I am a Hampton Alum… and yes becoming a member of a fraternity on that campus is all about Status…i pledged when I was at Hampton. Honestly I enjoy my fraternal bond more on the grad level then in undergrad…
I don’t know how it is now… but when i was in college a decade ago… it was totally different… I am third generation NPHC… my grandfather was an Alpha, my father a Sigma, and i am a finiancial member of I -PHI-T… man the parties, the women, the community service, road trips, business connections… I could go on and on…brotha having flashbacks… Step Shows were actually about stepping back then… not all this you got served dance crap I see now…
the Delta and AKA question… Never saw a difference…people are people…

I like this. JDilla’s samples are just too good.
I would smash Yaris with more force than Thor’s hammer. But on the real, the older I got the more well rounded I became as far as women goes.
true, i remember watching that interview with her talking about lloyd banks that she was with him at that time or whateva. Then i heard Banks response making light of the situation like Yaris wasn’t anything special.
I joked with my friends like that nigga gotta be gay cause at that time shit maybe even still today i’d wife Yaris lol
pm please lol.
DEAD
What’s y’all op on hbcus as a whole
Something doesn’t sit easy with me fucking with a video chick, same with strippers.

Naaah, there is all that but I still think they are boarder line gay. Not sure how the black dudes are, fixing each others hair and dressing each other, lol, like the white boy ones.
Plus they change people!
its another trick to separate the rich from the poor, not to mention each frat is known for being a certain type of “guy” lol
shes from austrailia, lol
Beat is cool
She said ASAP rocky was smashing that… lucky dude…

I hate to say it but honestly I think that time has passed… I understand there was a time when minorities could not attend PWI’s. In today’s time I think society has matured to the point where the hbcu should become more intergrated or drop the label.
Like i said earlier, looking at this generation of greeks the Game has definitely changed…I know my chapter had the women taking care of us…lol, and honestly its not really seperating the rich from the poor. Two of my line brothers were given money by various grad members to pay for intake. My orginazation was all about scholarship, leadership, citzenship, brotherhood, and fidelity… fellow men who had same interests and wanted to work in the community. The frat just increased our collective resources to reach out. About the stereotype… one thing I enjoyed about my fraternity was we had no sterotype. We did not let the letters “make us”… The guys I crossed with were the same guys I use to hang out with freshman year…Honestly Greek membership is an acquired taste… I had history… that was one reason why I became a member. Besides , my org does not haze… we are the only ones without any lawsuits……
So my question to you is do you think masonry is also utlized to seperate the rich and the poor?

