Do all of you guys play on jlf?
I’ve broken the second one in a year and had to migrate to seimitsu 32 as that is the only one left. It is way stiffer, i have issues with dashing, but i like it.
Was thinking about trying out a korean one…
I don’t even know what that means. But I can guarantee you that I have a shitload more experience with you in regards to what “good” UX is. There’s a reason that a lot of forums don’t look like srk2 anymore. In the end it’s all opinion though.
New forums are fine, just need to adapt. Just like when a new game drops.

Vs Abigail you seemed to just get in a rut calling out V Skill. It beats armor which is good, but doing it too often is just going to telegraph you and open you up to jumps. At the same token you should pepper in some jumps vs Abigail to keep him honest about throwing s.HP. Has 50 plus total frames so a nice hop over into jump combo will keep him from sitting on that too often. Abigail wants you to just sit and stay on the ground all day because then he can just abuse shit that armors and outranges everything you do. You have to get a bit unga to show him that you aren’t going to let him play 1 player footsies all day.
Also is there a reason that you aren’t using psycho rising for AA? I know it’s a bit slow at 12 frame start up, but being able to have access to a no motion AA that covers that much range and does at much damage as it does seems good (plus from what i tested seems real easy to do on reaction). Probably better off with that as long as your reactions are good vs Abi jumps than s.MK which won’t net you any damage or set up any way (and if you mistime or misplace you’re probably going to get stunned or die). If he does it from far range sweep seems to beat it often enough also. This is good since Ed has near the only sweep that’s viable for anti air and it can be thrown from a range where Abi can normally just j.HK for free without much fear of AA. If you have v trigger, VTC the sweep and start shit.
Oh and in the corner I noticed you had a first reaction to try and jump out of his charged armor punch. Like I’ve learned you might as well just walk forward and kill yourself if you jump. Jumping is suicide. Taking the guard crush is completely better even. I see that you eventually start trying to use EX upper to beat the armor? Is that consistent and something a lot of other characters can do?
Similar scenario where pookie was calling you out on V Skill abuse with jump ins. He’s still learning Ibuki so he wasn’t like crazy destroying you in neutral. It was more stuff like when you had him in the corner you didn’t have any real pressure. You would just do walk up s.MP x 4 and someone of his play level is just going to sit and block all 4 s.MP’s. One of those should have been a throw or a shimmy walk back in. s.MP x4 isn’t going to open anyone up but scrubs who mash.
Finally got my account back, but damn… really not a fan of this discourse thing.

Just thought I’d chime in here.
I originally started srk2 because I thought old SRK forums were going to die. There were a couple of reasons I kept going after the Discourse move was announced.
The people running old SRK didn’t seem terribly invested in the forums anymore. They were willing to close them down without any warning, and didn’t seem all that interested in finding lower cost alternatives before people started doing the research for them.
Old SRK is long past its heyday – it has pockets of intense activity from a few dedicated people, but for the most part it’s an archive of old posts and 100 dead subforums. Why not start fresh?
Forums themselves are pretty niche and old-fashioned. When I started building websites almost (20!) years ago, forums were where you built community. Nowadays most people under the age of 20 probably don’t even know what a forum is. It’s all social media-based.
I figured if there was going to be a niche site using old-fashioned software, it might as well be run by someone who cares. I love old SRK and I’ll still lurk, but I work hard to make sure srk2 exists as a place where that small subset of people can go and have someone who still is actively involved in development.
I researched Discourse heavily along with other forum software. I’ve tested quite a few and checked out their pros and cons. Discourse has a more modern UI. It is extensible (thought not as much as other software). It has real-time updates and isn’t based on PHP. These are all good things.
The main problem is admin engagement. Do the people who run the site now want to put in the effort to research and test new plugins? Will they bother to get someone to code a nice template for it? The newest best software is useless if the people running it don’t lift a finger to do something with it. The fact that SRK management prefer to have someone else run, host, and maintain the forums tells me that they probably won’t go the extra mile.
I went with Vanilla because of famliarity, but even I am thinking of switching to something more full featured and powerful (Invision). Right now srk2 has an old-school design. I can change it any time! Right now it has a paginated layout. That could change too! (probably won’t). I’m a web designer so this stuff is easy to change around. But regardless of what software I use or what the design is like (I’m sorry some people find srk2 ugly. 
), at least I know that there will be a niche FGC place where management is involved and still cares.
srk2 doesn’t exist to replace SRK or to step on anyone’s toes. It exists so that people have somewhere they can go for whatever, whenever, and feel like the community isn’t an afterthought. I’m invested personally and financially in providing a community hangout spot, and whether or not it gets used is up to everyone else. I’m just working hard to make sure that one exists.
So post here, post there, post wherever. It’s all good. <3

stick with the seimitsu ls-32. it has a slightly shorter throw than a sanwa and the difference in tension is slight. if you have the ls-32-SC version, it’s much stiffer than a normal ls-32 (i have one of those and i hate it on smaller lap sticks).

