No levels.
No classes.
A very mythos based game, that uses magical and mythological figures and places but takes place in the real world.
You join either the Illuminati (American scum), Templars (Eurotrash) or Dragons (Azns).
When you level you get skill points that can be used on their skill wheel. Where you make your character from over 500 skills.
Skills/Attacks are based on 3 melee, 3 ranged and 3 magic trees on the wheel. 7 active skills and 7 passives at any one time.
Melee - Sword, Fist, Hammer
Range - Dual Pistols, Assault Rifle, Shotgun
Magic - Chaos (DoTs), Blood (Healing), Elemental (Burst)
Here are a good video of “decks” which are premade characters you can try to build towards.

I just recently played the beta this weekend and it’s pretty fun, totally different.
Most missions have you investigating and actually looking for clues, which might bring in and lose players, since most people are retarded.
I remember this one mission where I found a dead ladies datapad and needed to access it, the clue said she kept the code as the first song the priest wants to play in the church. So I had to go to the church and look for the song listings posted to the left or right of the altar. It’s simple, but I could see people saying “WHY ISN’T IT POINTING ME TO IT?”
However it is a Funcom game, so I expect a rough launch lol
There are also clues you have to find on the internet that relate to the game.
And the 3 factions have to do their own investigations…

No idea whats going on there haha
I was watching vids and reading up on this game because the setting seems so interesting. I would like to try out the beta since I’ve heard that they’ve been improving in each one with active dodges and stuff.
I also saw the opening vids for each faction

Spoiler
Going into the past through a trance caused from getting a bj sounds way better than getting strapped to an operating table or from some back alley hobo magician using voodoo.
Played it for 5 minutes, had hella lag and PC chugging, fuuuck. Un-Install Tera got 60 FPS on decent settings, and I can hardly move on all lowest on this? o_O
I’ve been checking in on this game ever since they released that sick pre-rendered vid of the asian girl going face-to-face with the monster in her apartment. Not sure if I’ll end up getting it, but I love that’s it’s something different and takes place in modern times. Will probably wait a month or two to decide if it’s worth fixing my PC (running an iMac right now) to give it a shot.
Definitely took a while for this to drop. To be honest, I’m kinda disappointed in the gameplay vids thus far. I may need to see more, but graphically it seems to be missing something. I still wanna try it out though - the character progression seems right up my alley.
In previous MMOs that I’ve played for an extended time (City of Heroes, Champions Online) I’ve always played gun-toters with some type of secondary ability - pretty much like Cable. Even though these are just template builds, it looks like there’s more than enough there to get my feet wet and learn the system if I get this.
Ultimately, I think it’ll come down to whether I want to go AOE or single target. If I can put together a build that does both and plays to my style, I’d be all over it.
Man, I REALLY want to play this game, but I’ve got too much stuff going on as it is. The sad thing is that the launch may be the coolest time because of all the esoteric secret thing going on to promote the game. I think I’ma research this stuff tonight and preorder. don’t have to play it right away though.
I want to be an Illuminati healer roleplaying as a double agent trying to stop them. If that’s possible. So far, in any MMO I’ve seen it’s not. Here’s hoping.
For a good bit in WoW, I tried to establish myself as a double agent using emotes to communicated with The Alliance. Not enough real roleplayers to make it worthwhile.
There are seals in the game that make the factions work against each other trying to solve them.
I heard there was an option that you could sell out your faction by taking a certain “pill”, ending your loyalty to them and selling them out.
OMG, Odin. Why you gotta show me that. Awesome! It just makes sense that in a game like this swaying loyalty would be a factor, if even just a small one.
