Great stuff.
I only watched the first set of matches between you and Raidenthashocka, and that was a great showing of Ibuki, as well as an overall great Street Fighter match. Let’s not forget the Chun-Li player. Sadly you missed those TC4 xx HJC Hashinsho combos TWICE (Once?).
11:32: I haven’t seen that happen before. Lucky positioning.
After the 3rd/4th/5th match, I got the feeling that you were beginning to lose the battle of wits, but you turned that around before 2 rounds and proceeded to win the finals. Great stuff.

Why didn’t that gouken parry? Oh wait, it must be because sako isn’t using the kunai vortex. But is vulnerable to thing’s like his dp, er tatsu? :S
Any answears to 0:04? I had this happen to me mutiple times in my offline gouken matches.
That’s so sneaky, instant overhead sako >_>
The reason Sako does so many empty jumps into lows, or overheads, is because he wants to avoid that Gouken parry, it shuts down nearly all of her standard vortex options. His EX tatsu is pretty easy to safe-jump, which Sako is doing, which severely limits Gouken’s viable options on wake-up. His back dash is pretty damn slow.
Yeah it’s pretty annoying dealing with Gouken’s armor guard with his flip. I’ve tried to get into the habit of just dashing under or away from him in order to keep my distance, that or do a jumping anti-air instead.
- Get out of the way, backdash, dash under, slide under
- Go air to air: air throw, j.MK, nj.MK, etc.
- Antiair Raida (easy armor breaking)
- Early dp (which can also cover Demon Flip kick), or EX dp (much more lenient on the timing due to having invincibility)
- cr.HP xx jump cancel
-if he goes for armor, you’ll jump away to safety (or maybe SJC into something)
-if he doesn’t, he gets hit with cr.HP and can’t punish you anyways
If you want to be really gdlk you can antiair with LK Hien (risky, usually only a good idea if he keeps trying to Demon Flip armor in front of you to bait something out), or cr.HP xx SJC HK Kazegiri (risky but nets you a crapton of damage).
If you want to stay safe, FA is usually a good choice but will lose to Demon Flip throw. I would just stick to nj.MK, airthrow, Raida, and just simply paying close attention to the spacing and getting out of the way and then maybe trip guarding.
Sako is beasting as always, and it never ceases to amaze me. I wonder why whenever he does Neckbreaker he presses multiple punch buttons. I’m assuming it’s to be absolutely sure a Neckbreaker would come out, since the strength of NB in combos doesn’t matter.
Also, Sako is apparently going to EVO 2K12. Clakey himself hinted at going to EVO 2K12 during a CrossCounter episode, so there may be a potential Ibuki mirror match to look forward to.

Wait what? But I thought it wasen’t possible to safe-jump shoto characters. If any version of parry can shut down ibuki’s vortex all day long and if the answer to that is to do an empty jump into cr.lk/overhead/etc, doesn’t that make her immediately vulurable to ex tatsu?
My mind has blown up.
I wouldn’t consider Gouken a shoto-character…well…maybe he’s like an off-shoto character, or an alternate one. He doesn’t have a DP. The reason you can’t do traditional safe-jumps against shotos is because of their 3-frame DP. Although there are some exceptions to this rule (Honda and Cody can both safe-jump 3-frame DPs, not easy to do, but possible).
Gouken has no special move with invulnerability that starts in 3 frames. He can do a parry, but obviously it’s a risky move if you don’t do anything. Most goukens go for the high parry, since it’s FAR more likely they’ll get hit by a jump attack than a low one, and if they go for the low parry, you just attack high for win.
So if you go for the safe-jump, and he does EX tatsu, you get the joy of watching him fly off into the sky, only to be met with a damaging combo when he lands back on earth.
Also, it’s the reason you see Sako ALWAYS jumping at Gouken on wake-up, but rarely actually doing an attack.
Gouken’s EX Tatsu is awful. 7f startup and it doesn’t even work on crouchers, so it won’t even hit you if you go for empty jump into cr.LK.
What’s more important is the setup I saw Sako use at 0:15:
MK Tsumuji xx Low ender , LK cd , cr.LP , forward dash , f+HK
Perfect setup for f+HK to counterhit any crouch tech. All blinked so it’s not just something random he pulled out of his ass… or is it?
Also I like how the music changes into epic-mode at 0:10 right when Sako gets a Neckbreaker knockdown.
That was a pretty sick counterhit setup. I need to find ways to utilize that f+hk frame trap more, it does so much damage, but it just doesn’t seem to agree with my natural sense of timing
Are there any videos of Sako vs. a honda player? I couldn’t find any
Hi!
This is a video of me against imstilldadaddy using Bison today.
I would like to have your opinion, I really need to improve this match up…Last week I lost soon than expected in a local tournament because I face up a player who was playing Dictator. I´m not mad because I lost, I know I couldn´t won the tournament (I know where is my level) but my performance was shit, and I really feel bad with myself after been training so hard…play like that agaisnt that average Bison player. I didn´t recognizes me. I was metal block against him.

Some mistakes I did here and I already noticed :
- st.lp whiff in crouching dictator.
- I´m retard, I didn´t punish his jumps in.
- In 1st round I´m very impatiente in the corner…I should calm down and try to block.
- I shouldn´t go for late kunai in his wake up when he has got ultra.
- I tried to focus atack his Ex devil reverse…which is a mistake because is 2 hits.
- I jump backwards kunai…which is stupid, i´m walking myself into the corner.
btw, in 3rd round I use raida to get out the corner…is a bit risky, but sometimes if you can predict that bison will keep the presure with scissors kick or st.mk / st.hk you will grab him and send him to mind screen.
Please, I would love to have your advices. Regards
Needs less pushing buttons and more blocking.
+1
Also if you corner somebody… Go for EX Tsumuji - Raida. Countless setups, good Damage/stun output.
If you’re cornered against Bipson (worst shit ever) and you’re pretty sure he’s gonna Knee press again, just neutral jump MK and then land your combo to Raida, it’s safer and gives a better damage output.
Otherwise you’re aware of your flaws. You’ve really improved your execution BTW, but watch out, you use HK command dash way too much. I already played imstilldadaddy’s Guile and even if I don’t use it that often, he could react to every single HK cd I was doing. He seemed a bit… sleepy in this match lol
Thank you very much Mingo and Damascus for your advices. I´ll do my best
I will try to be more patiente and press less buttons.
ps: I usually don´t use hk command dash that much but against dictator I want him to lose his charge. Anyway, I should not abuse as you said because offline doesn´t work many times and it´s punishable
HK command dash are to be used when you know your opponent is just blocking. Also, keep in mind that many good/top players hit buttons on delay after they see a st.mk, because they know that you’re most likely either going to end with tsumujis, or do a command dash. Players with good reactions will just react to a command dash with basic hit confirms with light attacks.
This is especially dangerous against bison, since his cr.lk is a 3-frame attack, that leads to a bnb hit confirm combo. While you have the right idea in causing him to lose charge, command dash isn’t necessarily the safest way to do it. But you can do this by doing kunai vortex or cross-ups on wake-up. This way, you remove both of his charges for a second or so, which gives you better options post wake-up.
Overall, you basically already know what you did wrong in this match.
Nice Ibuki imo
