Don’t expect any transparency from Capcom on this, and don’t expect anything less than the most spectacular stupidity when dealing with this issue. From this article posted last month:
Let’s think about that for a second. So someone who wins as little as 30% of their games and quits ALL of the remaining 70% doesn’t “fit [Capcom’s] criteria of Rage Quitter”, to say nothing of someone who’s good enough to win the majority of their matches while RQing say half of their losses. It’s astonishing how braindead Capcom is acting here.
I rage (not really just didn’t want to deal with it) quit a laggy match, and now I haven’t been able to find a game in like 5 mins, although I didn’t get any warning like they said would happen. Maybe the timeout happens after every disconnect, instead of after having a high percentage.

And what happens to the person who didn’t rage quit? I’ve read a few posts that say the innocent person gets put on that 120 minute timeout as well. If that is the case then Capcom is beyond salvation. Why would you release something to piss off your community even more? Please tell me this isn’t true.
I’m gonna find out. Off to ranked matches I go.

Got RQ’d on 3x in a period of 10 minutes. My LP points are the same as they were before the match.
My results are not matching up with the Gief in the video.
Let’s see if I can get RQ’d on 1 more time. Curious if I too get the punishment banner.

I burst into laughter the moment this shit happened to me. I don’t think this nigga cared about points. This appears to be authentic rage. Dude seemed pretty free after I got the hang of his playstyle. I was high as fuck so I decided to troll him and see if it would be a success.

I really hope whatever this new system they got in place is doing some work, and the majority of the ragequiters don’t know about it yet. The reason I say that is because my online experience tonight has been awful. Hell, it even seems like the ragequiters increased dramatically if anything since the patch.
That patch isn’t going to do shit. RQ’s can keep the points, so they don’t care if there’s a time penalty for doing it.
It’s better if after many rage quit you have to wait 120 mins and lose 70% of your “LP”! Can be good for fake platinium!
So…their fix is to put people in a “time out”…but the RQers still keep their points and the non-RQer isn’t awarded points for the match?
Fuck Capcom. Seriously. They’re completely incompetent.
The new rage quit “fix” is no good.
First off it will only slow down the ragers, because you can still ragequit a short amount of times before getting timed out, and not only that, they still retain their points, which is what they want. Real desperate ragers will figure out how many times they can rage quit before the game kicks them out.
Second, Sometimes I get this bug where the game disconnects at character select screen ( only my thumbnail appears and the other characters thumbnail is blank and then the game crashes ) it happen to me a rare two or three times in a span of an hour and I got banned for 2 hours
Third, some people may be forced to disconnect at the start or in the middle of the match ( if the lag is extremely terrible or if they are forced to leave and can’t finish the match ) But these type of exits are still seen as raging and may get you timed out.
This is why I mentioned before that they should implement a system that detects people quitting either near the end of the match, or at least after the first round, and apply point deduction to those type of ragers.
But at least Capcom is doing “something” even though I think this something is a very poor execution, I respect that they are trying to address it.
The only time I RQ is when the game bugs out and find me an opponent and as its loading the character vs screen it will say waiting for opponent like it’s trying to find me another match. During that time none of my buttons work. I can’t cancel the search its doing so I’m forced to disconnect.

Am I the only one that thinks losing a ranked match shouldn’t result in a loss of points? I think that would give the quitters an incentive not to quit. I mean the majority of rq’s are from people not wanting to lose points aside from the ones who for whatever reason rq in casual matches. But I feel that would also make for a better online experience as it takes the pressure or stress away from losing. Of course that could just be wishful thinking on my part.
