i think the game isnt for you if you cant do something as easy as blocking j.rh, cr.rh
fyi: low block is INSTANT so long as you’re not recovering from doing a move…so yeah you just suck real bad.
If you are using the xbox analog it is actually quite tricky sometimes. The window to stop the movement when rolling from one direction and landing on another is tiny. That’s also why people have such a hard time doing supers and such that lead to accidental DP.
Thanks, that helps.
I had three general questions relating to Focus Attack:
(1) When you are on wake-up, and your opponent (for example, ken) is performing a jump-in cross up (in this case j.mk). Can you perform a reversal FA? In other words, do you have enough time to perform FA on wake up to absorb Ken’s cross up j.mk? If you can, which way would you be facing (since FA is a direction neutral special move, does the game auto-correct your orientation)?
(2) Can you absorb a FA with a special move that has an EX-armor? Let’s say Ryu is performing his FA, and El Fuerte performs his EX-habanero dash (which has two-hit EX-armor) towards Ryu. Would El Fuerte absorb Ryu’s FA, regardless of FA level?
(3) I was able to “counter” FA an opponent that is performing a lvl 2 FA. Can your FA absorb your opponent’s lvl 3 FA? For example, El Fuerte is on wake up, and Ryu is timing his FA so that lvl 3 hits as El Fuerte gets up. Can El Fuerte absorb Ryu’s lvl 3 FA by performing his own FA on wake up?
Edit: After posting this, I realized I probably can test out (2) and (3) on my own in training mode. I’ll test it out later today when I get home, and I’ll post my findings. (1) is still very tricky to pull of on my own, even with the recording function. So, please be so kind as to help me out with (1), if you can!
1.) not sure
2.) level 3 FA has armor break properties but levels 1 and 2 do not. afaik ex armor functions alot like FA armor with the exception of moves like habanero dash which can absorb 2 hits.
3.) see #2

What does meaty mean?
Interesting, I guess I have to look at the frame data for jumping. I tried for a long time to jump away. I basically gave up in frustration and held down bu the whole time. Didn’t get me anywhere. Do you jump faster by jumping when rising and not just holding the direction down?
And I try to throw a lot too, but I guess my timing is just off.
im sorry if this has already been stated but theres like 15 pages of asking what FADC is.
for pokes and jabs after moves, what do they have priority over? also i want to use FA better, as a counter. so when is a good time to use FAs other than FADC? on jump in? after blocked jump in on cRH? i just cant get the timing right.
i had been maining akuma and gotten pretty good with him, ie beat scrubs and i fluctuate around 1500bps. but with akuma he takes so much damage that I never learnt how to poke or believe it or not even cross up very well. I know the cross up is a great tool but i find that i need to play so safe that if i mess it up once or twice half my life is gone, then im forced to play keep away with air fireballs and RD threat. is that just the risk of playing Akuma or am I missing something?
also i still have a terrible time with turtles since most of my nice combos with akuma need to start low and when i try to play mind games and mix it up it, all it takes is one right guess and I abandon it almost all together due to the damage i take. maybe its just i need to be more persistent.
Ive looked at the term piano’ing, and i understand the concept, but i cant seem to consistently get chuns ex-legs to come out. sometimes i get regular, sometimes ex. is there a trick that im missing or just practice?
To do any of the mash specials (legs, electricity, honda slaps), press a punch/kick 5x. It can be any combination of strengths of punch/kick. The 5th press determines the strength (light, medium, hard, or EX). So if you press 2 kicks at the same time on the 5th press, you get EX.
AWESOME thanks =)
Do the 5 inputs have to be in sequence or could you, say, hit all three kick buttons once together followed by the light kick button twice by itself to get legs to come out?
I’m sure that would work.
If I wanted to do a light kick legs specifically (like in challenge mode or something), I would usually piano like: lk, mk, hk, mk, lk with my index, middle, ring, middle, and index fingers.
I can’t seem to find where I select the language for each character. I would like to stop Ryu from speaking english.
Can you guide me to the proper menu to correct this?
I have beat the game at least once on Medium and I have xbox360
thanks for any help.

damn, i figured it would be that easy. positive rep for you friendo.
Lol? The “j. hk + sweep” combo is the most scrubbiest combo ever. It’s so stupidly predictable that if you die to it, you deserve to lose.
The game doesn’t block fast enough? Lolol. Blocks are instant, don’t blame the game for your lack of skills.
If the tactic is so “cheap” or ridiculously overpowered, aren’t you a fool for NOT using it? Isn’t that what all games are about, finding the best advantage and tools to win your opponent? (Nobody uses the above-mentioned combo in a serious match.)
I don’t think fighting games are suited for you. SFIV is already a beginner-friendly game.
My six-year-old cousin can play this on a pad.
How is it Capcom’s fault there are no good controllers? Capcom doesn’t even make video game accessories. Crappy 360 pad is Microsoft’s problem.
There are lots of good controllers on eBay.com
