Well i am also kinda new, just having trouble learning how to play with a arcade stick! i always played SF with a gamepad… so i hope it will get better soon.
Well thank God I haven’t been to a big tournament yet. Thanks for the reply, atleast I know what to “look forward” to.
MOVE PRIORITY.
Is there a golden rule for move priority while two characters are in the air? like does a light kick beat a hard kick, does a hard punch beat a light kick? is there a rule like this? i cant seem to find the info anywhere?
I got a question how do u string a comob together cuz im doing trail challenge and some of these combos i cant put together
well, i should have also mentioned that such experience will improve your game exponentially. you can learn more in 1 match of a tourney than 10 casual games.
and as horrible as i made it sound, it’s a really fun experience overall, especially if you have/make friends.
I have a question, are quick fire jabs cancelling into each other or are they just links… or does it for some (Sakura?)
Any advice on choosing a main? Tis drivin me insane.
Are the combo buttons usually allowed in tourneys? The ones that combine all three punches and kicks. Also, are the arcade versions only 6 buttons?
it depends on the character.
for shotos, most of their weak moves cancel into themselves, except for standing short. usually.
what happened to gootecks’ site?
gootecks.com is gone and gives a blank-looking wordpress template deal
I know the arcade uses the 6 button format.
But does anyone think 3xPPP and the 3xKKK should be legal?
There is no such thing as priority. It’s just a vague notion derived from other properties of the moves. Such as: Startup frames, Active frames, Recovery frames, Invincible frames, hit-boxes, and/or hitable-boxes.
A jumping light kick may beat a hard kick because the light kick has less startup and hits the hard kick before the hard kick can hit you back. But that doesn’t mean a hard kick can’t beat a light kick if you get the hard kick out early enough.
You might say a Dragon Punch has a lot of “priority” because it seems to beat out everything. But a Dragon Punch doesn’t beat out everything because it has some sort of high priority value. Dragon Punches tend to beat out other moves because it has Invincibility frames. Moves are actually whiffing through the Dragon Punch, and then the Dragon Punch hits you. But it’s still possible to beat a Dragon Punch with good timing and careful positioning of the hit-boxes. (Though it’s still probably better to just block it if you know it’s coming.)
Beneath the pretty graphics, the game is just a bunch of rectangles moving around each other.
Depends on who ever is running the tournament. Since Evo started allowing in-game macro combinations, some areas have been letting go of the old rule. But it hasn’t caught on every where.
Yes, the arcade cabinet only has the 6 buttons.
If you’re worried about running in to a tournament that doesn’t allow macro’s, then you should practice playing with out the macro’s.
I don’t care. It barely makes a difference once you get past the newb-level.
Will players who have 8 buttons on their arcade stick have a distinct advantage over those that have the standard 6?
I wanted to hear from good players if they can perform better with 2 more buttons mapped to something.
Play characters until you find someone you like.
Two questions: Which character relies the least on FADC to be successful and when someone jumps over you like Vega and you’ve completed one QCF for your super/ultra do you have to do the second QCF towards his new position?
Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if it is possible to play as player 2 (right side) when creating a custom game. Is it possible to play arcade mode starting on the right?
May sound silly but while learning I find myself a lot better on the right side.
Thanks in advance.
- blanka, honda, zangief, sim, balrog… most charge characters.
- it depends on when youre crosssed up, you can do qcfx2 in one direction then delay the button press and it will flip sides automatically.
Network Status not always showing?
On Xbox Live, I don’t see any network status for other player like 80% of the time. Anyone have any idea why that might be? Something I need to change in my router? I can’t believe I am the only person who has had this problem, but I can’t for the life of me find a thread on it…
Someone earlier asked about Stun regen and I didn’t see a response, so here’s one: Turn on attack data in Training Mode and you will learn all about stun; how it regens and how it scales after each successive stun.
This happens all the time to me. I never see the connections in a Player Match and I rarely see the other players connection in Ranked Match.
Anyone know a good character to use if you don’t and probaly will never use a arcade stick or does it really matter?
