The Shinobi Secrets: Ibuki Video Thread

There really isn’t a lot to say, I guess I’ll try and point out some bad habits.

I don’t know why you have to do so many jabs before going into her MK Knee/special. Especially against someone like a crouching Chun Li. I mean, I hope you would know by now that her swipe kicks whiff a lot on certain characters when crouching. Either do less jabs, or if you really need that many before going into MK end it with a neck breaker or something.

You also never really follow up the Back MP anti air. I mean, I saw you actually try and do something like once or twice but you never really followed up on it. Should point out that even when they go into that one hit juggle state, you could still do something else.

Um, just a pet peeve of mine but, I don’t know why no one uses ultra 2, lol. Like, for that just use Ultra 1 to scare(?) them if you’re never gonna use it.

A lot of times after Kunai (or just in general) you do like 3-4 jabs into knee > neck breaker. Instead of just doing the better target combo for more damage/stun and all that stuff. You actually do this quite a bit, you even did it like 3 times in a row when it was obvious that the target combo was going to hit and be the better choice.

I’m sure there’s a couple other things, like the EX Neck Breaker at start, the bad spaced one towards the end, and you holding down for a greedy focus level 3 after a big combo instead of just jumping in with HP for less scaling and more damage, but whatever lol. Just pointing these things out, don’t know if this is what you were looking for but these are just things I noticed.

I’ve had such wonky luck with the target combo whiffing on the mp, I’d rather just go for the gauranteed slightly less damaging combo. I’m so happy they changed it in arcade edition. I like hit confirming the ultra also if it isnt through an obvious fireball. I never ever find myself in a situation to use grab ultra unless I’m fighting a balrog.

And yeah, thats the friendly factor. Some obvious flagrant meter waste and silly stuff, but there’s some good and bad in there. A player’s only as good as he is on his worst day too, so there’s always something to learn.

I had some good matches recorded at the last NCR and some other tourneys, so I’ll post some non friendly ones soon.

Thanks for the advice. very much appreciated. : D

hello everyone, so i have recently pick up ibuki and i would like if any of you can lend me some tips
here is one of my matches i have a long way to go lol
any help will be greatly appreciated

 1. Please, no random full screen neckbreakers.
 2. Learn your setups. After a backthrow, I don’t think hien is a good idea. Dash up instead to stay at a frame advantage.
 3. Always cancel your super jumps into a normal to reduce landing recovery (4frames vs 11+ frames).
 4. Don’t do point blank sweep. You have better options than this and blocked sweep is very punishable.
 5. Learn your combos. cr.LP cr.LP cr.LK xx EX tsumuji is not a punishing combo. Learn Ibuki’s target combos for maximum damage/stun/punish. Also learn how to cancel TC4 into neckbreaker, not just dash up throw.
 6. Learn the spacing/timing to keep your vortex safe from reversal dp.
 7. Stop jumping.
 8. Stop jumping into random neckbreaker.
 9. Stop using FA as your goto poke.

In the Ibuki vs Cammy matchup, you should consider playing more patient, a LOT more patient. Stop pushing buttons, stop jumping around, and think before you do things. It looked like you were just pushing random buttons hoping to hit your opponent. Instead, you should react to what your opponent does. Try one or two games where all you do is try to keep your opponent out. ie: practice spacing and zoning. Using your antiairs to keep them grounded and pokes to keep them from dashing in. You’ll get better a lot faster this way, than doing random neckbreakers and mindlessly jumping at your opponent, hoping to get a combo.

Dude that match is almost a year old lol. I know you’ve gotten better than that, post something more recent lol.

thx for the tips bro i have to kepp al this in mind

lol i dont have any recent matches recored, i only have one of yours vs juri, that i will be posting if you dont mind.

Juri? I never touch Juri lol. I think the only times we’ve played where you’ve played Ibuki is when I picked Ryu. Usually I’m just like, trying to show people what not to do so I don’t know if they’re really good for analyzing lol.

Hit me up whenever if you wanna play some games to show off or whatever, I don’t mind.

no you are playing ibuki vs some other juri, not me lol

Oh. Alright lol. Why would you even save that @_@

Yeeah, I know what you mean about her Target Combo missing, but that’s just something you learn to space out and stuff with practice. Like yeah, it’s gonna miss on so and so if you cross up with kunai or lk, it’s gonna miss on so and so if they’re crouching, etc. I was just bringing out the lack of U2 usage. I mean, in all that time I didn’t see you go for it once, I personally hate U1 and try to avoid it at all cost.

I also didn’t know they were buffing her target combo? Like what’s different about it? Does MP stop whiffing on the second hit or does it hit more crouching opponents or something? I’ll test it out in a couple of weeks when I’m in Cali I guess.

Yeah! I think it stops whiffing on the mp. Also, are you going to be at the next ncr? Would love to get some matches in.

Noppe ;( I’m actually from Miami, FL and me going out of state is pretty rare lol. I actually got really lucky and got to chose were I wanted to go so I decided on SoCal so I can get in some AE practice before CEO (which made the switch to AE when it got announced) lol. If you want I’ll be @ Round 1 starting the 21st till the 25th lol. I know it’s far but w/e.

Not sure if this has been documented anywhere or not, but has anyone tested if her swipe kick loop or far standing jab work after her target combo on the new fighters? I’m gonna bring my camera and record some matches if I ever play any of the new people. Is there anything anyone wants me to test out?

You can do st jab after tsumuji on the twins for sure. I’ve never landed it on Oni and I don’t know about E. Ryu.

@littlesushi You’re going to CEO?! I should try to hit you up. There’s no other Ibuki players around Jacksonville, so it’d be cool to see what I can learn.

Yeah Il’l be at CEO. Look me up bro it’s all good. I’m usually at all of Jebailey’s tournaments (I drive from Miami). Except I wont be at this one because it was kind of last minute and I got a free plane ticket to California so I’ll be playing AE lol.

/edit Not to plug in anything for no reason but you should try making it out to his monthly tournaments. It’s been around 50people for SSF4 and that’s even after Marvel has been taking all the hype. The numbers are prolly going to sky rocket after AE comes out.

College is over for the better part of the year, so I’ll be playing occasionally.

 • finding it difficult to adjust playing on 60Hz, and a screen larger than 7"

Cammy’s like that are gonna be in for a shock when AE drops June 7th.

Can only play a Cammy that’s decent online, usually I only get to play one in AE. Didn’t realise how stupid the match-up was in Super.
Like, I played a few sets and won almost 4:1 overall, but I’d always get perfected every now and then. I’m really hoping Yun can’t do anything like this in the future, as more people use him.

Yun is gonna be pretty similair. He seems like a mix of Rufus and Cammy lol.

Cammy is nowhere near as scary anymore. I mean, don’t get me wrong, she can probably still be an okay threat if they got decent pressure and maybe 1 bar to scare you, but nothing like that first round will ever happen again. She got the worst nerf in the game, but it was well deserved.
