The Shinobi Secrets: Ibuki Video Thread

I agree that low attacks may be important but don’t get the wrong ideas about people not wanting to crouch low against Ibuki, because her low game may not be as effective or whatever.

For one people are not going to just stand block against you because inviting that cr lk into combo is just way to stupid and obvious. I main Vega and his only viable low attack starts at 8 frames, yet still no one is stupid enough to not crouch, because inviting that low attack is just dumb. As a matter of fact I believe that if you do cr lk -> lk tsumiji on a standing opponent fairly close, that you can easily get the standing jab into st mk into w/e ender. This will surely deter standing on wakeup, if you get hit by that combo once.

Also not crouching against Ibuki also gives her better range on her TCs and her standing jabs which is also bad for the other player. Crouching against her is good.

Also there are FOUR character where the second hit of TC4 WILL NOT hit the character if they are crouching even if you are as close as possible. These four are Guy, Viper, Blanka, and Rose.

On certain characters if you are at certain distances away the second hit will also MISS if they are crouching. I have made a list of this if you guys want it.

Took waaaay longer than it should have, but got 'em up. After watching a bunch of these losses, I don’t think I can really disagree with anything. I got everything I need to work on. I thought I got a little better, but now I really doubt that’s the case. Anyways -

Next time I get the chance to play, I’ll probably do a lot of training mode again. I’m having a difficult time with throw techs and get hit with obvious throws, because I couldn’t get it down right. (As seen from the obvious spam throw on my command list.) I also feel like I start to lock up once I start getting caught up or feel pressured if I’m getting closer to a corner and being spammed with something while in it. Any ideas on how to get through this?

Im a viper player and I subbed this dudes youtube account because he had some cool vids. Today, I go on youtube and get treated to some juicy Ibuki videos I thought you guys would like. YouTube - Franky1221HK’s Channel

Ibuki sux gaiz~ :party::party::party::party::party::party::party:

Well I have another video of me playing against a good Abel, showing some stuff. Enjoy.

^ Ok I watched the Ryu and Ken videos.

Again, STOP DOING RANDOM NECKBREAKERS. Here I’m seeing an average of 3-4 random neckbreakers (usually full screen!) per round. And even against Ken who threw wayyy less fireballs than Ryu did.

  1. Your combo selection is still poor. You still use TC8. Hit or blocked, you don’t follow up on it at all. Ibuki has a powerful rushdown game. There’s no reason to push your opponent to safety after just one combo. You should be, no, you NEED to be in your opponent’s face ALL GAME.
  2. Very very poor punishment. Ryu whiffs stuff, or especially flowchart Ken over here whiffs a hp.dp. What do you punish with? A throw? What the fuck? Learn your damn punishing combos.
  3. Unnecessarily taking chip damage almost all game. Ibuki has tons of options around fireballs, especially when they’re not used as pokes. She can neutral jump forward jump, with/without kunai to match the meter gain, slide under them, or FA them. There’s no reason why you should just block a fireball and eat the chip and give your opponent free meter. Last round of the Ken match you even lost due to a full screen fireball that you failed to jump over? You should just go into training mode, pick a shoto as the dummy (preferably Sagat) and record it spamming random fireballs at random speeds and then try to avoid getting hit by any of them.
  4. Your defense game is better, but still not without major flaws. I can still notice you mashing ultra or kazegiri or EX kazegiri anytime your opponent is in your face. It seems you got hit by safe jumping Ryu almost every single time. Do you not know how to block high against jump ins?
  5. Poor play of the poking/spacing game. While at top level play you’re probably going to get outpoked by Ryu’s cr.MK and Ken is going to control alot of space with his f+MK, it doesn’t mean you can’t do anything about it. Stay out of their ranges and punish whiffed pokes with cr.HK. That Ken liked to spam f+MK, and I’m pretty sure you can stuff it with like cr.MK or cr.MP, or kunai zone.

tl,dr: Your Ibuki is better, but still needs a ton of work. First step: stop trying to mash out a special or ultra when your opponent is pressuring you. You will need to learn how to block sooner or later. Or at least take advantage of backdash.

pLEASE please post it or send it to me.

  1. Yeah, I need to work on that. Most complaints I always get is that I’ll run in, do something and try and keep a distance to plan what to do next. Giving my enemy time to take the pace and etc, etc. I also need more work on my execution, so I’ll work on that some more.

  2. Lol, I’ll get on that. Once they’re in my face, I try to do anything to get them on knockdown first and then work from there, but I’ll have to work on my jerk reaction of doing combos while they’re in my face.

  3. Actually, the part that happened with that ken fight was the worst accident and shows my poor execution. I meant to jump over that and shuriken, but the shuriken didn’t come out and I fell right into the Hadoken. I tend to have problems with them because I always OVERANALYZE when they’re about to throw one out. I’ll try to slide under it and end up eating a ex or then I’ll FA and eat an ex, etc. So I just start blocking when I’m not sure. I need to get better at my instincts of instantly sliding, so I’ll work on that too.

