Lud’s album was supposed to be just him and Shawnna going back and forth on each track, but she left DTP for Nappy Boy (T-Pain’s label) so Luda had to change the formula and bring in Minaj, Trina, etc. to fill out the roster.
Wayne is not lyrically on par with biggie currently. 10 years ago When he was 17 i’d say he was close if not on the same level. ( yall need to hear his squad up stuff)
Wayne has a massive catalog to pick from biggie has two albums. Biggie could have gone on to be just as wack as well every other Rapper after there 2nd album. I think you’re reaching with this one, Wayne can definitely pick beats. His beat selection has never really been an issue in his career. He was getting beats from Elvis Freshly for most of his career, Carter II had a bunch of nobodies on it production-wise and the beats were fire, then on C3 shit was auto-pilot status because he had Kanye, Swizz, Bangladesh, Alchemist, etc. When you have those guys making beats for you, you can blindly pick and come up with heat.

Honestly, making a mixtape is a billion times easier than making an album. All you have to do is pick whatever beats are hot at the moment and rap over them. Your raps don’t have to follow any type of subject matter at all, you just have to spit. You don’t even need to write a hook, you just loop the beat and rap until your heart’s content. Creating an album is a whole different beast because you need to actually pick good beats on your own, write songs, write hooks, etc.
That’s why most of those great mixtape rappers (Cassidy anyone?) can’t make a good album to save their lives.

take away DMX’s last 2 albums and his catalog shits on just everybody not named “eminem” imo. that said, eminem clearly has the best catalog in terms of classic/great to total album ratio. even his “wack” album is still dope. after i guess i’d give it to hov or big (born again was dope imo so i’m saying he had 3/4). if i was counting mixtapes i’d throw in 50.
I disagree about that DMX statement. As far as I’m concerned, he had one good album (It’s Dark).
I also disagree on Em. MMLP was good. Eminem Show was good. SSLP was OK. Everything else… meh.

As for Em? The only album i fuck with is MMLP. Eminem is dope but, I don’t feel his subject matter. Rapping about, jerking off, taking shits and all that other dumb shit isn’t hot to me. Again, he can rap his ass off but…his subject matter is too out there for me personally.
