The Shinobi Secrets: Ibuki Video Thread

thanks, I have tried the 360 but couldn’t get the speed right i think, will give it another go. I was having some success with half circle from down to up, but then lost it.

knowing that a low kunai hit can give an opening for U2 is a massive help in my case.

You can super jump cancel into a target combo?

Here are my recent PSN matches. Missed a lot of st.HK, Kazegiri’s, and my Tsumuji’s don’t always come out after st.MK. But I seriously don’t know what to do in these match-ups. Couldn’t predict Blanka’s horizontal ball to punish with neakbreaker, and electricity kept pwning me. Also haven’t learned Blanka’s hitbox on wakeup to vortex him. Sim’s st.LK, and slide pressure seems to keep me in blockstun, not sure what to do there either.

Loving this thread. Lots of helpful players around. Greatly appreciate any feedback. and Mingo’s IB vs Cammy post was superb.

Think he just meant that he had problems super jump canceling that specific target combo.

I have like a 10% success rate of SJC to U2. My problem is that I don’t put in enough input for the U2 and instead do an EX Kazegiri. But maybe the 360 idea will help me.

Hey Tammeo, I just saw you online about an hour ago. I tried to play a ranked match with you but the signal was too weak so I left the room.

yah man, i kinda agree with u

PS: Kreative i dont know if those might be new to u or not, or even useful or not. those are other two ways to land ultra 2 as well

-from sweep distance or even further, quick jump into ex kUnai XX link into U2

-just jump in deep with anything into U2 (example mk)

Match 1:
Your vortexing/rushdown was very poor. Almost everytime sim wakes up, he wakes up for free. Mistimed vortexes, whiffed kunais, just simply standing next to him on his wakeup… not much pressure going on. You need to work on this.

Match 2:
better vortexing, decent rushdown. Main problem is you had no idea how to counter yoga fire + teleport. You countered it the first time well. Slide under the fireball then far.st.HK him out of the air. And the second time you st.HK him out of the air but then just stood there? You can follow up with kazegiri, or cancel/SJC into dash or jump and start vortexing/pressuring. Then the rest of the match he just yoga fires and teleports you to death. For one thing, you need to avoid his yoga fires. He shouldn’t be able to continuously trap you like this all game. Slide under them, neckbreaker under them, U2 through them. You have tons of ways to get around them. Use your mobility.

Match 3:
Why do you always let Blanka go free on wakeup? You really need to work on your okizeme game. Don’t stand next to Blanka. You have a clear advantage when you knock him down. Start up your vortex. Do some sort of meaty attack. Maybe wake up throw. Anything besides just standing there like you’re trying to bait something out. And you really really need to work on punishing blocked Blanka balls. Go into training mode, record the dummy doing a horizontal ball, and practice punishing it with neckbreaker over and over.

All 3 matches: you really need to stop doing random neckbreakers. Srsly.

This is just a general overview for now, but I’m sure you have enough to work on.

Ill try the ex Kunai into U2 sometimes. Thanks

man what happened to Devil Jin and Drakefang? I wanna see some damn vidz!

Perhaps their at evo? who knows… what I’m wondering is what happen to all the ibuki vids! there’s like nothing for the last week or since momochi got beat… I want more sako ibuki! :annoy:

I couldn’t make it to Evo (just got a new job) so won’t be seeing any Ibuki out of me. I would have really only picked Ibuki if the matchup specifically called for it any ways. Like vs. a Gief or a Honda.

Probably just gonna have to look forward to Buktooth for Ibuki considering he sticks with her and doesn’t go back to the familiarity of Fuerte. There’s probably some other random Ibukis in the works that might be there and might do well on the stream. Who knows.

Who would you have main’d with? I saw you as a dedicated Ibuki main

Let me first start off by saying the following: Your footsie game is 10X better than mine. im jealous. I’m going to watch these a few times and try to see how i can improve mine from this. That is a definite flaw in my ibuki.

I watched the cody, fei, and adon matches and heres what i picked up.

That Cody match you were predictable as fuck and it was making me cringe. heres what you did the entire time:

lp links to mk to spin kicks to possible mix up low hit. if you landed the spin kicks you would lk dash to attempt kunai mix up. It was really predictable and thats why lots of your combos would not connect. Ibuki has so many fucking TCS she can SJ away for safety or just straight up jump up to either empty jump to more mixup/throw/overhead or aerial attack overhead to apply more strings. Kunai zone more and mix it up VS cody when you’re being aggressive. Remember that Cody is balls under pressure. He only really has three possible options for pressure. Block, tech throws, or EX zonk and EX zonk takes away either an option to FA or tech throw similar to juris FB storing.

Now, take a look at your adon and Fei Long matches. Notice anything different?

You vortexed 10X better and threw in different combos, approaches, aas (air throw and agemen) and your vortex mixup was ambiguous and not OBVIOUS.

I loved the U2 reaction to cody projectile and your footsie game though. Thing is, ibuki is not meant to be defensive…hence, why her footsie game is balls. Play it safe to start off and get a feel for your opponent but once you see that opening…don’t let up.

In the future though, post matches where you lose because it looks like any advice anyone gives you wont “contribute” because its hard to critique a win. It would kind of be like Daigo asking us to critique his Ryu after beating momochis ibuki…WT? lol.

Hehe I’m training hard but yesterday night was a bad night for me… almost got crushed by the same ryu ten times (and he was predictable as hell but i cannot react to him) funny thing is that when i stop thinking and rush him out i won 5 times in a row. then he picked dictator (predictable with him also) and I start to lose again…

I def need to go to the training mode and learn how to punish all the specials

deep j.mk into U2?!
for real?

this.

I also tried the 360 movement, no luck, then tried the old buffering the QCF as you press HP and was getting more success. time will tell.

Dont Jump:

Well thanks for watching, I actually lose against Bison, Rufus, and Chun (our bad match ups lololol, coincidence? I THINK NOT) but anyway I just posted all the videos that were uploaded of me from that night, not like only the ones were I won or something. I know theres sometimes where I clearly messed up the vortex and what not :C im just trying to never let that happen for now but as you said from the other matches, I do know how to do it and use it effectively.

I really think kunai zoning completely sucks though  jumping back during pressure is just giving up the pressure and neutral jumping is just asking to be anti air’d so thats why you dont really see me go for that.

Thanks for the compliments on the footsies though, I feel thats what most people need improving on, everyone just starts playing sf4 with no real understanding of the actual fundamentals you know? Improving your footise game will make your skill sky rocket.

Here are some of my scrubby fights I’m trying my best but for some reason I can never get the timing down or spacing down online for links. Sorry for terrible quality all I have is my webcam.

VS Rose

VS Adon (First Adon I’ve run across online)

VS Boxer (First boxer also.)

I know I need to learn more of the regular combos and learn to get them off in a fight, and I’m very lacking is spacing.

Edit: also sorry about the terrible sound quality.

Mairuzu: Yea dude, for real

Deviljin: hey man…shit srry that u couldnt make it to EVO. maybe next year man.

now i cant wait for BUktooth Ibuki and see wut will happen

Unwatchably bad quality but I can tell you 2 things.

 1. You don’t combo
 2. You don’t punish.

If you land an air attack especially one as heavy as j.hk, you should immediately jump onto a target combo preferably tc4 lp-mp-hp ender
If their wide open like when rose whiffed that air throw, hit with most damaging combo.
