Just got the funds to purchase a digital version. Fuck I’m so excited for this. Tag+All three R2’s+Buddy System. I can’t contain myself.

Yo I can’t believe how good this game is. All the old character are refreshed with have all 3 super skills plus they all have minor changes, and all the new characters are amazing. The stages are far better than they have ever been too, there’s some really fun ones and some are actually pretty hard.

Also, Azai is the fuckin shit yo.

There are ups and downs about the game. It’s definitely really good though. Tag is kind of broken. Which is okay.

I really miss personal items.

edit: Oh yeah, you can grab heavy characters now, Tadakatsu not included. Hideyoshi is really goddamn strong. Chaining between any 7 grabs up to 5 times with the 5th one being an upgraded finisher? Good god. Can even cancel the end of his BASARA if you get a succesful grab into another one of his grabs. Because grapplers, holy shit.

And Ii has a shit ton of moves.

Tag is way better than it used to be, it makes the harder modes much more manageable at much lower levels, but then they also made the game harder in general so I think it balances out. What don’t you like about the game?

I really don’t miss the personal items at all, for many of them, having all 3 super skills makes up for it, and for others they just weren’t that interesting anyway IMO.

I meant tag is broken good. Tagging out of hits, double tagging to cancel some things. It’s all good. However, I do think it offers a little less control since it has context sensitive transitions like with buddy calling. Sometimes I don’t want to be in the air after certain moves.

The weapon fusion system is really fun. I like that I can make any weapon the best, and not be force to use a joke weapon like in 3. However, I miss a decent amount of items from 3 which could help to make really cool combinations.

PI’s would even be useful for characters like Masamune and Kojirou still, since it would remove the limit/prevent you from leaving the form after being hit. I also don’t like playing Tenkai without it.

Oh, and the Mitsu/Yoshi stage where you guide the rams to the door. That’s literally the worst stage that has ever been in SB.

edit: I still really like the game. I don’t even really dislike anything I just said. It’s mostly just different and I’m not sure how I feel about them at the moment.

Oh, yeah I wasn’t really bringing up Tagging in difference to what you said, I agree it’s broken and fun. Definitely agree on the weapon stuff, I always hated that the strongest weapons were mostly joke weapons.

I actually never liked the PI’s for Masamune and Kojuuro(I think you meant him?) because of the no evade and block, and since you can use those skills at anytime now, and since I feel like evasion has gotten not only more important, but better in this game, I really don’t miss it at all.

Haha, I actually like that stage, it’s not too long and as long as you just don’t play it as a combo stage it’s fine. I do have some stages I dislike, like Kobayakawa’s, Mogami’s, and Date’s home stages but most of the rest of them are the best stages the series has had I think.

The only thing I have issue with in the game is fighting enemy generals. Like, I think the AI is a step in the right direction, like I just feel like they’re a bit more fun to fight, but for the lighter enemies you can just combo them to death before they’re a threat, but with heavies, especially Honda, you can really see bleh fighting the AI is. I would almost rather they make enemies versions of generals special AI only versions so that they can design them to be more action bosses. Especially since a lot of the DMC team is on this game.

The AI is definitely upped in a good way. Even lesser generals can do Just/Emergency Evades and stuff, which is cool. And if you don’t have a strong weapon with good def+ even grunts can wreck you on lower difficulties. Tadakatsu is fun in his own way to fight…sort of. He’s definitely closer to his SB2 difficulty. Also, holy shit do enemies go after your captured bases now. It’s actually a challenge some times to prevent it from happening, especially with the dual merged fan guys.

Personal Items could be pretty cool in come cases. Yukimura had a great one, since his mode is strong. Mitsunari made all of his moves come out at the cancel version speed, I THINK boosts the element of his weapon, and the buff to his R2 in it was cool. Magoichi shoots missiles because why not. It’s just something I liked to use a lot. A hybrid of SB4 inscriptions + SB3 items would be amazing. Hell, bring back SB2 armor stuff as well! And priming. I fucking loved priming.

Woah woah woah - you can start another grapple chain after the piledriver in his BASARA, or before? Hideyoshi is so broken in this game it’s amazing. Although you have to discipline yourself sometimes and not make the chain take too much time, otherwise you miss out on time-based stage bonuses, or have your captured bases taken back.

And I hated priming, mainly because the priming moves were usually launchers, which made continuing the combo after a prime awkward.

Yeah the regular mooks with all the new commander actions and enemy formations makes the actual stages sooooo much better. Like they’re enough of a hinderance that you have to actually pay attention to them and deal with them, but not so much that you’re frustrated(though I hate getting hit by the gatling guns, SO MUCH)

If you get the BASARA to proc the actual grab, when you land you can chain it into another FINISHER version of a grab. Even has 3rd R2 again. I wish there was a way to have a finisher version of his rock launch follow-up. Triangle, Triangle bro.

Priming was good for characters like Ranmaru with his lightning shot, or with Yoshihiros shout. It felt like it added utility to moves, since you could only have two at a time in the old games, it made it something to consider.

I feel like they just improved moves to the point where none of them really feel useless even when you can use all of them.

Also I wish they brought ALL of the old characters back, but I’m just glad Azai is in it

They made Nagamasa really cool. But fuck, the instant charge points on his moves can be pretty tight timing.

It’s pretty tight but I’m getting used to it already, I mean I can’t get it all the time but I can get the L1+T and f+T ones pretty consistently. Neutral T I’m decent at I guess, but hold S is hard with either version.

I’m curious which characters are people’s favorites as of this version? It’s actually really hard for me to say but Azai, Tsuruhime and Sakon are at least among them lol

Tsuruhime feels really strong for some reason. On normal a level 1 Tsuru kept up with a level 70 Hideyoshi lol.

Honestly, the only characters I don’t really like are Yoshihiro and Sorin. At least comparatively so. Hideyoshi is definitely one of my favorites. Kotaro has everything he needs (though no personal item means no retarded easy high combos.) I’ll answer the favorites question more in depth once I’ve gotten everyone to at least level 50.