lmao
The beat is sickening. I threw her to the side but now I’m pressed. She light nice for a white girl too. Not that old wack ass V-Nasty shit.
And I went to an HBCU (North Carolina A&T circa c/0 2005). Heres the thing about HBCU’s
- very easy to get a 4.0
So get some bomb ass credentials in 4-5 years and you are shoe-in for top notch grad with the best of the best. I have a homegirl at Columbia, a homegirl at brown, a homeboy at Yale. Lol. I took a break from traditional college and studied at Le Cordon Bleu to become a chef. But I do have plans to go back to grad one day. Its like a dirty secret that all the smart black kids know. Go to an HBCU. Not for the history, for the easy foot in the door.
As someone who went to both an HBCU and a PWI I can tell you the differences.
PWIs
PWIs are more organized. Getting registered for classes is easy. Getting registered for classes is pure unadulterated HELL at an HBCU. It took me 8 minutes to get registered for class at a PWI. It took 2 and a half days at an HBCU. It wasn’t one time thing. It’s always bad.
PWIs generally have access to more resources. There will be more resources readily available to use on campus, and PWIs tend to have more modern campuses than HBCUs.
The problem with going to a PWI is a Black student gets treated like a Black student, instead of simply a student. This is by both students and faculty. Having to deal with racist professors is a headache on top of all the other problems there are for a college student. Fighting for one’s grade is extremely frustrating. One professor didn’t even read my work, and just gave me Bs. Then, when I turned in my paper without writing my name on it, I got an A. Fancy that. I was able to deal with that kind of thing, only because I was used to it from high school.
Even though there are more resources, at PWI, where it comes to special internships and study abroad opportunities, it doesn’t exactly mean minority students have access to them. Being a qualified applicant and getting accepted into those programs aren’t the same thing. Networking and being on good terms with professors and admins is 10x more important at a PWI.
PWIs are overall much less expensive. HBCU tend to be private and have high tuition costs. That, coupled with the fact that Black student who go there aren’t minorities means that there is less scholarship money. At a PWI it’s easy to get a lot of scholarship money.
PWIs are far more LGBT friendly.
At some PWIs funding for the Black/Minority student leadership group is great. At others, the students have to beg and still won’t get a bone.
PWIs tend to have proportionately higher graduation rates. I’m skeptical of PWIs that have extremely small numbers of Black students, because some of them take advantage of that fact and commit false advertising. HBCU have proportionately higher rates of students going on to get their masters and PhDs.
HBCUs
At an HBCU, you’re not a Black student, you’re a student. There’s worlds of difference between the two. I could write an essay on this alone. The way you’re treated and talked to is simply different. Are some teachers condescending? Yes. But they don’t think you’re a lesser person just because you’re Black.
Each college campus has it’s own unique sub-culture, but the sub-culture at an HBCU is very different from that of a PWI. The environment is a lot more competitive. The tradition of the college, and tradition in general is emphasized strongly. Black History, and things that affect the African Diaspora are regularly discussed. Not in a preachy in your face way, but as simple facts. Overall all a very, very different campus culture from a PWI.
There are usually Black resources (Barbers shops, Soul Food restaurants, et cetera) close to an HBCU in the area, while they aren’t always accessible at PWIs. Not having a barber shop close by is terrible. And barbers will lie about being able to cut black hair. Homecoming is also guaranteed to be amazing, and the football games tend to be a lot of fun.
While PWIs have racism, favoritism plays a big role at HBCUs. You’ll see that frats and sorors get a lot of undue privileges. Some staff at HBCUs will lie about how much financial aid you’er due, in order to give more to their friend’s kids. It’s illegal, but they get away with it, because students don’t know the difference. Not all of them do it at the same rate, and PWIs do it as well, but some HBCU staff get way to greedy. That’s how Morris Brown got shut down. Stealing financial aid meant for students.
Internship placement and trips abroad are much easier to get at an HBCU.
With the exception of Morehouse, girls outnumber guys anywhere from 3/5 to 1/6 to one on HBCU campuses. Girls at HBCUs are very competitive.
People want to see Black students succeed at HBCUs. If you’re straight up with professors they will help you out. They’re going to make you bust your ass for it, but they will do a lot to help you go far. Advisors are usually much more engaged with students at HBCUs. The fact that teachers really do care makes a difference.
Overall HBCUs aren’t for everyone and neither are PWIs. Some people can’t deal with the stress of a PWI, and others can’t deal with the competitive pressure of an HBCU, or they don’t feel like they fit in. For further info, watch School Daze, if you haven’t already.
Unless you major in Math or the Sciences.
Also, if you’re used to being the most knowledgeable person in your circle of friends back home, prepare to be surprised.
HBCU I felt like the teacher cared a little bit more and they kept it a little more real, even the white teachers.
Financial aid also looks out earlyyyyyy.
False, thats entirely dependant on what your school’s ‘good at’ and what your major is…ask the engineers at Morgan…I was NOT the only one not rolling in 4.0s.
I’ve harped back and forth so much on the HBCU arguments I’m not sure I want ot get in it, especially as I’m getting ready to close my laptop, but I do want to say that I wouldn’t mind them dropping the labels and just maintaining their focus…some could even grow, but even doing that, they are typially majority black schools so communities outside of the black communties wil lstill sum them up as HBCUs. to this day Iswear up and down that the education and posabilities I got at MSU for engineering were leagues ahead of where they were at UMD:CP. And I’m not saying that as someone who bombed - I did awesome in my engineering classes. It wsa the other classes I’d rather play Blitz 99 & MvC2 during.
