Donāt recall, specifically. It should run in any newer MAME release. From what I remember, the sound was not perfect. But it runs fine.

Hey FurryCurry, are you still playing Nanostray 2? I saw your initial impressions in the DS thread - Iām hopefully picking up a copy this weekend, has your opinion of the game changed much since that post?
My opinion has improved. I finished all the Challenges. Funny how the last 8 seemed sorta easy. Havenāt finished the main game but iām getting better with each play. Thatās like my favorite thing about the game. Itās textbook shooter and it reminds me why I like getting shot so much. Thereās a rush I get when I make it through stages unscathed. That is so ill to me.
The best control set-up is the old school digital way. Touch screen is just BAD when you are playing the horizontal stages because whether you are left or right handed, youāll still be obscuring some of the screen. At first I tried the digital control at max ship movement speed but I found myself crashing into things a lot. So I bumped it down one and found the sweet spot. Lv. 2 speed works on like every stage. Itās a shame though that the sub-weapons werenāt implemented better. Itās such a big wtf. But the main gun is really solid with the three different shooting modes. It gets fun once you get to the controls and you are switching the modes around and fucking ship up all around you.
So itās worth the money. The positive reviews on the internet are a testament to it as well (any review thatās bad is probably just because the reviewer doesnāt like old school shmups). I really hope that they make a third game and fix the problems and work harder on the art direction. Like they can do without the simulator touch games and in place of those, expand the challenges.
Games use different chips/bios/insert whatever here. Some games arenāt correctly emulated yet, etc.
You can go to MAWS (google, romless site) to find out the games individual status on MAME, and if it has any problems.
Off-topic, but I always laugh everytime I see Ricther Belmont wailing out on that guitar.

Itās sequel Iridion 2. Itās not 3D. Itās an isometric (?) shooter. Ya know, top down. And it delievers. A bunch of levels and weapons. Way better than 3D.

Not that I donāt love to give out info but this I what I think you should do.
Go here http://www.shmups.com/ And dig through the Xenocide files and read the different reviews. Us just giving you a top ten or twenty list of fantastic arcade shooters takes away from what I think was one of my favorite moments when I was deep into getting shot, discovery. Even if a game reviewed isnāt 8 or better, you should still try it because you may like it even more. Plus you get a lot of history on that site and youāll find yourself becoming quite the shooter connoisseur.
Hardcore Gaming 101 is also a great site to check out for reviews/history lessons.
I just downloaded Nitro Ball. Iāll let you know how it is once I beat Ninja Gaiden DS in 5 hours.
BTW, Shadeās list below is pretty good. You need to play crap shooters though. YOU SHOULDNāT AVOID CRAP SHOOTERS. MOFO GET SHOT PROPER!
