As long as they support the fans that DO care, which they do seem to understand exist since this is going to be a BASARA game and not “Devil Kings”, then I’ll be happy.
Didn’t some European game site report that SB3 is going to be English-only in the West, with no Japanese voice options?
That’s correct. So, like it or lump it, you’re going to have to deal with Reuben Langdon/Dante and Johnny Young Bosch/Nero being Masamune and Yukimura respectively in the English version. The cited reason is that they had to account for how the Wii disc media supposedly couldn’t fit dual audio tracks (which, personally, I think is a load of BS, but I digress).
In any case, I’ve been playing these games for far too long, such that I have certain expectations. Like Masamune-style Engrish. So I’ll just be importing once more, and get the Asian version at PA.
Yeah man, I can’t not hear Sanada’s JP VA. He is too awesome. Still getting the English release too though lol

It is BS…since Samurai Warriors 3 (Wii) already has Eng/Japn audio option, and online co-op.
That last sword duel scene was crazy! Geez this game has a ton of playable characters.
Man I bet he’s going to be alot more fun to play now that we don’t be limited to equipping two skills.
SB3 actually doesn’t even have that many. SB2:Heroes had 30 playable characters and minus 4 joke types they were all fully developed and unique.
We have at least 15 PCs, with the possibility of 1-4 more. Hopefully they can give us at least the total that SB2 had with 18 characters.
And for Koba and them to decide NOT to make Hisahide a Playable character in SBBH on the PSP for no other reason than because “they wanted to save him for a bigger game”? Hisahide BETTER be playable. Hell, I’m almost expecting him to pop in S2 of the anime, if for no other reason than because well…“no body”…
Oh yeah, Matsunaga, that dude really needs to be playable

Fucking bullshit. Why even bother getting the american version now, fuck that shit I’ll just rent it. Fucking waste.
Why? Because of no online? Online’s too overated imo. This game was made to relentlessly combo poor fools alongside the person right next to you.
This just occured to me…they released sengoku basra 1 over here…but i’m checking wiki, and it says that 2 never reached us shores…so why the hell are they giving us 3?
I said “american version” for a reason. I was already getting the asia release since it’s only $50, comes put in july, has JP voices, and now online play is no longer an issue.
The only reasons to get the US version for me were: cheaper overall, Eng voice, Eng story, potential online play. For price, I can stand to pay $10 more for the Asia version to get it two months early. For VA work, Eng is actually pretty damn good, but it is NOT as good as the JP. The story is still a rather important one to me, BUT I do not need to OWN the game to see the story, I can just rent it and play through the story modes I want to see once then return it. So the big issue for me was online play, because guess what I have friends that don’t live in this city or state, WHOA BIG SURPRISE.
So with no online play, I no longer have a reason to purchase it.
Well, 1 wasn’t even “Basara” really, and they aren’t calling SB3, “3” over here just “SB”. Devil Kings did poorly so I guess they figured no point in bringing SB2, but maybe by the time SB3 came out the fans got loud enough for them to try releasing SB3 AS “SB”
And actually, thinking of it that way I almost feel like I SHOULD buy the US release just to support it but I would play it for a few hours and then never again =/
So the JP version will have online play…but EU/Us versions wont?
I thought it was no online play across the board.
I’m getting the English version because I’ve only played the Sengoku Basara fighting game and watched the anime which pretty much wraps up my entire experience with the franchise. The English voices won’t really be a big deal to me. I’ll just pretend it’s the early '90s back when all of our games were dubbed anyway. At least the dub voice actors don’t seem as horrible as some other games. Magna Carta English still hurts my ears and that only came out a few years ago! Would kill to hear Magna Carta in the original Korean with subs but eh…
Nowadays I only import games I know are not coming to the US, like Jump Super Stars games or Shonen X Sunday because of confusing USA rights issues. I used to import a lot but not so much these days. I imported Super Robot Wars OG Saga Endless Frontier and surprise surprise that joint came out in the US so I had to re-buy it. I’m glad I waited for TVC to come out in English and didn’t bother hacking my Wii at the very least.
No, nothing has it. Hence my saying it’s “no longer an issue”
Well despite its “lacks”…I’m still gonna get this game for PS3.
I’ve already said that it isn’t fair IMO that there are certain things not there…but damn, it’s an SB game coming to the US.
I’m gonna support it, so maybe…just maybe…Capcom will continue, and improve on the next installment.
The thing that really sucks is that Capcom is clearly not paying attention to what their competitors at Koei are doing. A number of Koei’s US releases in the Musou franchise DO have online play. Hokuto Musou and Samurai Warrior 3’s Western releases will have dual voice tracks.
Not to say that Koei hasn’t done some outright silly choices themselves, but they at least seem to have some rhyme and reason to what they do…some times. That’s a bit more than what I can say for Capcom’s marketing of SB3 in the US. No online. No dual-voice track. They’re muddling some things in the overall translation of the game that are just outright silly: A generic “General Ieyasu”? Don’t you just want “General Tokugawa”? And “Magoichi Saica”, when Koei has had “Magoichi Saika” for how long now?
I wanted Capcom to do the damn thing when it came to marketing BASARA in the west. I’m not even that much of Historical snob, such that I wasn’t willing to look past such thing as the reversal of name orders and shit. But so many things just prove that Capcom has not learned enough from the “Devil Kings” episode years ago, and so, it looks very much so that if a Western BASARA effort fails this time around, it’s really only their fault (again).
DP but w/e, bumping for new content.

Every new S2 promo up to now, including the most recent one released today. 7/11 draws closer and closer!
I just thought of something. There has been no word of Hideoyoshi in SB3 has there?! Omg if not that’d suck. The game needs to ride off the strength of at least one “boss” character or “Lu Bu” since Nobunaga’s gone. I don’t know if Tenkai will be enough.
Also, I hope that do something with Mushashi or at least reference him. Upgrade him to true legendary samurai status like they gave Ieyasu the fresh hoody and Steve Fox boxing skills.
