause my spriting skills are horrible.
Sweet, I’ll see what happens, Christmas season and the VLX(SWEET PURCHASE!) tapped me out at the moment lol and finally getting some decent offers for my 120gb Elite 360 so I can try to get either a Jasper 360 Arcade or Slim Arcade from suruga-ya. There are tons of choices from Yahoo Auctions Japan but I’m not sure about them.
Damn 2,000 JPY more for Limited Edition and it only comes with double soundtrack…luckily I’m saving a bit from ordering from Ami Ami…what there’s no LE/first print region lock like galuda II right?
If you guys haven’t heard the news about Ketsui and DoDonPachi DOJ (and Black Label) you are seriously late to the party.
I’ve heard of these two titles and do want but they’re region locked for the 360 and I’ve stopped buying games for my PS2.
Took at quick look at the shmups.com forums, and it looks like the “big news” is that Ketsui and DDP:DOJ are now playable in MAME.
