Well, in one of the videos posted, like I said, it shows how you can do MORE damage in LESS time. That can definitely help with the timeout situation, right?
I believe this is an appropriate response to this thread
SFT isn’t turtle-y unless you turtle
that’s why we invented standing jab
all hail Poongko
lololol.
I love this game!
That’s how kazunoko won godsgarden.
Couldn’t you just make this a video thread and not a /tier/balance/something else thread? LOL.
Oh boy that poongko match is too good i can’t stop watching it hahaha
The moment you would have won on time if even if you let go of the stick and let the opponent beat you up as best as he can, it’s a time-out. Doesn’t matter what happens at that point. Even if you technically KO your opponent in the remaining seconds, doesn’t matter because you’ve already won on time. It’s as meaningless as tacking on superfluous DHCs in UMVC3 just to style.
Just my two cents. I feel like SFxT lends itself to a more defensive playstyle because so many characters cannot properly play defense due to lack of viable anti-airs and other such techniques. This creates that fear of putting yourself into a position where you will have to defend yourself knowing that your defensive options are limited, thus, people spend a lot of time staring at each other. On the flip side, damage comes quite easily which a simple ABC Launch chain that can start off of a simple thing as a c. Short, c. Forward, or s. Jab. Yes, they don’t lead to much damage, but it adds up when it is so easily attainable. I have given up on SFxT because it is the first game in a long time that flat out frustrates me because of this poor defensive options given to most characters.
This idea that anti-airing isn’t viable in SFxT is complete bullshit. Most characters have decent ground anti-airs unless they were explicitly designed not to as a balancing factor (EX: Julia), and every character can reaction air-to-air for a potentially enormous CH combo. It’s a new game, learn how to play it folks.
On topic, Marn + Clakey D were freaking amazing in the past Wednesday Night Fights. Their team beasted on everyone, it was so cool.
Wow, did Clakey D let Marn play for once? That’s amazing. ^^ Have to see that myself.
The game is what you make it out to be, it is as simple as that. Any game allows for every possible style and there is no wrong way to play it as long as you win or show improvement. People might hate a lame or defensive style but if a player can keep out the enemy on reaction easily and land proper counters as the aggressive enemy gets frustrated it still counts as a win either way. It isn’t about style points at the end of the day it is about the end result being a win. If you win be proud of it and if you can make the other person quit because of your play it is even better because you hurt their pride. That hurts more than a normal lose ever will
Why do people think a fighting game has to be play a certain way honestly when it is clear people can dominate a game playing lame or rushing down the opponent just the same. oh well?
You’re right, but AGAIN this thread is not about condemning turtle-ing/playing “lame”, neither has it to do about styling on your opponent or that turtle-ing is the “wrong way to play”. Every playstyle, as in any other game, is legit and existing in SFxT. It’s simply to show that rushdown, for instance, is just as rewarding as any other style in this game.
Anoher good match:

Hold on, let me write this down. So you’re saying this isn’t a turtle game, if no one turtles? Got it, thanks for the wisdom. I’ll file this under other genius ideas such as “If you don’t want a hangover, don’t drink” and “The best way out of a speeding ticket is to not speed”.
It’s finally happened…Eventhubs front page > SRK’s front page
Thought I’d never see the day…

nice Poison/Cammy play around 24 minutes
And, I’m diggining that Guile coloring at 28 minutes. Simple, but solid.

Really entertaining Grand Finals WITH GEMS OMG!
Julia is really fun to watch. She reminds me of Akira from VF, for mega obvious reasons.
Probably from the same context of “That’s so lame dude!”
Hey man, just wanted to say thanks for keeping the vids coming. It’s clear that SRK and those who run it have something against the game. I think the game pretty much rocks, there is intense pressure and footsies are paramount, very fun game.
No problem!
BTW, Dawgtanian’s weekly Cross-Up Mondays look like a good source for some nice matches:
SF x TK - “Cross Up” - Every Monday Live from HMV GamerBase London (casuals)
SF x TK - “Cross Up” - Every Monday Live from HMV GamerBase London (casuals)
SF x TK - “Cross Up” - Every Monday Live from HMV GamerBase London (actual tourney)
And, the gems don’t seem to be much of a problem, as Dawgtanian himself mentons at one point during the commentary.
