I’d say 8WR is the better site. I’ve given up on SC4 for now and gone back to VF (unless the XP happens), but 8WR is very well run, and mad props to Jaxel for it.
He did for the SC community what other games need for their communities.

Uh, Alex J and Akazukin are both very high level players and win tournaments very consistently and they’d most likely trash you if you played them tbh. Blackmamba is also really solid, even tho he’s only played DOA up until now, but Alex vouches for the guy on 8WR. The only one who wasn’t up to par there was CNP.
You’ve got to realize they HAD to use gamepads (sticks were banned, the times you saw sticks on TV was when they played casuals), play standing up while standing under the searing light of studio lighting (trust me, I’m a film school major, I know what those things feel like) and couldn’t trash talk/talk to the other guy/do anything. GGL and G4 also asked them to say a lot of shit they didn’t want to and Alex was furious from the whole experience pretty much.
As I don’t really consider SCIV that great of a fighting game to begin with, I could care less if they could trash me in this game. It’s no skin off my neck. They really shouldn’t put up with stuff like that if they’re supposed to be really good. The way you talk, you make it sound like you’re on their level too.
Don’t start with me this hearsay, this guy could beat you crap. Because that shit goes nowhere and in the end; Who the fuck cares? Did I boost myself? I didn’t think so.
This kinda relates to a discussion I’ve had with people before re: banning Algol & Yoda. Basically, the SC4 community wants to follow in the footsteps of DOA and get into all the pro gaming leagues, so they’re willing to ban characters and put up with whatever else is necessary to accomplish this. As fighting games get bigger, don’t be surprised to see this happen with other games.
Also, on a more general note, Legit B&B’s for all situations as well as crazy loops & wall combos.
Yeah, while it might be good for publicity’s sake, it damages the integrity of the community itself. It shouldn’t happen. Good players dumbing themselves down for the sake of TV and “major” leagues is not something I’d be interested in. Although, money and fame do talk.
is this the tournament?
it is a great fighting game, extremely well made and the mind games are delicious :lovin:
Hey, uhm I just got back from College so anyway.
Anyway Siegfried is my main, so naturally every random scrub that I play online hates me. My Sieg is above average. I’ve seen some better ones online(Rarely, but there are some better ones)
Anyway, I’ve been getting troubling “complaints” lately via microphone by guys that are mad that I keep using the same combos or whatever with Siegfried. I try to switch up my combos, but a lot of stuff does look the same. I was about to learn Cassandra and Setsuka before I left for College, but I didn’t really have the time, so right now I’m settling for what works.
Does it say more about me, or about them about the tactics I use to win? Some people would call it spamming. I fight almost exclusively in his neutral stance, and his royal stance. Out of these two stances, I use his launcher(3+B) a lot, and mix it in with the Horizontal attack out of the royal stances where he sweeps the sword around his upper torso twice. I also use his knees out of the royal stance a lot. Occasionally I’ll switch it up to one of the side stances for access to his low attacks like the sweep and Double Beta Grinder.
IT just irked me since I got through playing some scrub ass Nigga who I’ll blacklist right now for all of SRK named AiryRug. He had 4 wins, 0 losses when I went in the room. I rape him with Siegfried and he complains that I’m doing the same shit over. I got through 2 more scrubs, next time over, I get to him again, rape him, and use different moves, like my signature 6k(stun) into 1b(The kick stuns, the second hit is the command grabish move where Siegfried impales them, lifts them ups and slams them on the ground).
So I can hear him talking shit over the mix(My mic’s busted), saying that if he wanted to be cheap he could do something like that with Zasalamel. So I send him a message, and this is what I said word for word:
“It’s a fighting game. Use what works. You’re a scrub ass nigga. Only a scrub would complain like you are. If I’m doing the same moves over and over again, if you were a good player you would actually learn from my tactics and actually win a round which you weren’t able to do, but instead you complain, lol. You’re probably a scrub ass nigga, that plays Soul Calibur every now and again and things he’s good, just because you can beat players that are even worse than you are at playing Soul Calibur”.
If I clearly know a player is worse than me, I’m not going to give him the royal treatment by switching my style up. I’m going to go straight scrub buster, and take him out as fast as possible. Now if I was good player, obviously I would slow down.
there’s nothing wrong with spamming cos it’s better for him if you do, but it sounds like he doesn’t know how to learn how to counter moves, when I used to play online I rarely ever got complaints because I always did something different that worked and was damaging, hell I used to beat people with seig easy without doing his most damaging and mind numbing tactics, keep changing up your dance… your movements will show your skill of your character, find a nice stun combo (not 6k into 1b cos thats a ring out move) once they see your powerful stun they’re usually glad your not doing it afterwards
but really that’s me trying to help you getting rid of scrub complaints, just ignore them and laugh because they don’t know how to play properly
hah i don’t think sc4 is that great of a game either… but its fun… its a good tournament game imo. I played it last night but got real bored and went back to HD remix though lol
Yeah use what works, a lot of my freinds online after they ringout me start apologizing lol! I’m like dude calm down its part of the game and I dont care if you ring me out and dont expect me to apologise if I ring you out. I also dont get how they always bitch about throws, you can duck them AND tech them with a very large tech window.
SC4 Community Project is here!

Youtube quality doesn’t do much justice. D/L recommended.
peace enjoy
Kinda wish people would stop posting the Gametrailers link. It wouldn’t bother me if the video quality on that version were better and/or it contained a link to us. But what can you do? Haha.
Once again, here’s the “official” youtube link. :looney:

very nice
Now that I’m starting to get decent at her combos, I’m definitely making Setsuka my main. Might as well put those Guilty Gear skills to use. =P
She seems like a rather simple character strategically, you just need to be willing to spend hours in training mode. And I dunno if it’s just me, but she seems extremely good. She has so many good, safe moves that lead to combos (33B, 1B:B, WS B, 4A), her lows are decent, and she gets better overall throw damage than anyone except Asta. I can see her having problems against the characters who can tech the A+G combo, but I’m not sure what her major weaknesses would be otherwise.
You can see her best lows on reaction, that’s her main problem. Besides her throws, she doesn’t give you a REAL reason to duck. Most people don’t think she’s very good, but I do agree w/you, she is (if you can land all of her Just Frames). If you’re good at 2D and have good reaction, Soul Calibur is the most piss easy game. Been playing it on a national level for 6 years, trust me.
Hey guys, I just picked up the game for ps3, and in the options, there’s an option to put downloaded music into the game as a customizable soundtrack, I think. Every time I try, I get the message “Unable to locate downloaded songs/music”, despite the fact that I have over a gig of music on my ps3. What gives, and does this option in fact allow you to have custom soundtracks? Do I have to dl the game’s content to my hd before this option will work?
Only works with the DLC soundtracks that you have to pay for, sadly
Is there a folder I can navigate to or something?
I was having a problem with my cousin* (she “plays” Maxi, masher-friendly character…and by “playing”, I mean she just goes nuts on the buttons) Once I got my parry/repulse skills back from my SC1 days (I played SC2 MAYBE a week when it came out, after that, no more Soul Calibur ANYTHING until this week), I easily put her down…she was loving this the game for the last 2 days, but now…
*I know, getting beat by a scrub, and a FEMALE scrub at that…but the changes that were made to Maxi are something I take notice of due to my limited experience with SC2. He’s got SO much more compared to his sc 1 counterpart.
I just got this game, but i have played abunch of times with friends. I am looking for poeple to play who live in ohio, newyork and michigan area of the united states.
