Reset

This has quite possibly been answered somewhere but I can’t find it. What exactly is a reset? When both players end up standing up a solid distance apart such as at the beginning of the match, and thus the situation has been “reset”?

hello ,

i just want to know if there is a way to choose victory pose , in street alpha it’s possible.

sorry for my english .

Unfortunately, no. Can only customize taunts and win quotes.

A reset is a marvel term, meaning you are comboing someone, but the combo is so long the damage scaling means you are getting 10% of each hit’s damage, so you space the combo out just long enough to re-combo the person for full damage.

There aren’t resets in SFIV in the same way they are in marvel…don’t worry about resets worry about fundamentals.

Thanks Airthrow.

Oh, and RadarTrap - I suppose I could just test it myself, but did you mean for there to be a “+” or a comma in between “MP+MK” and the next forward? Is it “F, MP+MK+F” or “F, tap MK+MK, F”?

I think it works both ways. :bgrin:

I haven’t tested with input display on to find out the exact inputs being read, but when I do it I tap focus and forward at the same time. It’s possible that my hands are doing something different without my head knowing about it though, sometimes I doubt they’re connected at all…

Give them both a go and you’ll soon find what works best for you.

Are these names said with a long ‘O’, or like an ‘oo’ sound?

Hey what up peoples. I did a search for tick throwing and I didn’t see a definition on it. I heard it has to do with jabbing and throwing but I haven’t seen anyone say what tick throwing actually is. From what I can tell this is different from kara throwing? thanks for the help

I hate Seth

go + key

go + ken

so both with long O’s, as in “yo mama is a HO!”

tick throwing is usually when you ‘tick’ them with a very quick move before you throw them, so that you put their mind in “block mode.” for example:

c.jab, throw
or c.jab, c.jab, throw.
or s.jab, throw.
etc.

depending on spacing, you may have to walk a little forward before you throw.

If you repeat combos do they take less damage?

I was trying out some combos someone used on me on Live in practice to see which took the most energy and I noticed the amount lessened the more I did them. I’m not sure if it was because I was hitting them incorrectly or what. I noticed that when you hit someone stunned a combo takes more energy than it normally does but I don’t know for certain what’s causing the combos to take less energy.

This question isn’t answerable without specific details.

One thing I *can *say is that characters take less damage as they have less and less life. This is often called “guts.”

So if you’re practicing on a training dummy, and you don’t let his life refill before doing the same combo again, the combos are going to deal less damage.

Also, a combo during a stun should deal less damage, not more. This is because whatever you do during their stun counts as part of the previous combo, thereby further scaling the damage.

Ahhh, that must be it. When the dummy got stunned, I tended to back off to give myself time to jump in with a big combo, so the dummy’s health must have reset. Cheers dude. I thought it might be one of those game features to ‘punish’ spamming that other games (not talking fighting games specifically) have.

awesome thanks, im going to check that out.

I had a guy do this a fair bit to me today. He jumped in with a light kick/punch which I blocked and went for the throw straight after. Worked quite well.

It’s not an “oo” sound like “too” or “room”, it’s like a long “oh” sound.

But this is America so you should just say Akuma or you will sound like a Japanese fanboy.

I got a beginner’s question, how do you block crossovers? Hold forward as they are jumping over?

Im having an issue safely getting UP from a downed state…

Normally i will duck and block, but i normally get hit with something that hits HI and LOW… which opens up my guard. I play abel, so im not able to do some special uppercut (damn shoto’s)

This problem seems to get much worse when i verse a zangief who is able to totally destroy me once i hit the ground…
