I find it useless,high level players dont even use it i think. Maybe im just saying this cause i cant do it…but even if i could, you dont need this to win.
You input down + kara throw.
They throw, you tech it.
They attack low, you parry and punish with the normal you used in your kara throw.
They do nothing, you throw them.
You’re not confirming and doing this on reaction or anything, if you just press the buttons right it does one of these things depending on the situation.
Ryu24, what you’re talking about isn’t SGGK but rather a more ghetto option select. In practice, SGGK is similar except if you get the parry you punish them with a normal (looking at Mackinzie’s list, most of these moves can be combo’d into super or whatever) rather than a throw.
the dash isnt necessary he just dashed up to time the parry since its in training mode, but if you see what the inputs are then you would see:
if you get a parry a normal comes out since he’s trying to tech
if he blocks a grab comes out, and if it just grabs then youll get a tech
it limits your opponents options and forces there hand into committing to one option or another
its a really safe thing to do in certain situations which is why a lot of high lvl players (depending on their character) do it
that dash up down parry, back throw thing that you do is not really limiting as many options as a regular sggk input would
you’re not committing to anything but the grab regardless since you’re dashing up and back throwing
what you could do though is dash up press d/ hp/ lp~lk…thats a form of sggk as noted in the OP
it’s an option select that when you parry bait then kara throw if you get the parry you get the normal used for the kara if you don’t you kara throw or tech throw
the reason it’s useful most characters can hit confirm super or specials IE: if you sggk with cl.RH with chun you can hit confirm cl.RH into sa2 so if you parry you get free super if they don’t do anything you get kara throw if they throw you tech.
i don’t feel they’re game breaking or anything, but they are neat tricks to learn they are also quite useful if you play a lower tier character to help you against the likes of Chun as she doesn’t really have ground chains or combos and say you downparry her lowfoward and she supers anyway you get the jump on her with a free combo~super
