The Sengoku Basara series Thread: NO POLEDANCING KASUGA FOR YOU!

Yeah I am not into “joke” characters like Sorin, I haven’t played Yoshiaki or Hideaki at all yet but I don’t imagine liking them much either. I can barely handle Shikanosuke and even then I don’t like playing him for long stretches.

I really want to be more creative with Masamune (CRAZY STORM IN THE AIR???), but Magnum Step -> Dash-Cancel -> repeat is so effective…

Masamune’s problem is even with War Dance he doesn’t have enough natural range or movement outside of Magnum Step to either catch foes around him or just stay out of danger. And while War Dance does add more range to his moves, he loses the ability to dodge, so yeah =/

I will always like playing him, and I think all the air moves he has plus them adding Phantom Dive since Utage really helps, but yeah he feels kinda weak in crowd control

Mitsunari’s Lvl3 R1 is still completely absurd.

I tried to do a grind stage, though I’m sure there will be better/much more optimized ones later on.

Maeda festival stage.
Mitsunari+X
Weapon with as many EXP+40% (had 3 when I tried a run)
Play books:
Double Enemy Hitpoints (2x enemy health but +50% stage evaluation)
First Campaign (Back level fo the stage1, but all EXP goes to inrou)
Complete Mastery (All skill and at max level + slightly powered up).

Pretty much push R1 and R2 until you max out the party gauge so that there’s an infinite number of enemies dancing in.
Got a 99,999 combo and 1200+ kills in less than 10 minutes (9 minutes including ~1 to max the gauge). Earned about 130K exp. Only danger is Keiji at the end.

edit: Totally just killed 2200 in the same time and only got 143K shared exp.
edit2: Oops, did that one on an easier difficulty. Got about 340k for that similar amount of kills.

bolded the part that confused me, what in the fuck is inrou? are those the special/consumable items that you can equip prior to playing a round?

Inrou is the shared experience deposit, Play Books are the consumables you equip beforehand.

gotcha. is there any easier way to unlocking/obtaining the “chance” items than just grinding and hoping for the best?

Nope. Change>Reset if you don’t get what you want.

On further inspection, I believe the double hp playbook and the Revert to Level 1 playbook both offer a 50% evaluation boost that don’t stack. Maybe the 4x damage one to boost killing speed…

edit: Oh, i got like 2x the kill speed. Literally 200 kills in one minute on the hardest difficulty. Keiji will fuck you up though, if you aren’t careful. Even before the x4 damage book he killed me in just an R1 after an hour of grinding before.

Motonari is nerfed. No longer highest dps in a game, at least not as easily. Can’t just put them in a corner and get the rapid juggle with one barrier, you seem to have to use two which sucks.

whooooooa Sakon’s exp gain up from gambling is so insane that with one run of Keiji’s matsuri stage(8k+kills) he went from level 74 to MAX(which I’m guessing means max in this game is 100). I didn’t use ANY of the bonus EXP stuff either, Sakon is probably THE way to go to power level for every character in the game.

Well, that amount of kills is going to give you about 999,999 exp (the max you can get at one time), so regardless of who you use that would max them out.

Also, Ieyasu is a monster. I never had much time to play with him from Utage, and didn’t care about going in depth with him in SB3, but I think he’s one of my favorites right now. His charging is fucking crazy.

His Triangle charge is just the greatest. 4 level of standard charge in 10 seconds. Hidden level after a minute. Hidden damage boost after 3 minutes. And he can transfer charges of it to other moves, cancel out of evades with it to have invincible advances, and cancel it into other moves at the start-up and retain his charge.

Tried to sleep. Couldn’t. Played some SB4.

It takes ~720K exp to go from level 50-Max. At a really good speed on the Keiji Matsuri stage, you can get 200 kills a minute and get the 8.Xk needed to get maximum inrou exp.
4X damage
Level 1 but all EXP goes to inrou
All skills at max level so you can actually do damage.
6 slots of +40% exp
Mitsunari because R1 and L1+Triangle are stupid. (or whoever anyone else wants to use)

I’m going to max out most of the characters this way. So yeah, pretty much just posted the same stuff I posted before.

I can like Tekai now because his 3rd R2 just gives him his personal item effect, and you can make your weapon absorb life after every kill. Plus, hella safety with tag.

Is there a way to continue Ieyasu’s headbutts indefinitely with proper timing? I thought I remembered reading that somewhere, and that it also could be done without the initial charge.

I don’t think it can go on forever, but at MAX level, it can go on for a decent while, at least considering its damage. You can skip the initial charge by just tapping R2 and he’ll do it.

Also, if you have a max charge on his hold Triangle, going into the headbutt will cause all hits to deal max charge damage, AND you don’t have to charge. so Rapid headbutts.

Ah, now it makes sense, that’s probably what I read back for 3/Utage. And that’s what you meant by transferring charges. Advanced Ieyasu, here I come!

I’ve maxed out exp gain in other instances and not gained that many levels, I’m pretty sure Sakon’s exp boost played a part in it.

Yeah when I found out he could use charges to cut time off the charges of all the rest of his moves I knew he was hella good. He’s just really annoying to play well without changing the button config, and as good as he is, I just don’t find him “fun”, no matter how many times I try him.

I’m not sure how then, since getting max exp/999,999 will take characters from 50-100 with around 200k to spare. At least from inrou, which shouldn’t be anything different.

I hold down triangle with my pointer finger and still hit square/x with my thumb. It’s painful, but I can’t bring myself to use an alternate controller config.

Well, doesn’t the “all exp to inrou” also give an exp bonus? I was pretty sure it did. Or is it that exp cannot go beyond 999999 even with end-level screen bonuses?

And yeah I do the same thing but considering that you need every button, that shit gets really tough on your hands

Inrou cannot go beyond that, but not storing it you can probably take in more with a character since they would take it all.

The good news to doing that, or even being some slight-movement-god and using the thumb to press Square, X, AND hold Triangle, is if you release it it’s instantly cancelable into all his other special moves.

Yeah true, but does the canceled-to move retain the pre-charge property? Like can you release full charge T early but then press R1 immediately to get a fully charged R1 like you could normally?
