So one of the universal changes is that regular throws are now 3 active frames. This helps with the issue @Dime was talking about where it can be tough to land meaty throws because 2 frames invincibility to throws on wake up.
I decided to look up frame data for command throws and apparently all command throws also only have 2 active frames. Even bull revenger/free willy is only 2 active frames.
This means command throws are now honest moves that have to be timed well to land on wake up. While regular throws are now dishonest auto pilot mash. Mena put in work and it should not be disrespected.

Mena has beaten punk before. Cant remember the tourney but i remember there was a small stream after where top players were playing sets. Mena was winning pretty convincingly then and that was when punk was winning most tournaments.
Plus i think Birdie is supposed to be a bad match for Karin but idk.
Think every Karin player isn’t a fan of the Birdie MU. He outbuttons her in the spaces that Karin likes to press buttons, and can start doing Birdie things once he has Karin too focused on trying to counter Birdie’s buttons. Throw in high damage/momentum swing once VT is in play, the life difference between Karin and Birdie, and I think Birdie has the advantage of averaging out the more mistakes he can make.
Granted Karin can just run him down with her usual oki game, though Birdie does have options to counter every one of Karin’s, he’s got the most legit wakeup game for someone who doesn’t have a real reversal. I’ve had plenty of fights where the Birdie player guessed right on wakeup into VT cancel, and then it’s all over for Karin.
I don’t think the MU is hugely in favour of one or the other mind, and I believe @itzpookiie as a Birdie player thinks the MU favours Karin.
I think the matchup is 5.5/4.5 in karins favor

The thing is Birdie is not that free in the corner unless he has no meter. There are some characters that have it way worse. S2 his wakeup is not bad, it’s like Makoto in IV where he has a bunch of different options and if he guesses right he gets rewarded big time. Karin can put Birdie in the corner with a huge lifelead, only to guess wrong once on his wakeup, eat EX move into v-trigger, into death. I’ve seen it happen to Mago so many times which is why he doesn’t even bother with Karin and just picks Rashid who has more health and has a much easier time bypassing neutral and rushing him down.
Granted this might change in S3 where throw becomes suddenly a great option to beat both EX bullhorn and EX killing head but right now I don’t see how Karin has an advantage.
But one wrong wake up option and Karin seals the deal as well

Karin in the corner against birdie doesn’t have to worry about throw loops and she has a 2 bar vtrigger that can get her out of the corner on block compared to his 3bar which he will probably be near death or stun by the time he gets it in the corner
The problem is pushing Birdie into the corner and the best way to not ended there is… blocking if Karin already is in your face, which it’s also complicated to obtain due to Birdie buttons and AA. Once he’s cornered yeah,he have to guess or he’s dead, but if Birdie is able to put a wall in front of him Karin’s plan could go off easily out of the window. There’s also the yolo factor, even if it’s risky Birdie could guess a time more than Karin because of more health and Birdie hit harder than her.
