all this lurking and i have finally joined to ask a great noobish question.
I’m trying to teach myself footsies currently. and was wondering what character/s has the best pokes or the best footsies in the game? i want to practice with them until i get the hang of the idea of it. if you could say several instead of the top one so i get used to different styles it would be good as well please.
thanks and happy Christmas!
Just practice. SRK has a shortuct which should make it easier for you - :df::d::df::p:, so you don’t have to be so precise hitting :r:. I remember when I first started with a stick I had a similar problem and it was quite awkward - I played around a bit with how I held the stick, that helped also.
1st: I’m having real troubles executing double-qcf moves without doing an accidental dp on my te stick. Are there any tips to improve execution?
2nd: I’m pretty new, and have a tendency to use hp/hk a lot. I’m trying to curb the habit and use all 6 buttons well. My question is, for ryu/ken, what is a good alternative to j.hk c.hk as a combo?
1: It happens because you don’t complete the QCF motion. SF4 has :df: :df: as shoryuken shortcut, so if you just hit :df: instead of forward you get a SRK (or EX SRK if you go for ultra).
Try to not hit the gate of the stick, but flick it more gently so it doesn’t hit the edge. A much-used practice routine is to do 100 moves each way, noting down the number of success and fails. Repeat this maybe once a day or once a week, and you’ll see how much progress you make. Like 100 fireballs to the left, then 100 fireballs to the right. Execution relies alot on muscle memory, that is the movement is ingrained in your hands so it just happens when you think of doing it. Like a piano player can play fast pieces with his eyes closed, or how you can type on the keyboard without looking at the keys. Piano players (like myself) practice simple things over and over and over, then some more, to get this free flowing of the hands instead of having to think of where the fingers should be going to play something listenable.
Just bought this xbox controller for my pc. How did u guys map your controller? I wish I had 6 buttons on the front instead of the 4 and having to hurt myself reaching for the buttons in the back.
Hi, yesterday, I heard that one of sf4 community, they’re playing sf4 all of the afternoon on every Sunday in an arcade (Jungin arcade, Seoul, Korea). So every Sunday, I’m going to stream sf4 - see the live from this server or this link. (I’ll try on ustream.com, it’s good to chat with each viewers but little of lag.)
First time poster, just really getting into sf4 online its worlds different from fighting the computer. Anyway thanks to everybody posting tips there is some great stuff on here. Keep up the good work!
Street Fighter 4 …live streaming everyday…gaming in Jungin arcade, Seoul, Korea.
(2:00 pm ~ 11;00 pm GMT+9 / 10:00pm~7:00am in LA)
Go to ustream.com and search, ‘street fighter’.
Before I got my arcade stick, I use a bottom to top arrangement on the xbox controller. Light, medium, heavy punch on the left side and l,m,h kicks on the right side. Plus a 3p/3k macro on the shoulder buttons (for ultras).
i have been practicing sf4 and i am getting better slowly at my input but when ever it comes to playing a real person i crumble; my execution is rubbish, my spacing is dire, i mash moves, i dont have a clue what to do, i cant block in the right place.
so i was wondering how i should get over this. i play 3s and i am calm and can play that vs other i also play ssbm competitively and 'im good at that so i think its something to do with sf4 and confidence.
and advice would be good because i’m sick of losing to clueless noobs.
Where is C. Viper ranked on the tier list? Everybody told me to pick someone else (I’m new to SFIV) but I wanted to stick it out just to see what she’s like. it seems pretty hard to win with her.
It really doesn’t, please stop spreading this rumour. When you do that you’re either hitting :df::d::df: or :df::r::df:, if you start doing that you will not get a srk out everytime as the times you actualy hit :df::df: it won’t work.
She’s high mid, but probably the hardest character to use in the game. No problem starting out with her but expect to loose a lot to begin with.
She’s ranked #11 in the japanese wiki and yes, consensus is that she’s a character that takes more skill to use than say the shotos. That said, I suggest you try everyone as well as check the forums here to see who fits your personal style.
I believe it’s a common misconception that shortcuts are actually a set of hardcoded commands other than the traditional one for a move.
I have a question. Im having a really hard time piano keying inputs in sf4. There are two inputs that i tried first: jab, strong, fierce, strong, fierce (This one never worked). And the second input: jab, strong, fierce, fierce, fierce (This one worked only twice from about twenty attempts.) The problem can either be because my fingers arent fast enough yet, or my fight stick. I have an SE Mad Catz Fight Stick (Modded to full Sanwa), but maybe even the mod doesnt help the game recognize the button inputs, so as of right now i dont know what to do, and how to consistently piano key. Any suggestions and advice is accepted.