  4. I actually try to punish jumpins with crouching hp, standing hk or -> hk. Otherwise I’ll jump and grab them out of the air if I see the opportunity. I never try to block unless I know I really have to. If they’re trying to mixup, I usually try to use her dash or slide to get out of it.

  5. Noted.

Alright, thanks for the tips. I’ll also work on backdash, since I’ve been trying to get that better than always jumping away. Most people notice when I start jumping back and easily get in and punish me for it. That and I need to try and backdash out of any grappler’s range from time to time.

how about that list alex?

Also want this list^

^ Remember that b+MP is also an awesome anti-air

wow u guys dont do ur work, u should’ve done this test ages ago …just teasing :stuck_out_tongue:
but to be honest it’s ABC Ibuki, hence come wut stuff to do against opponents in vortex and meaties.

anyways here’s the list. also alex was correct but he missed one character for the special cases. they are 5 actually not 4

these are the combo used(either lp,mp, fp or lp,mp,d+fk,fk) TC4 and TC 6

**-Regular case: **
(opponent will eat the 2 hit of the MP in the combo wither he’s crouching block or not)

01-Makoto
02-Seth
03-Gouken
04-Gen
05-Sakura
06-Abel
07-Sagat
08-Hakan
09-Guile
10-Geif
11-Fei
12-T Hawk
13-Adon

-1 hit only from the MP case:
( Opponent will eat any of this TC’s if they are just crouching. if they are Crouch block, then only 1 hit of the MP will connect)

01-Ryu
02-Ken
03-Akuma
04-Honda
05-Dudley
06-Dan
07-Juri
08-Chun
09-Bison
10-Cammy
11-Deej
12-Cody
13-Rufus
14-El fuerte
15-Vega

-Special case:
(It depends on each character having there differences)

1-Dhalsim:
If he’s only crouching without blocking, any of the TC will fully hit wither MP hit twice or once only.
in case of block, MP will completely whiff in the air

2-Viper:
If viper is just crouching, MP will completely whiff in the air
if viper crouch blocking, then only 1 hit from the MP will connect

3-Guy:
If opponent just crouching, then the whole TC will whiff in the air
If opponent crouch blocking, then only 1 hit from the MP will connect

4-Blanka:
if opponent just crouch without blocking, then the whole TC will whiff
if opponent crouch block, then only 1 hit form the MP will connect

5-Rose:
If opponent just crouching without blocking, then the WHole TC will Whiff
If opponent crouch block, then only 1 hit of the MP will connect

Conclusion: SIM is the weirdest case of all!! though it’s good cause if it hit him, then the TC will fully connect. if he blocked, then u will put urself in a MAJOR disadvantage, so watch it! lol

hence comes that u use BNB’s on these opponents when doin vortex instead of TC’s
Example:
-cr.lp into st.mk
-st.mp, st.lp, into st.mk
-f+lk XX tsumuji LK or EX
-cr.lp, st.lk, st.mk

damn i luv my Notepads i made for Ibuki, just copy paste instant wall of txt  lol

someone should analyse Momochi vs Daigo match

From the bottom of my working class heart I thank you for your research! I would love to see your notepads. Here’s a copy and paste from my notepad…

“quit street fighter”

Sorry xxteefxx, but you misunderstood me which is my fault, I should have specified.

My list is much more thorough. It says what the opponent will get hit with when they are crouching and get hit, when they are crouching and block, AND at how far away it will hit. It also says the same for when they are standing.

I said I have this list in another thread but someone said it wasn’t necessary, so I decided not to post it. I haven’t put the list in my computer yet, so I would have to recreate it. Therefore I do not have it at the moment.

Also you can use cl lp instead of cr lp and link it to lp into st mk so that you can easily continue the vortex. It may be a 1 frame link but it may be worth it.

Thanks alot for the extra tips, Teching is one of my biggest problems. Its like once I realize they are about to grab its too late and I tech too late and get thrown.

New Videos soon =D

Also Dime analyzed the Daigo v Momo match in the Video Thread

you know what, aren’t those what can actually punish those jaguar kicks?

I’ve seen videos of ibukis that have done it, but never knew which was the actual button.

in the first post of the s&m thread i’ve had all that info and more for awhile now…

so if you guys forget where this post is you can just refer there in the individual character sections if you wnt to quickly find out.

-dime

tell me, is it me quit or u quit?

Alexlkd: hey man…yeah np no need to apologize. i just lost track of wuts goin on, i though that wut people wanted to know(from wut Someguy and others requested).

but yah dude, post something like that it’s good to have in Strategy and Matchup thread for people who wanna know Ibuki in details…tis one of the most useful threads for Ibuki to be honest in here as well as this thread/topic.
like take a look at the S and M thread, if some of ur stuff not mentioned then go post em man.

also yah, cl.lp into st.lp to Mk is usefull…but crouchable against some opponent, isnt it?
also i dont think tis 1 framer, it’s really easy…am not sure i will try em on practice to make sure lol

thnx for ur post anyways man, and i like ur matchs…keep it up

EDIT: ohh wow cl.lp, st.lp is a one framer!!! Zoiks
