I’m glad I’m not named that way. Saves me time. My parent’s had plain names and they got their time wasted. I remember my parents were all set to look at a house, everything was going smooth, until they showed up. Then it wasn’t available. Yet it managed to stay in the paper for another 2 weeks. Being named the way I am, I know that when I get a job interview, I actually have legitimate shot at the job. Racist people will chuck my application in the trash when they see my name and frankly I wouldn’t want to work for their asses anyway.
Wow. I never even looked at it that way. I’ve never been turned down from a job or anything because of my race (that I know of), but I guess an obviously ethnic name can be a filter.
My name sounds like a nerdy, uptight white man. When I use to go to interviews in my younger days, the look on those white folks face was priceless.
