Mena has beaten punk before. Cant remember the tourney but i remember there was a small stream after where top players were playing sets. Mena was winning pretty convincingly then and that was when punk was winning most tournaments.

Plus i think Birdie is supposed to be a bad match for Karin but idk.

Think every Karin player isn’t a fan of the Birdie MU. He outbuttons her in the spaces that Karin likes to press buttons, and can start doing Birdie things once he has Karin too focused on trying to counter Birdie’s buttons. Throw in high damage/momentum swing once VT is in play, the life difference between Karin and Birdie, and I think Birdie has the advantage of averaging out the more mistakes he can make.

Granted Karin can just run him down with her usual oki game, though Birdie does have options to counter every one of Karin’s, he’s got the most legit wakeup game for someone who doesn’t have a real reversal. I’ve had plenty of fights where the Birdie player guessed right on wakeup into VT cancel, and then it’s all over for Karin.

I don’t think the MU is hugely in favour of one or the other mind, and I believe @itzpookiie as a Birdie player thinks the MU favours Karin.

I think the matchup is 5.5/4.5 in karins favor

Once she’s in and once he’s in the corner it’s really fucking hard for him to win if he Karin isn’t auto piloting

Yeah I like that Abigail transcends the rules a bit. Has some tools that are usually not seen on big body characters and has stuff like a plus 4 on block medium. In a game where most stuff is plus 3 to minus 2 on block, he shakes things up a bit.

Rules set by the small and weak don’t apply when you are big and strong.

Punk gave Mena way too much respect.

So many times he was streamrolling then got scared, so many times he tries to double shimmy and missed Mena biting on the first one.

He also stayed same side like 5 times in a row during his 50/50 because he relied on the corner too much but his cautiousness did not allow him to take advantage of it.

Punk left alot of damage on the table but props to Mena for his amazing use of wake ups options he gave Punk to confuse him and his confirm were insane

Unless some VT2 turn out to be surprisingly good the relative “ranking” of the character are not gonna change much. It doesn’t seem like anyone has been buffed or nerfed much. Am I wrong?

Not much will change except maybe some slight switches
Laura will probably move up some depending on that clap vtc cancel and her vt2

Her vt2 can be really good but will still require some reads
I think vt1 will still be the better choice

From what I’ve seen a lot of people think chuns vt2 is better than her first one. Coolkid was also saying that rashids vt2 will be better than his first one too. Some might make a difference in certain matchups too, like Abigail’s vt2 vs. guile.

We have to wait to see the true meaning of “hit/hurtbox has been changed”, and if it will make robbery characters less effective than good buttons. IIRC the only change to VTC on block was on Balrog’s target combo.
