The "Rape Culture" Thread: Stories of jocks raping people and getting away with it

A rapist is going to rape, a thief is going to steal. No one is arguing that because a woman consumed alcohol that that was the sole reason for rape. If you flaunt your wallet dangling out of your pocket by a tiny chain and walk around a bad neighborhood, you’re not making it any harder for thieves. If you willingly consume a lot of alcohol in a place where you don’t feel 100% safe and know everyone, there’s that element of danger that someone may be there just to find someone with their guard down

Alternative article with more info, including that the rape was filmed http://www.kansascity.com/2013/10/12/4549775/nightmare-in-maryville-teens-sexual.html

if you’re gonna get black out drunk, do it in Japan

They’d rather fuck anime characters so its safe

This. Since the feminists are brandishing their dungarees for equal rights I say fair play, no more white knighting if the bitch isnt acting responsible! Also imagine the guy really didnt commit this alledged rape and got sent to jail?

Wonder what the odds are for a young white male to remain a virgin in a US maximum security prison? Am gonna have to guess anything between 0 and lol.

Omg u guys want people to be responsible for their own well being, holy crap stop all the victim blaming!!

Anyways, Anyone else wonder how many calories are in an ounce of cultured rape.

You were asking for it by wearing an avatar like that.

None, its suga free baby

resisting rape could be the new p90x. worried about your weight? just find someone willing to rape you and work your ass off trying to not get raped! i need an infomercial.

A gaggle of giggling, drunken teenagers turned into a stupid and unfortunate situation. Who would have fucking guessed? By the way, since I steadily slip into unconsciousness whenever I read ridiculous arguments in these threads, I’m just going to say something general without reading whatever schlock was spouted prior.

Rape culture is the single STUPIDEST concept that is brought up in these discussions, as the implication that rape is, in any way, shape or form, condoned in Western society is fucking RIDICULOUS.

I did get a good laugh out of the title, though. Good work on that.

Rape culture exists. There are parts of this country where they will blame the victim first before blaming the criminal. There have been examples for years. Hell, there was a link posted up just a few posts ago. Get out of your bubble, sir.

Um, what country are you talking about lol!!

Unless you are clearly talking about male students being raped by their teachers because that is the only thing I have seen that fits that description.

What warped definition of culture are you gauging this with? A minority amount of people in a state or city telling somebody to avoid a situation a rape culture does not make. Going by that logic, any ridiculous minority opinion is in fact a ‘culture’ and an epidemic in society. A culture is a collection of ideas and behaviors that meld together to form a whole, not a singular idea shared among a couple of people. For example, if we used the age old stereotype of the South being racist, would we thus call that race culture? Racist culture? No, you’d call it Southern Culture and say that a part of it is a hatred for other ethnicities. Nobody is denying that there are segments of the western world that share the opinion that you shouldn’t put yourself in an unfavorable position, but the idea that condoning rape is such a large facet of the way the world/your country works, to the point where it is a ‘culture’, is fucking ludicrous.

Sooooo…

He’s having sex when he’s drunk- He’s responsible.
She’s having sex when she’s drunk- He’s responsible.

Yeah?

The obvious answer is that it should be illegal for women to drink, since they are not consenting adults.

According to the article I posted, the girl was offered a drink, drank it then woke up on her front lawn. That isn’t excessive drinking, that’s a date rape drug

but if they’re not drinking then how would we ra—i mean have sex with them?! you didn’t think this through, homey.

I would love to say that you shouldn’t take a drink that you didn’t see poured yourself, from someone you don’t know, but that would just be victim blaming wouldn’t it

In this case, like most rape cases, she did know the guy

That’s unfortunate, and I really do feel that it’s a fucked up thing for anyone to experience. At the same time, I still stand by my point that there are a lot of people who could have prevented their case by using better judgment
