World’s funniest english man is bringing another one of his shows to the US, this one originally started out as a radio and podcast is now an animated show in the US.
Gervais is still living on the hype from the office, he isn’t actually that funny. Plus all of this american interest has done nothing but delude him into thinking otherwise.
The Office and Extras are amazing, havent seen his new movie, his standup is hit-and-miss.
'Nother good british comedy act is a duo called ‘Mitchell and Webb’. They do their own sketch show, and also have a sitcom called Peep Show. Check em out.
That’s interesting, that you’ve heard of David Mitchell and not Robert Webb. I guess he does do much more solo stuff than Webb does these days (only thing I can think Robert Webb did was this Comic Relief ‘Flashdance’ parody:
But yeah, the series that broke both Mitchell and Webb was ‘Peepshow’:
It’s great stuff, I haven’t seen all the series’ (there’s about 6 or 7) but mostly it’s very funny.
And they have their sketch shows:
They have a few and are called variants on the “Mitchell and Webb” theme, such as “That Mitchell and Webb Look.”
I’m a fan of Gervais but this show has like one real funny part per episode and that is it. It’s basically 2 guys making fun of a stupid guy who doesn’t do anything to defend himself. :wonder:
But I’ll still watch or record it because it’s sandwiched between Smallville and that Tim cartoon. Now that Tim cartoon is TOO FUNNY!
Yeh, its more entertaining as a radio show. I’m not very keen on the cartoon look (other than the reconstructions).
Maybe if they sliced it up with some stand up it would be more entertaining. Also I reckon if they had a live audience, where people could chip in it would even better.
I have to admit that the last two episodes had me laughing a few times. I may be getting used to the format, or maybe it’s growing on me, I dunno. :looney:
Anyone watching this, last 2 episodes have been a lot better! Tthis weeks ep was my favourite of the season. Karl’s stories were brilliant, tempted to google some of his “facts”
Guess having no money and not getting any action changes your sense of humour, since remedying both of these predicaments I’m actually enjoying the show quite a bit. Karl Pilkington outshines Gervais and Merchant though.
I stopped watching it about two episodes ago. I think it has funny parts to it but it really feels too long for a half hour for you to sit there for a few funny parts, all involving Karl and not the other two. Maybe this works better as a podcast. It really feels like if you’ve seen one episode you’ve seen them all.
