[details=Spoiler]It’s been hinted at, both in the games, as well as in other media (Radio Dramas, etc.), that Kojuuro definitely IS the better fencer of the two. But he doesn’t desire superiority, because he’s loyal and happy serving Masamune.
Plus, I think it was noted that Kojuuro values Masamune’s ability to be a leader. He wouldn’t be able to surpass Masamune’s charisma, if he tried. [/details]
This anime only pumps up my want for an inevitable SB3 announcement. They had better strike while the iron is hot, and announce that damn game by the end of the “Season”. :wgrin:
Only thing is…there’s still no word on if Capcom is interested in trying to market BASARA over here again, be it through BASARA proper or shudder “Devil Kings” again.
If they were going to try again, I would think a third game, which should hopefully serve as a nice series “re-launch” would definitely be the right action to take. Just like they did with Monster Hunter Tri.
Watched episode 6 last night, this series continues to get better and better, it’s far exceeded my expectations. Looking forward to Episode 7.
Kinda sad that
Spoiler
they killed off Hondam (especially since it was Yukimura’s fault), but it was a warrior’s death, for sure.
To the talk of relaunching the BASARA game series outside of Japan, said “relaunch” game (whatever it is) should come packaged with a tutorial DVD / Blu-Ray / something that explains the history behind all of the characters, and the significance of the events and stages in the game. This is something that Koei (to the best of my knowledge) has never done, although I don’t know how much history is explained to the player inside the games themselves. A beginner - level tutorial DVD would go a long way in establishing a deeper connection to the characters, beyond the initial connection made from their (admittedly awesome) designs.
That would suck if they announced SB3, because it’ll never come over here. Shit, SB2/X didn’t even come over here. Good thing the PS3 is region-free, I suppose–plus we’d get all the story necessary from the anime, I think.
The JP BASARA games have done at least enough to have a little “history” section, where you could read up on significance of certain famous battles and sites, like Yamazaki (where Mitsuhide fled after he betrayed the Oda at Honnouji).
But in any case, I don’t see them doing any more than that; and that’s if they even bother translating such things like that, for the sake of the West. Most people, especially Americans, don’t buy video games for History-channel material, and the BASARA series isn’t THAT adherent to Japanese history, any way. I mean, relatively speaking, you can learn about as much about the Sengoku Jidai period from BASARA, as you could about Goemon and the Edo era from Konami’s Mystical Ninja/Ganbare Goemon series. And that’s not all that much.
Yea ish sucks I wanted to play Basara 2 so bad I was okay Devil Kings was a completely different game going by what peeps told me but Im sure it’ll be fixed with the release of 2–nope we dont get that either. Like stop playing release the anime and video game set together for 75 bucks and Im sold
fuck it id pay 80 bucks for a serious Sengoku Basara game and these 13 anime episodes.
I’ve always wanted a Dynasty Warriors or Samurai Warriors Anime and Koei never did this. But I did play devil kings cause Im a fan of the story and history so with how Awesome this anime is I cant understand why they wouldn’t milk this with a quality game release also.
When will I be able to play with Keji Meada in a Basara game you know!!
episode 6 was crazy Im about to play Samurai Warriors 2 and go on a killing spree with Azai!! It sucks I wanna play Sengoku Basara but all i got is Devil Kings.
This series is like a touch of death to anyone who decides to sub it. First Tadashii quits the scene completely, now BSSubs hasn’t done anything in over a week (last episode they did was 8). I need my Basara fix! Ah well, guess I’ll just track down the RAWs.
PS, that news is awesome. I expect super-hero music to play once that event occurs.
