Hey guys, having a identity crises atm…I know for sure I wanna be using Raven and have been rotating Ryu/Kaz/Lili (Ryu most times). I’m having trouble finding a game plan with Raven. I know his not a rush down char but is he sim type char? Any thoughts would be great

Maybe I just suck but for the life of me I cannot perform the cr. lp -> cr. mp -> hk alter ego combo. He always just does a close standing hk at the end. Any tips?
That means you are chaining the normals, you need to link to special cancel into non EX moves.
Why are you doing that anyway? I don’t know of any combos where that is optimal haha.

Thanks that helped. A lot. It’s surprisingly easy now, lol. Stuck on 16 though. cr. hp, wind cross, doppleganger. What’s the timing for wind cross? If you cancel it out of cr. hp, it whiffs. If you do it late, well, it also whiffs. Is it like a single frame link or something shit stupid like that?

Jump around and throw shurikens randomly and then do st.jab walk forward st.jab a whole lot if they get close. You’re on your way to pro level raven.
Already salty in the first month of the game? Instead of complaining about it, figure out how to beat it.
It depends on the matchup. Against grapplers, it involves a lot more shurikens and zoning. You can take the fight to them but it’s not really in your favor since your only reversal is like -13 on block and if you switch cancel it’s a free punish. Against everyone else, you can play footsies with cr.mk and go for shuriken teleport mixups. One thing I think every Raven should do in the footsie game is to throw out cr.mk and charge cancel it for a split second to see if it hit or not, if the cr.mk hits you get a free wind cross, if it doesn’t, you can backdash safely.

I just loled at “Raven is not that good”.
What kind of character is Raven? Is he more of a zoning type or a rushdown type? or a little bit of both?
A little bit of both. He has st jab is ridiculous and his back mk string can help apply some pressure up close. His shuriken a good projectile that can frustrate a lot of the cast. His teleports are what really makes him good a hit and run tactics. You can hassle someone with shurikens and teleport in or cancel a block string into teleport. One of my favorite tactics is to end combos with a couple extra cr hp instead of alter ego and cancel the last cr hp into teleport. You push them towards the corner and then teleport full screen away where they have to work their way back towards you. Or you just set up the teleport mixup. If you react to a raw tag you can react and puns hi as well.
Raven has a lot of leeway and can be played however makes you happy.

5m13s - Raven throws 4 projectiles then appears to use qcf+mk as you can see a blue blur above him, but he just teleports forward. Anyone want to explain what I’m seeing?
Raven is simply doing a MK Alter Ego, the recording software must be picking up only the frames where he is invisible rather than glowing blue. Zangief was out of range to be hit by it and punishes with the spd.
