I haven’t played this game since shortly before they announced the balance patch, due to how uneven the game felt. This just makes me dread its future.

damn, i didn’t even really struggle that much vs him. but this pretty much gg’d him far as i can tell. condolences…

What version of SFXT did they use at UFGT8? If Jwong/Ricky managed to win it even with a nerfed Rufus then all hope may not be lost for the character. Sure I can still beat the online scrubs but I am still having doubts about how this Rufus will survive in a competitive environment.

UFGT8 was pre patch. I think it’s the last major using the old version.

so what changes are you wanting for the balance patch next week?

For the balance patch, I would like for Rufus to have a command throw like Hugo where he throws the opponent of the wall for a full combo. I only want to be able to get about 400 damage off of this midscreen. Or maybe an air fireball like Akuma but be able to cancel it into a divekick for full combo. And I’d like his divekick to do much more damage when hit high up. At least 150. All that weight falling on someone’s neck should have much more damage. Oh and perhaps a teleport like Ogre so I can surprise people on the other side when I’m in scramble battle and have it hit both sides and be an overhead.

These seem reasonable buffs I would also like his crouching hp to hit at fall screen.

So I know days latear but I got like top… 150-100 or higher at Evo. Made it out of… a pool filled with fucked killers. I actually didn’t enter but my friend needed a partner and basically… Rufus :). None of it was streamed :frowning: not even winners finals of pools.

My Rufus patch wishlist

Cr Mp 3-5 Frame start up and large hit box :slight_smile:

Close Hp comes out farther instead of wiffing far Hp :frowning:

Snake strike faster recovery so if you AA you can land a tc after and be rewarded for a risky AA.

Give Rufus alt outfit as Kazuyas purple suit plus the Hair haha. Imagine it’ll be like fat kazufus haha

Lol, you fool! Rufus is beast in this version! Just gonna guess you didn’t actually get to play him in 2013. I love him more in 2013 than I did in last patch. Almost like playing ae except i dont have to worry about my ex messiah going over someone. Id say easily top 5 character.

He was my main with hugo, I guess I will try to replace one or another if I feel nerfs too severe.

And “plays like AE” is not a good thing in this game.

HIs divekick got nerfed to shit. It used to be that i could dive kick people in the head, have time to smoke a cigarette and still go into my Cr.lk chain. Now ts below waist or nothing.

Damage and CHIP damage for galatic tornado got nerfed.

Just for the universal grab buff you think it benefits Rufus THAT much?

The ch crHP was already there no? And the divekick was punishable before the most recent 2013 patch that I was referring to when I said he has gotten better. To guy; … perhaps i am wrong in saying rufus has gotten better. His damage nerf was definitely a bummer,BUT I am winning more than before. I’m sure you are wondering how in the world is that possible right? I shall explain. The BS strings being nerfed, except bison for some reason, dp switches being more unsafe, and just overall cheapness being taken out is just wonderful. I hated fighting zangief with rufus. Now it’s MUCH more bareable. His matchups have gotten a lot better in my opinion and I prefer him here more than in ae. I’ve always played more of a defensive rufus so the update is great for me.

Just started on Rufus today so forgive me if this is old, but I believe I’ve found a strong setup after HKDs in the corner with him. After the HKD (sweep, forward throw) immediately perform a backjumpxxDivekick as fast as you can. If timed correctly you can

  1. react to rolls with a throw
  2. hit meaty with either overhead or c.mkxxHP.Tornado to prevent jump-outs, mashed lights and mix up
  3. set up a tick throw
    4)block/backdash to stop dps (long range supers and CAs still hit).

It is possible to do these things just by staying still, but I find the whiffed divekick helps in timing and consistently getting the perfect spacing that allows for both the pressure options and roll punish.
