^ this. Ringout is a huge part of a lot of chars’ game.
The thing is, throughout the SC series, ring outs have been one of the best ways to help balance the big slow characters. Look at Nightmare, Sieg, & Asta, along with Rock prior to 4.
Certain fighting game characters are designed to focus on setting up that one big hit that wins the round, and that can add to the game without being broken when done properly. Hell, Nightmare is lower-mid in this one.
…sounds like a very ignorant statement; the ring outs adds another layer of strats and tactics to the game.
I guess I’m just biased torwards ring outs because 90% or the time I don’t need them and 90% of time they happen to me is when it’s clear I’m gonna win otherwise. Shit, it just happened to me 5 minutes ago.
I love soul calibur but fuck ring outs.
maybe he’s just not used to nightmare, my friend plays simalar to that nightmare but much more tighter, the fact that i have a punisher for every mix up and set up that guy was doing in the vid has made my friend a very tight nightmare player, you cant even get away with doing that barge crap.
training mode - record move NOW!
Nairdas: go and find some ways to punish set ups for ring outs, is good!
lol you guys know it is possible to like a game but not like every part of it
just sayin
last pages are like:
guy: "i hate getting ring (rung?) out"
everyone else: “die in a fire”
yeah looking at it now your right
TBH, even if you don’t like it, it’s part of the game and if you want to be good you’ll learn to take the good with the bad. It’s kinda like the guys back in the day, and even now, that cried “throws are cheap”, “combos are cheap”, “juggles are cheap”. Notice that no player that truly follows that mentality has ever gotten anywhere. Either you deal with it or you get used to being a non-serious player.
ive always been one to be reserved about talking about soul calibur 4 but i have to say that half of the game is getting confident with the area next to the edge of the ring, because of peoples complaints online ive always backed away from the edge of the ring
this is me, a player that taught my friends that in sc3 once you’re a few steps away from the ring your going off, it turned those moments into a mad mix up game that actually fed our mentality of our characters, also if you dont get the confidence you need near the edge of the ring you end up becoming like a one legged man on a tight rope.
because of my experience playing sc3 that way i havent had any problems with ring outs in sc4, but i probably would of won a hell of a lot more matches if i kept that mentality instead of worrying about upsetting my opponent, it has weakened me in that respect but I have been able to concerntrate on my in ring mix ups and mind games.
Syxx said seigs main game is ring outs, but iv beaten a hell of a lot of people online with seig and been called one of the best seigs online, and i dont ring people out at all, theres rare moments where my opponent is trying to ring me out and i apologise then chuck em out though
lololololol
He used to play me like 24/7. He has a LOT of NM experience; he’s just trash. He can’t stand the pressure when he’s being bulldogged and falling into people’s games/setups. I don’t play aggressive, so that gives him some room to try out his gimmicky tricks. But gimmicks can only last so long. The better player is always consistent with wins, as you can see from the majority of those videos.
PS: Concerning ROs, just up your defense. It’s not easy landing those ROs if your opponent had a solid defense. SC4 is a simple game, so the prioritizing of defense becomes key–it’s all that seperates the average “competitive player” who always places in the middle to low, from the ones who consistently get top 3 or 4. Break throws, block lows, read mixups, guess better, try to step/duck more than block (CF is dumb), land GI’s… it’s all about the basics. Stop crying and up your game. Aren’t you SRK guys always touting that “Playing to Win” article like it’s the competitive gamer’s bible? If you get hit by a RO move, you deserved it. Bolster your defense and make sure it doesn’t happen again. Don’t cry about it.
k, thx
^ You’re talking like upping someone’s defense would stop it completely. Thats just not the case. You’re going to get rung out eventually. Just the nature of the game. That doesn’t mean I have to like it one bit when it happens. I much rather have someone beat my ass til the point that all I could say is that he/she beat my ass.
life is nothing but past explanations of words in which each containing its own level and variations of experiences
thats half of the puzzle piece
Does anyone know where the High Quality videos are on 8wayrun.com? All they say is 8wayrun.com and I can’t find it on the forums. And it’s not linked on the front page or anything.
EDIT: Nevermind. I’m not downloading 7.21 GB lol. I’ll stick with the youtube versions.
The thing that bothers me is that while it is a big part of those characters games you can still get screwed with a no ringout stage. So if ring out is something that buffs the slow chars than would their tier change for these stages?
A bit, but then they get wall combos which makes up for it some.
You’d love Hilde.
Dizzynecro does have something of a point here. That’s part of why I don’t think Hilde is top-tier - she can get screwed by stage counter-picks. I think that element makes the game more interesting, myself.
I do know that Yoshi, one of the best ring-out characters, also has beastly wall combos, while Hilde’s combos get cut short by the wall, but I’m not sure how others fare in that department.
Aion, wanna practice some Xianghua?
Oh, and I’ve got two new Tira combos that both do around 100 points of damage.
They’re not too situational either.
if there was tag then-
please someone tell me I’m chatting shit here, someone tell me there are no benefits to the system if tag or team battle (pre and after round switch) was made available by DLC
