so i just got back from touring the campus for and i must say that is nice. i plan on attending ucsc now. just wanted to get an idea on the colleges i should be recommended to stay at. any suggestions and why? i was thinking of stevenson, college 9, college 8 respectively
I myself stayed at college nine. Best dorms IMO (newest), and according to the majority of people the best dining hall also. Should’ve got some games in when you were here, haha.
okie one more question. i chose stevenson as my number 1 even though i didnt get a chance to see the stevenson dorms because of a scholarship that they are offering to incoming freshman. how would you guys rate the dorms and dorm life at stevenson?
I don’t know that many folks at stevenson, but the ones that I did know liked it there. And if you get lucky, you could stay at one of the dorms with a nice view.
If you get one of the new dorms it is better of course.
If you get one of the old dorms it sucks.
Also I’m not sure which college(they are both next to each other), but stevenson or cowell has nice apartments last time I checked in.
Also college nine/ten apartments are very good. Also college nine/ten dorms are good enough.
College eight is fine I guess. I like eight’s dining hall, it’s more suited to what I want to eat when I would go to a dining hall.
Nine/ten dining hall sucks for dinner… my opinion. Best breakfast though. At least nine/ten has fresh(ish) fruit and veges every day. But it is very nice otherwise.
Also there are lots of places to buy fast food like stuff on campus. The best is gone though, the taqueria is no longer on campus.
I’ve timed it several times now, it takes 35-40 minutes to get to svgl with little traffic, relative to rush hour, after one gets acquainted with highway 17 that is…and as long as one’s car is meant for taking turns faster than vans and suvs.
okie. since im an incoming freshman that means i wont be allowed to park my car on campus which means that the family says i can’t take my car. is there an efficient reliable way to get to svgl to svgl excluding the use of carpooling with someone? i.e bus, train anything and if so is the system hard to learn?. cuz yea i kinda want to check that place out.
The mass transit system is stupid and slow. Only buses will take you to sj, and then you’ll have to hop buses at least once to get to svgl.
Better to just get to know people and carpool.

no… buses = crap in santa cruz neiman… it will take you hours upon hours to get there… carpool is the best…
u can take ur car there… u just park it on the streets and take the campus bus to the bottom and walk there… its bout 15 min walk… or u ask an older person to buy the parking pass for u… but its rpetty expensive…
