A character got banned because of one tactic that inexperienced players couldn’t guard against?
Am I reading that wrong???

Damn, I just had a flashback… Scary Larry?
Anyway, how does Vega beat Shotos again?
“Soft banned” is the key word here. Soft banning basically means that while nobody can forcibly stop you from using a character, everyone will think you’re a jerk if you do. Given that, I’m guessing there’s no “Japanese Super Street Fighter II X Rules and Regulations Committee” that decide what does and doesn’t fly in arcades. It was likely just the prevailing attitude of the time that Claw was cheap, and so, regardless of the fact of the matter, people elected not to use him rather than have everyone hate them for it. I guess it’s kinda similar to how some arcades were “no ticks” in the old days. Hardly an official ruling, but you wouldn’t do it unless you didn’t mind everyone thinking you were an asshole.
Preppy has kindly re-uploaded the Tomo teaches HF tape:

Can anybuddy CONFIRM if there is any way to use a joystick with the new Xbox360 version coming out? and if so where do I buy?
GamePro tips? NFI what you’re talking about there, sorry.
HF Vega’s jump is quick. Damned quick. Shotos trying to range you get dropped on their head all afternoon and lose badly.
2 options.
1: Hack a 360 controller into a stick.
2: Buy a 360 compatible stick: http://shoryuken.com/?p=14
Thanks elvis I just orderd the DOA stick, hopefully in SF options there is a choice for the stick… If Not I’ll just buy Doa.
You don’t need any special support for the stick. There’s nothing magic about it. And HF on XBLA will have standard button configuration like every other game out there.
All good.
soft-ban = everyone at the arcade will think you’re a fucking douchebag.
Yeah, I guessed that’s what soft-banning meant.
Still, if all you do is one move over and over, you deserve a group beating. Plain and simple. Play for fun, don’t play to piss people off.
yeah but Im guessing that you have to switch between arcade stick option or regular button config in the menu right???
No, you don’t. It supports it ‘out of the box’ you can change the button setup if you want just like with the normal pad. You don’t need to select arcade stick or anything since the game knows that it is one.
In a few simple words DOA4 Stick works with no problems in SF2HF on the 360.
Can someone please upload the Acho HyperFightng tourny July03 again.
I believe it’s in the Gamest vid you posted yourself.
Your whole thing with Vega seems to be game speed, which is artificially increased in HF. It’s the same in ST. He’s even more of a “twich” character in that game and you have to have mongoose reflexes to react to his jumps at the faster settings. His expanded set of normals and the additions of the anti-air forward flipkick and the knockdown effect to the Flying Barcelona Attack just made him that much better.
ok thanks
Again, I’m not much of an ST player, but to me it seems there were a few extra frames of animation added here and there for certain moves. I could be smoking crack of course, but even ST vega felt “slower” to me than HF vega, in terms of time delay between button press and the move connecting.
Once more… I plead ignorance to all things ST, and am probably totally wrong.
Honda is Vega’s counter character. I take it you have not played many ‘good’ honda players?
Some argue this match can go either way, whomever gets ahead on life first gets the win; but I can’t remember the details behind it, I’m not familiar with the match.
