The Rap Thread: News, Reviews, Rants & Opinions: Volume 9 - Yes, we know "Hip Hop"

Son streets of rage intro is arguably one of the greatest video game songs of all time . It had that 90s action movie feel along with that house feel thrown into It.

Then you should enjoy this then

Check out the guys page… has damn near all the soundtracks an extra goodies.

Honestly video games soundtrack wise may have improved to be more cinematic and epic. But they lost out on Alot shit they used to do good like soundtracks. Like I wish more games did real soundtracks not scores In the sense their is a wall of sound that is highlighted By the action going on around it . I know games have evolved beyond having stages and set pieces they but man they don’t capture atmosphere right espicially with fighting games sf4 has a garbage soundtrack.

^cot damn, everything done fail the hell off after 2000 it seems like…

remember this:

I think its because Alot of current games are made n set up with a Summer movie formula. Gears of war and CoD could easily be translated into major movies. To make a complete soundtrack for a game you gotta analyze level design ,character design ,setting and themes present. If your making a brawler set mostly at night in the 90s you can pull musical inspiration from going to seedy clubs, looking at the current fashion and attitudes etc. We don’t see too many games set in the real world besides shooters gta style games.

If you can’t find good video game music from the 2000s, you aren’t looking :P.

Both from 2011. But I do agree about too much scores taking over in general. This convo seems similar to thoughts about another genre…

EDIT: @ElChupa, you stay on a roll with these quotables, I agree that more soundtracks and less scores need to be made for games…

Practically all I’ve been listening to lately has been music from and inspired by video games.

I’m liking the direction of this thread.

You know what it’s funny u bring up three strike because around that time Sega was using trip hop and hip hop beats in Sonoc Adventure both of those games were trying to bring their respective franchises into the new age and both were dream cast console exclusives.

I miss Dreamcast,I still have mine…

hearing this in the arcade was straight  status

I’ve been getting tired of my songs on my player and been searching youtube for some old stuff that I may have forgotten about and came across Foxy Brown.
I forgot how good that girl can flow.

These three are my favorites.

I was also looking for one song I remember it was by a bunch of Hispanic rappers. I can’t remember any of the lyrics, but I remember the shit being hot. From what little I can remember of the music video there were some flags and a beach.

Yeah but once in awhile folks are gonna talk about VG music in here and it’s correlation to hip hop
