The Shinobi Secrets: Ibuki Video Thread

wow rofl…Kaotic dragon @ evo …nice fail pause

seriously where are all the Ibuki’s!!?

YEAAAAYAAAH!! go go Buktooth!

They’re all getting pwned. Just look at NerdJosh.

Buktooth ibuki coming up now. hurry and watch. and kaotic dragon was weak

edit-buk won. Beat Gief throw spamming penguin kicks and air kunais.

Sounds like he played the matchup perfectly.

Yup, thats pretty much how I play that matchup and how every Ibuki should. I see you on that twitter chat btw

pffft geif is so cake to own as ibuki :stuck_out_tongue: …goddamn those penguin kick spams man lol

Sad thing is that was the only decent Ibuki match so far. Slow as hell but the other 2 was crap

dude all of them were horrible :S…seriously spam Penguin!!? like really…and on who, Geif!?! like two throws and she would’ve been dead as a punishment from PK spam…sadly this geif sucked lol

That’s exactly how you should fight Gief. The only thing that would maybe have been better was if he tried hard to get super, but that wasn’t necessary. Also i don’t think a lot of Ibuki players realize how that super can change matches yet.

Ohh woot! just relized that am really tipsy! lol…i though it was Kazigiri EX …don no why i mistook that with PK haah

man super would’ve been goood

Ohh to ma sheeetsss…and after wards to the beaaaach!! yay! hookers all day long and beer…gnight

Hey guys, haven’t been playing much but my Gen friend has recorded a couple matches of ours, nothing special but he’s pretty skilled so that’s reason enough to watch i’d assume, he’s like top 10 on live, but take that with a grain of salt.
YouTube - whosnkn’s Channel

That’s a link to his channel, you can find a couple matches there

any video of bucktooth from evo? can’t seem to find any…

There’s one video of him vs. Gief. I can’t remember if it’s on Youtube or Ustream but it’s definitely available to watch. I’ll have to look for it. Ibuki wasn’t really on the stream much minus Buktooth any way.

I didnt get to watch Evo until the Semi’s. So there were some Ibuki’s playing, Wish I coulda seen that.

At the beginning of the first round against dudley you get counter hit to like 30% until you ex dp him. And thats with dudley dropping most of his combos. Your blocking needs A LOT of work.

In the second round you do a target combo then jab and you jump back. Ibuki is a rush down character and is good at applying pressure, when you jump back you literally surrender all pressure, and at high level when its hard to get in on people youre really giving up a lot by doing that.

Also I suggest you use something other than the launcher target combo for pressure.

that jump back was a mistake in execution it wasn’t intentional. And you’re definetly right about the CH situation, thank you. More critiques and suggestions are welcome btw.

Some videos from my constantly wip ibuki vs a couple of 10k+ BP Japanese players.

vs Ryu

The Ryu one particuarly annoys me, always seem to give away too much damage to people who aren’t really doing anything at all. Got to work on that.

  • bonus video vs Gen because it’s always fun to see the vortex working to its full potential:

The way I approach ryu is to stand within your dash range and bait the fireballand you can either fadc in and go to town their is no reason for you to jump over ryu’s fireballs, your jump is to slow anyway and it can easily be dp’s or stay within your slide rang which is just outside of his cr. forward. So you need to have your spacing down, the only problem with this is ryu’s faster walk speed and ex fireball which you need to make sure you block

Jumping over Ryu’s fireballs are fine (though slide, neutral jump, and f+MK are all probably much safer), just be sure to stay out of Ryu’s dp range. Stand inside Ryu’s cr.MK to bait his low forward and jump to the other side of Ryu, aiming your j.LK at his head. It’s almost impossible to get an autocorrect dp on this. If you’re standing outside Ryu’s cr.MK range, use superjump instead. You can also mix it up like super jump inside cr.MK range but toss a kunai while jumping. This is mostly shenanigans though, so I wouldn’t expect it to get you in everytime against a good Ryu. Last time I played mass games against a decent Ryu, he gave up trying to reaction dp and stuck to random jump antiairs like j.MP, fishing for a juggle into ultra/super.

Ibuki vs Ryu is probably in Ryu’s favor, but you still did make a number of mistakes in your match.

0:34 - When focusing projectiles to build meter, don’t be so reckless and suddenly try to poke Ryu with your sweep. Play defensively instead until you regain your health.
0:35 - always dash cancel your FA. The recovery is shit and there’s no reason not to.
0:46 - if you’re going to punish tatsus with cr.HP, at least SJC into something. You could have had an easy mixup setup but you threw it away.
1:00 - random far.st.HK poke?
1:56 - again you keep trying to use cr.HK as a poke (bad idea) and Ryu gets a free jumpin. Use cr.HK to punish pokes. Ryu didn’t show any indication of throwing out a cr.MK. There was no reason to use cr.HK here.

  1. A bit overreliance on EX kazegiri to get you out of Ryu’s pressure. This was clearly not working very well. Each blocked EX kazegiri gave him a free lp.dp , ex hado. You were very fortunate that he didn’t use his ultra.
  2. Poor jumpins. Almost every jumpin attempt (mostly j.LK) was countered with Ryu’s dp. Aim for Ryu’s head so it’ll stuff it.
  3. Very predictable, especially on the block strings. Each time you close the gap, you do some block string like cr.LP st.LP st.MK xx hk.Tsumuji. Incredibly predictable and pushing Ryu away to safety each time. Mix that shit up. Ibuki has a good rushdown game. She’s not all about the vortex. Mix up high/low hits with cr.LK starters and TC7 and f+MK. Cancel some combos into command dashes to stay on your opponent and keep him on his toes.
