No worries and I appreciate you taking the time to post a response.
Sorry I just needed to clarify. It may not have been obvious from my initial post but I wasn’t directly referring to these games in particular. I’ve played numerous games against some of these guys so prior conditioning was what eventuated with the decisions I made in some of these games, granted some were still poor choices as you have pointed out in your post.
In hindsight yes those options you mentioned would’ve been far better than the ones I opted to do. I just want to add that nothing I do is accidental. Mistimed possibly because timing is always an issue somewhat when you play online but I’m not going to use this as an excuse. I like to think that everything I do has a practical logic to it. I’m not one of those players that arbitrarily throw out moves for the heck of it.
Duly noted :).
Thanks. Will strongly consider in the future.
The ex kazegiri was meant to be an ultra but obvious fail from my part. As per my previous post, I’m still learning to try and maximise damage on punish and it is obviously something I need to work on for future battles.
Also btw, Ibuki has unblockables vs Fail Long. Once you land an untechable knockdown, you can basically cheap your way to victory (this is why Fail Longs should pick U2 for this matchup). This is even easier if you have meter to burn because the timing after an EX neckbreaker is fairly easy.
Are you trolling me? Because I swear that I just read that you said that the third highest ranked Ibuki in AE ?Tonkotsu?//BP/36140/MASTER is "awful"
Lol, so, what does that make you?
(Yes, I already know you’re highly ranked online.)
And no problem, uploading’s what I do.
[Also That ranking is a few days old, he was only about 50 BP behind the second ranked Ibuki, so he might be #2 right now, only behind Iyo.]
How am I trolling “you?” I said the guy is awful, I don’t care how much BP he has online or in the arcades, he’s just bad. No amount of BP is going to save him. He’s hitting people with like day 1/2 mixups and he can’t even SJC into Ultra 2. What if he plays at an arcade with nothing but terrible people and just racks up free bp? BP on XBL/PSN doesn’t really mean anything, and to be honest, you can just auto-pilot with Ibuki and you get a ton of BP in the arcade so 36k is nothing.
Being top 5 Ibuki on XBL doesn’t really mean anything to me either. I hope they reset that shit when AE comes out.
Once again, it was never an attack towards you. I know I gave you some shit when I played you on XBL forever ago (then I was trolling lol) but whatever it’s all good. I, and I’m sure a ton of us appreciate what you do.
/ninja edit - For the record, there’s only 2 Ibuki’s that I’ve ever thought were good/unique. I personally think everyone else including myself is mediocre/bad. That mainly has to do with me thinking Ibuki is terrible in herself lol. She’s such a boring character.
Lol, well, I don’t remember playing you, but that’s besides the point, must have been way back in Vanilla. Other than the leaderboards, I only recognize your tag from seeing you vs JR. Lol.
Anyways, I can’t really say anything to that, you seem set in your opinion of Ibuki / Ibuki players.
We can agree to disagree, I see a lot of Ibuki players as good players, but then again, I don’t play with her.
I also think she looks fun to play with, a bit repetitive maybe, but fun, once again, I don’t play with her, so I’ll take your word when you say she’s boring. lol.
Just curious, is Iyo one of the two Ibuki’s that you think are actually good?
Because, personally, I think he has the best Ibuki I’ve ever seen.
And for the record, I didn’t mean any offense either, I just thought “awful” was a bit strong, since there are tons of actual awful Ibuki’s out there that deserve that word. lol
I think that’s the main problem with people looking at Ibuki players. Like, anything she does and people go crazy. It’s like everytime I get on srklive or the pjs channel and I play, the chat goes crazy.
I think one time I played you and you tried some ghetto like full screen demon flip into raging demon and I messaged you saying something about you not being PIKACHUAKUMA and then you said something about him being ass lmao. It was a bit ago lolol.
Umm, I don’t really know how I feel about Iyo to be honest. I think he racked up all that BP when the game was new so that shit was freeee. I personally think he’s boring to watch, I also hate that he uses U1 on like every match. I don’t necessarily think he’s bad, cause he’s not. It’s just that he plays super lame and super safe, which is extremely boring. But I guess he did main Dhalsim so whatever lol.
/edit - I dono, maybe it is impressive to hit people with all this mixup? lol.
I don’t think he’s a top player, he LITERALLY is a top ranked player, that’s what I meant…I understand I don’t play Ibuki, I don’t see what you guys see, but I know for sure you can’t equate Toncotsu to some random online akuma that only teleports and does jump back fireball, let’s see one of those horrible Akuma players get top 3 in AE. It’s not gonna happen.
It’s crazy to think that any player in the top 3 of any character is flow chart or awful is kinda silly imo.
I don’t know from experience, because like I mentioned, I don’t use her at all…However, I will say this, I do play Viper, and I can apply exactly what you said of Ibuki, to Viper, 100%
Yeeah. It’s ALMOST the same with Viper except that I think she’s way better when you actually learn how to play her. Every single match with Ibuki feels like a mission lol (when you’re fighting someone that knows what they’re doing).
I’ve been friends with FlashMetroid for like 8 or so years now (went to the same high school) and he always kept on telling me about how good Ibuki was gonna be and she was just gonna rape the charts. I told him that after the 2nd month or so we weren’t gonna be seeing any Ibuki’s in the top 50’s and that’s pretty much what’s happening.
Yeah they earned their ranking but the ranking itself is meaningless. this is gonna end up being a pointless and philosophical argument though so agree to disagree. Although I will say, don’t be a fan if you are looking to compete.
Toncotsu doesn’t seem like a total scrub. I just wish he wouldn’t be able to get away with unsafe, unsolid, or otherwise scrubby tactics. Such as:
super jump at the start of the round (almost every round)
blindly jumping at opponent (see vs Ryu)
mash EX kazegiri (see vs CViper)
mash backdash (every match)
blindly dash or command dash up into jab or throw (in fact, last round last match, CViper tries to reaction punish with U1, but unable to thanks to lag I’m assuming)
unsafe hien (punishable by ultra, no less; see vs Ryu) but I’ll give his opponent the benefit of the doubt that it caught him by surprise. But still, 105dmg is hard to justify a possible free ultra.
Basically, this guy starts off every single round with either a jump, superjump, dash, or a command dash. He doesn’t play very solid and his opponents seemingly don’t punish him for it. Every time he’s pressured, 45% he backdashes, 45% he mashes EX kazegiri (if he has meter), 10% he actually respects his opponent’s pressure and blocks.
4000-5000+ PP is very easy using these kinds of tactics. They will work for now, but not in the long run, and definitely not at a tournament level in an offline setting. I would know, since I used to play exactly like that. Incredibly lame and annoying and avoiding midrange footsies at all costs. I may have randomed out a few good players, but it didn’t exactly get me very far.
I’ll give the guy some credit. I did like his basic vortex and pressure game, and those japanese 1f links, but many times he doesn’t really deserve to be pressuring his opponent.