Aside from the obvious point of my reactions being garbage, with Abigail’s jump arc and the angles he jumps at oftentimes I’ll only get one hit of the Psycho Rising (only hitting the limb on his j.hk) and no opportunity to get Psycho Splash which isn’t worth the risk of him empty jumping and me whiffing in his face in a counter-hit state. St.mk covers a better angle for his jump and does more damage than Psycho Rising often does in those scenarios.
Yeah my offense is garbage, and probably will be for some time. I almost never played on offense so I never learned to. Same with general risk taking.
You know how much I hate Discord. It’s why Discourse annoys me so badly. It reminds me of Discord. I like the community, that’s why when the forum was going to be canned I was agitated. It’s why there is an SRK2 to begin with. They basically were going to kick us out with no eviction notice. Even those usually in the know, like the mod staff were in the dark. @bchan009 stepped up, as did I and others when it looked like we would not have a home. I don’t want the community split either. It’s why as soon as I saw how good of a job Bchan was doing I abandoned my endeavor threw all my support behind him. I’ll continue to post at SRK. That said, I’m going to support SRK2 because I know the guy running the show actually gives a rats ass about us.
I like you guys sans YorKeY. When it looked like the forum was going goodbye. He showed his ass and frankly the shit wasn’t funny. I’m all for jokes but there is a time and place for everything. Frankly, I just don’t trust that this place will always be here anymore. Bchan clearly gives a damn. I don’t think he’d just turn out the lights on us without telling us what’s going on. He’s literally reaching into his pockets and taking his time to give us a home. Truthfully, when my trust is broken. It’s extremely hard to be earned back. I don’t trust SRK anymore and I won’t put all my eggs in the SRK basket. I advise everyone else to be just as wary.

Yeah I think that range where only the first hit would hit is the range where sweep would be good any way. You have to be a pretty good distance away from my training mode testing for only one hit of rising to hit. Can just use sweep at anything where you might second guess rising and keep rising for the closer jumps.
LOL. I guess that means you’re best off just sticking with Menat since she probably gets the most reward of anyone other than Sim or Guile for just being passive and checking the screen with stuff. Those are about the only 3 characters you can get away not performing traditional shimmy/SFV offense and get work done.

As for the JLF thing, I’ve been using square gate JFL sanwa since like 2005. Basically half my life. Works for me. Only thing I used before that were Sega Saturn pads and US bat top sticks. If you’re going through multiple JLFs you are definitely riding the gates way too hard. You want to treat the JLF more like a really sensitive mouse and not exert force on the corners unless you absolutely have to. Will keep you more precise while putting less wear on the stick.

Problem there is that I should still learn to play offense to some degree. There will be situations even with Menat where I can’t just stay in neutral pressing buttons.
If I don’t step out of my comfort zone for once I won’t grow as much. And right now I still consider Ed more of a main than Menat. I just need to train myself to not always go for safe strings (ie the st.mp and x4 while staying at a distance) and mix things up more, not be afraid to possibly make a wrong guess on the opponent’s response to a situation.
It’s fine to not trust that this place will be here anymore, but at least we know now that it was just people being complacent about a forum software that was costing too much money as the reason. It wasn’t just purely malicious intent or indifference to the people who still use the forum. They got off their ass and found something that is much cheaper to host. People proved to them that there was definitely a way to find something way less expensive if money was the problem and so we’re good there.
This is not a place where we’ve ever had real communication. If you’re just being cynical now you’ve waited far too long. You’re talking about a website that since before SFV launched and most of you guys were posting here, the main SRK staff pretty much types 99 percent of their messages outside of SRK on twitter and social media. Social media is essentially the new outreach and home for what people see. SRK is really Evo to the outside world. People don’t see SRK, they see Evo.
If the big populace only sees Evo/Joey’s Twitter, that’s fine. SRK has always been Evo and the Evo branding is what makes them money. The forum is just a long lost hideout of outsiders that still prefer to post more than 260 characters when they can and not have conversations and topics @'d and bumped all day long against each other. Not to mention get away from the chat style constant scrolling of messages during live discussion that Discord and Facebook messaging is known for.

The reason why I stay here and why you can’t replace SRK1 is that SRK is where you started, where everyone else here started. New randoms aren’t just going to tumble into SRK2 or Discord. Without an invite from someone already there nobody new is going to show up. Your pookies, your twins, your beas and anyone that just shows up here, you need an SRK1 for that and that’s why I’m sticking with SRK till the end. Plus all of the archived posts that make SRK the history book it is.

You don’t even have to reload, it updates on the fly if you keep the window open, unless you maybe have some browser settings turned off. You will just see new posts and can scroll down.
