There’s a lot of stupid trash talkin no backing it up gamers in here…yeah, most definitely, whoever
it was that made that call first.
On the subject of ROs…how obvious is it when a player picks a character like Siegfried, Astaroth,
Nightmare, Zasalamel, (and the rest of the characters with high probability for ROs) and then
proceed to pick a stage (even if it appears on random) that has no walls, what your strategy should
be? Even say, if you’re the same character type?
Stay in the middle, use GIs and parrys, or better yet use movement to completely dodge those
tactics and then ring them out. LOL (assuming the other player isn’t completely using
horizontal attacks…you know the drill)
The last part of my post is such ridiculous common knowledge, or atleast should be now
that SC is on it’s 4th installment, I’m surprised to see how many people still don’t use it. Or is it
that they’re just completely unable to? Tah.
yeah its funny how people don’t accept this basic knowledge when playing the game, I understand it’s the fact that they are letting habitual remnants from other games take over but you’re always gonna get people like that, while everyone else advances
If you deal with a strategic specialist as far as positioning goes (> myself), it really isn’t as easy as “parry, GI, stay in the middle”. I, and others who diligently play the RO, will have your back or our own backs at the edge at seemingly ‘whatever’ points of a match and you’re going out unless you know our own personal patterns well enough to “parry and GI” at a reasonable rate. Staying in the middle is the safest convention, but barring certain attacks that fling you about like a rag doll - you have enough on your plate positioning yourself for your own attacks rather than what we’re planning.
Not being offensive, I just wanna clarify for anyone who falls victim to constant RO’s that they don’t have to be accused of missing “common knowledge”. If somebody plays the RO, just like somebody who plays the CF or regular KO, will get on it like a man obsessed. There’s nothing to be ashamed of when you take that heart-stopping dip outside the ring.
Hilde gets mentioned often as a potential top-tier character. She’s definitely been one of the most successful in tournaments thus far, and of particular importance is that she probably has an advantage over Amy. Has a hard time against Kilik (Asura beats all charge attacks) and Asta (her combos don’t work on him)…probably Yoda as well since the B&B’s don’t work on him either.
Remember, button mapping is LEGAL in tournaments, so make sure to have two A & B buttons. If you press a button while charging it, you lose the charge, but at least you can still attack & break throws while charging.
basically what is meant to be said is you have to look at every movement strategically, like ST you wont/shouldn’t do stupid movements that amount to nothing
personally I just think a lot of people aren’t thinking enough, and are probably happy not thinking to that level, so the whole subject is void of constructive discussion because at the end of the day all you need to know are three or four essentials that you need to think/play around with
and there’s a big gap between who does and who doesn’t
So I’ve been getting bored of Mitsu recently and jumped ship to Lizzy and damn is he fun, but apperently, I’m not the only one. I was on this weekend, and every other fight in ranked was a freakin Lizzy mirror match. Either their cursor was already on the little gecko or they selected him when I did.
Has anyone else seen the lesser played characters getting more attention, or do you all still fight random kilik and cervy’s?
Lizard is one of the quintessential “SEE ME ONLINE” characters, along with Asta & Maxi. Even in live play he is very solid, though - some nice safe pokes, some trickery, and an insane ability to crush the soul gauge.
Is it strange or normal that the 8WR Hilde guide thinks she’s a mid tier?
I personally think she’s really good, BUT you have to work your ass off in order to do well with her. Her BnBs are relatively difficult compared to most characters (i.e. C3B->B+K->C2BB->C2AA), and her damage output is kinda bad outside of those long-ass juggles that can ring out from the center of the stage. Basically, you have to be able to ring out from just about anywhere if you want to win with her. She’s definitely one of the harder characters to get good with IMO (right up there with Setsuka, Ivy, etc.), but I can see good Hilde players doing quite well.
Do you post on 8wayrun.com? We have gatherings all the time. Lizardman is overrated Gimmicks. Trust me, stick w/Mitsu, he’s all around way more solid than LM. We also have monthly tournaments at Gamelot (on Bandera). We have a really strong community, we’d love to play you.
Syxx: Who did you lose to? Why aren’t you owning everybody?
This is Bushido, Nori, we’ve met all ready breifly like at one of the Gamestop tournies where I was repping Mitsu albiet poorly. I’ve still been posting at 8wr, just doing it real sneaky like, get in and get out ninja posts.
I haven’t had a chance to go back to gamestops either, been so busy with military life and all that. But thing’s have calmed down and I’m ready to get back in the off-line scene. Stupid Goverment… just becuase they give me money, they think they can tell me what to do!
And yeah, I’m noticing that while Lizzy is fun, during certain matches, I feel I’m having a much harder time to even put up a fight, whereas with mitsu I can see an opening and knew what I could have done. Maybe some of it is just I know Mitsu better, and I could gain that familiarity with LM, but he is also seems slightly undeveloped. Mitsu has two stances, with a plethora of stances change options, Auto-GI’s, great at mid and close range, and not without options even farther. Good stun combo’s, unblockables, nasty at wake-ups.
So, I’m not going to totally stop playing with Mitsu, but it is nice to have a brainless monster for a second or third back-up character. Plus its nice to abuse spammer on-line with nothing by LC A and B. If they are that silly to do AA or throws while I am on the ground, then they deserve it.
What char do you use? I’m assuming Thuggish used Amy? All I know is, Cervantes is top fucking tier and EVERYBODY should be trying to use this guy. He rapes more than half the cast and has no problems w/Amy. Only bad matchups so far are Asta/Taki. Please don’t tell me he used overrated Kilik, or Lizardman gimmicks…
yeah he’s quite good, check out one of my friends named LordJME, err… considering he hasn’t gotten rusty by now, haven’t played with him in over a month
