Great videos, I really like Juri Julia as a team! But for the first few Julia combos can’t you just do Kaida into cr.hp instead of slow power punch into kick into Wind Roll for more damage?
The combos you show do switch sides, but given how far back Tiger Strike sends the opponent back, I’m not sure how useful it is…
You better ask roknin. I know nothing (I’m from Barcelona) about Julia. I just post usefull content for the thread.
So apparently Zangief, Dhalsim and Sakura’s launchers are the only launchers to hit low profile moves. (ie like Juri’s cr.mk, Asuka’s cr.mk, Lei’s play dead, and Blanka’s amazon river run.) These are the only launchers with this ability. Every other launcher whiffs. Puzzling…
I’ve had Vega’s and Julia’s hit me as well. Might wanna re-check yourself there.
Mistimed it. I’ve tested it. Vega’s launcher will whiff. It’s your part in the timing.
I guess Julia has a low profile hitting launcher. Though just shy of Sakura’s dhalsim’s and gief’s launcher height.
Some Pandora tech I had a while …
Lol I knew when I fought you while back you were trying to make a pandora combo video lol! Good stuff bro
Lol You right I’ve just been so lazy to do it… It took me two days to do this mainly because of sony vegas acting up
So apparently if you block a launcher you can nj or jump and get a full jump-in combo…off a blocked launcher (except Jin’s since…well…it’s jin). I never knew that…a full jump-in combo off a blocked launcher…awesome. Oh I forgot to mention…you can’t be a floaty character like say Yoshi, Bison, or Xiao. Also I don’t think grapplers can punish with a ump-in combo due to them having 7 pre-jumps frames…I tested with it fast (juri’s) and King’s jumps. They can connect with a full jump-in combo easily. And if others knew about it I never saw anyone actually do jump-ins after launchers to get a combo off.
It was new to me. Now I can get the most off blocked launchers.
Hey, here’s a thing i wrote while i was in uni about baiting alpha counters in preparation for doing a video on it. It’s kind of a ‘script’ but i think it still makes sense in this context.
There are four methods for baiting alpha-counters; avoiding the attack itself through hitboxes or positioning, using an invulnerable move to go straight through, safe jumps and deep jump-in attacks. Unfortunately there is no universal answer for every alpha-counter in all match-ups, but with a little lab work and some good reads you can really punish this defensive option.
Here are some examples of what characters can do;
Avoiding the Alpha-Counter
This is probably the vaguest option as it’s very character specific so i’ll give some general examplesIbuki jump cancel vs Ryu - st.Forward xx NJC, jab.Kunai
A lot of her normals you will want to use in block strings are jump cancellable, if you guess they are going to alpha-counter jump cancel straight up or backwards and you’ll either be able to use Kunai to punish or just attack as you’re falling for a full combo.Ryu short.Tatsu vs Blanka - cr.Strong xx short.Tatsu
Due to Blanka’s alpha-counter being his slide you can use moves with no lower body hurtbox to go straight over, in this example Ryu cancels his normal into a short.Tastu.Invulnerable Specials
With invulnerable special attacks you can go straight through the alpha-counter, depending on your character this might be a hard read but for some it’s a safe option. When working this one out make sure you test various different timings on the alpha-counter as they can really vary in results.Raven teleport vs Ken - cr.Strong xx kick.Teleport Backwards
Kazuya EWGF vs Ken - st.Strong xx EWGF
Safe Jumps
This is probably the most conisistant way to beat Alpha-Counters. The one downside is it only works vs a portion of the cast, characters like Chun and Cammy beat most setups clean due to their far reaching and quick attacks.Ryu Safe Jump vs Paul - Forward Throw (st.Strong), nj.Roundhouse
Deep Jump-in Attacks
Very common in the Alpha series, this technique requires you to attack as late as possible during your jump arc. Although it can open you up to lots of different anti-airs it will have the same result as safe jumps when uses against alpha counters
If you hit a jump-in really deep (like smacking the opponent’s feet) you can beat out a lot of CC’s. I was able to stuff out Guy’s CC. Though timing is friendly.

Makes sense, i used this a lot in alpha 2 don’t know why it didn’t cross my mind.
I meant timing isn’t friendly.
I wanted to start maximizing my damage from backdash option-selects with Chun and these are my results. Can’t believe i actually sat and did this on the entire cast in all honesty. It me took like 2 and a half hours between testing things and writing it down on Evernote. I would post it in the character specific section but it’s dead.
