The Shinobi Secrets: Ibuki Video Thread

Yeah I know if you’re on someone’s friends list u can view their videos but I know some of my videos were nominated by the game itself to be put up for watch. I guess there isn’t a way to search for videos by specific player (where u can see all of the games they have played) though if that’s the case then I could always get someone that’s on my friends list to record some of my vids for me so they can be watched in a higher quality than on my crap camera phone. It’d be nice if I had some kind of video capture device on my computer.

If someone wants to volunteer being on my friends list and record matches off of my replays that’d be cool. Until I get another job and can just buy a card for myself. LOL.

DevilJin01: Thanks for putting the matches up. Glad to see that I’m not the only one who guesses (wrongly) with neckbreaker now and then. One comment for you is that in your Dee Jay match, you try to punish up close moves with U2 – because of the longer start time on it compared to U1, this is usually a bad idea. Get U1 if you want something you can use in a corner from point blank range.

How much more damage / stun does 2x cr. jab, mk, neckbreaker do over lp mp (2) hp neckbreaker – or do you opt for it because the cr. jab combo works at all ranges?

Lastly, super DOES do a ton of chip damage – I’ve won by chipping with it multiple times, especially in matchups that don’t invite EX neckbreaker.

Yeah I purposely used ultra 2 just randomly because I was low on health and there really wasn’t much else to do with Dee Jay putting me in the corner. I already dropped too many combos before that point that I shouldn’t have so I just said fuck it. If I was playing in a tournament match I would have just kept blocking but I was in a typical delayed online match so it didn’t really matter what I did. I don’t really try to play every online match with the intent to win…it’s just not the same as playing offline. I only really try to guess with random neckbreakers because in the delay it works. Offline it’s not as smart to do but with it being harder to react to and punish it’s like…well why not throw it once in a while since I already have a more solid game than the opponent does any ways. It’s like against most of the randoms I play online if I land one neckbreaker the game is over. So cheap. LOL.

Yeah I mainly go for c.LPx2, LK MK chain or the one frame MK link because it works whether you are close or far range. Lately after I hit someone with a kunai on wake up I’ll tend to go for close LP, MP, HP chain into neck break cuz that does more stun but I like to practice my links so sometimes out of habit I’ll just go for the links instead.

Oh and yeah I do like that super chip.

You have XBL right? If so I will add you and record them for you.

Good work, looking forward to seeing these matches. Also if you have any losing ones to view that would also be really useful as you can learn a lot more matchup-wise from difficult losing matches than easy flashy wins.

Yeah it’s only been like last night since I’ve actually had some good online based fights against people who actually have a chance of going more than 2 rounds forward in a tournament. I got some matches on replay of a Dictator player I was having some trouble with (though at the same time I was just experimenting more than trying to win) so there may be something to learn in that when I put the vids up. I’ve been working on using normals like s.LP to beat out scissor kick attempts from Dictator once he has you in the corner.

videos of me getting beasted by my friend’s solid guy :x

it was my first time playing someone who knew how to play guy. I think i should have blocked more and not tried to be so aggressive up close. besides that i can’t really tell what else i’m doing wrong which is why i’m posting this up here!!

Few things I noticed, your execution is not where it needs to be, gotta finish those opportunities. Also I don’t think you were using enough normals, she has a very good aa and sweep. her dp isn’t good enough to be thrown out that often, IMO, and you need better wake up pressure. I haven’t figured Guy out yet either, so don’t take this as if I know something you don’t, this is just my 2 cents.

Too many kazegiri’s, especially the EX one after you crumpled him, just go into LP MP HP target combo into whatever after that. If your combo starters up close are blocked, go into st.MK xx tsumuji block strings for pressure. Learn to recognize Guy’s jump when he is crossing up (NOT command jump) in order to block it. Anti-air cr.HP works pretty damn well in this match too. Tighten up your links off of cr.LP. Don’t go for kunai vortex when he has meter and obviously tends to reversal EX tatsu, bait it instead. Block more in general.

Do you have your own account now DJ? and if so mind if I Friend request you?

Yeah I got my own account again and u can go ahead.

Which is why you use it sparingly and appropriately and it becomes a great tool

yeah, that one ex kazegiri was only because i forgot i wasnt using u2 hahah.

thanks for the pointers! i’m gonna see how well sticking out that st.mk after blocked combo starters works because i notice a lot of the top ibukis spamming the hell out of tsumuji on block but i haven’t found a way to implement that into my own game.

Looks like Nerd Josh’s Ibuki is serious, much to learn. Back to the lab:

Ibuki VS Guy

Ibuki VS Sagat

Guess this is a prelude to what we can expect if Nerd Josh goes to ECT. I love the kunai vortex so much. Even if the kunai doesn’t hit you get free pressure. Glad there’s a character that finally stops all the reversal BS in this game cold. Kinda surprising to see a lot of those 3 frame s.LP to s.MK links dropped. Should be easy as pie offline though. Really did like the use of the tsumuji/spin kicks to keep pressure.

Nice video’s Niko9193
Alot of good info in those 2 matches

Suprised he opted for ex kunai instead of ex neckbreacker for those shots but his pressure game was sick.

Yeah Nerd Josh basically put into practice my theory of Ultra 1 vs. Rog. If he does a dash punch and u focus attack it’s free ultra 1 for solid ass damage.

1:35 in what exactly did he do? Focus Cancel a Cr. LK?
