The Shinobi Secrets: Ibuki Video Thread

Do me, do me

Only did a quick skim.

You play incredibly impatient, and quite random. Kind of reminds me of ClakeyD except more of the “I wanna rush the shit out of you right now” aspect. Way too many random jumps, random dashes, random FA, almost random everything. I couldn’t pick up anything that could have been based off reads.

Fortunately, your opponent is also bad. I’ll give him that it’s a bad matchup for Dhalsim, but at random times he simply decides to go on the offensive. Like who the hell starts off a round with a HK slide? Or a random EX Yoga Flame? One time he jumps at you with j.LK. Like really? How did you even get hit with this? Dhalsim has like the slowest jump in the game. When he leaves the ground he basically floats like a balloon. And what the hell is with all his random air drills? lol it’s like he thinks he has a dive kick or something.

Had you played more patiently, you could have scored numerous knockdowns for free by simply punishing his bad habits and poor decisions, most of which you can do on reaction.

I don’t think this guy is a good training partner. He simply lets you get away with obvious jumps and FA spam and other murderous deeds. Hell I could probably play a better Dhalsim then him. I suggest you find someone with a good sense of zoning, like a solid Ryu or Sagat, or maybe even a grappler. That’ll teach you to blindly jump at them; you’ll simply jump into a dp or a lariat.

I would say maybe we could play, but I fear online lag might affect reactions too much.

okay

lmao hahahaha

whoa you’re really good man

Nah, that’s not me. That’s NEW-SHIMAUTA, #3 Ranked Ibuki in Japanese arcades. Master Rank.

gonna test a stream @ http://www.twitch.tv/flashmetroid.

let me know how it runs.

It’s been a while since I last played SFIV, and it has been even longer since I last posted on SRK. It’s astonishing to see how much people have learned about this game in the short time that it has been out. This thread is incredibly helpful, and I really appreciate all the effort that goes into stuff like this.

Just wanted to say that.

I don’t have a capture card but I have some vids from Warriors Anonymous Izuna.

Anyone heard of this guy? I’m wondering why I didn’t see this at EVO this year.

Random Ibuki vs scrub Hakan? This video doesn’t really do justice. I dunno if you noticed but only the first tsumuji loop he attempted actually comboed.

Lots of us didn’t go to Evo 2011.

Interesting. TC6 xx High Jump xx LK Tsumuji is a true block-string.

^ week 1 news I believe.

ANYWAY, I was more impressed with the super jump juggling and mix-ups in the second round. Does he not get any props for any of that? Or is that something every Ibuki here can do, because I’ve never seen an Ibuki mix me up that good. And after I beat his Cammy with my main, I switched to Hakan as a method of catharsis, at the same time he switched to Ibuki. I’m not that familiar with Ibuki, but I’m surprised that there’s NOTHING on this guy. No YouTube, or even on Google, until now, I guess.

We have all practiced his mix-ups and have used them before, but we consider most of them as gimmicks. It’s the opponent’s lack of match-up experience with is making them work.

I guess I’ll give him props for that. But I think most veteran Ibukis are very familiar with SJC command dash mixups by now. But I dunno if we’re supposed to be wow-ed by the SJC execution or that it was working on a Hakan that was getting vortexed while having U2 stocked?

There’s nothing on him as there isn’t much on us. I’m sure you’re well aware that Ibukis, especially decent Ibukis are a rare breed these days. This is quite evident in the SSF4 AE balance discussion thread going on where they discuss how to deal with the top tier (Fei, Yun, etc.) and the low tier (Hakan, Elf, etc.), yet there is never a mention of Ibuki anywhere lol.

I have a feeling that Ibuki’s st.LP is going to be amazing in SFxT…

sjc mixups only appear to be gimmicky if you dont…mixup, you know? like for example, your opponents definitely are going to read you if you keep following your juggled sthk with an hk command dash, mixing up with stuff like mk command dash(to stay on the front), super jump to cross up and empty jump crlk combo starter etc will always keep your opponents guessing no matter how familiar they are with the mixup. matter of fact i rarely do a kazegiri after an agemen these days.

with a bit of testing you’d start to see how a cancelled sthk into crhp into jump in completely negates some reversals like guys ex spinning kick etc giving you a free jump in opportunity everytime you connect an agemen.

I know, Ibuki’s launchers are amazing. She can recover with a meaty, cross-up, ect. But Hakan should be trying to grab out of that.
