^Completely retarded strawman that I should’ve expected out of someone like you. From my first post I stated that there are good points to patents and copyrights and they shouldn’t just be done away with. Look up in the dictionary to find the difference between “revise” and “remove”, thanks for playing.
That plot actually sounds more plausible than Sailor X vs. Cunty Horny, which is an actual comic. You can get away with making that kind of plot if you are creative with your naming scheme, like a Gen13 gangbang parody called Gen69 but of course you should pick a different number because Gen69 actually exists.
Yes like comparing cancer cure to some shitty books and movies is a good comparison. Looks like there is a hold on your Old Yeller and 101 Dalmations Fan fiction porn movie you wanted to make but now you can’t. Maybe someday you can legally make it??
That was cute sweetheart :lovin: you’re so cool.
Why differentiate between a cancer cure and popular media? Surely the hypothetical scientist(s) who created the cure should be able to hold it indefinitely and if they die so what? Billions of dollars and hard work go into medicinal innovations, so how come a sow like you can get the benefits of someone else’s hard work in medicine when you didn’t do shit to create it?
edit: Btw, for those whose brain works above the level of a two year old, I obviously support protecting an inventor, which is what patents were originally for. They should protect the person who actually invented the creation instead of the first person to file. They should allow the filer to make a profit off of their hard work, and after a point others should be allowed to make use of the invention(and of course this is should be longer than just a couple of years, which should shut the cheerleader up). However, granting a patent in perpetuity till the end of time is the most retarded thing I have ever read. There are many things we use that are sold to us by different companies that are imitations/small innovations/exact copies on an original design that they did not create nor own the rights to which didn’t impede the original inventor from making a profit. Though there’s also many cases of the actual inventors getting screwed by patents due to some idiot ripping their design and filing the patent first. Obviously there needs to be some type of overhaul with the patent system considering this problem and many others(as well as tailoring patent lengths to certain fields, in which innovations happen at a much faster rate such as Soviet’s mention of the medical stuff)
I did not think I had to explain this, but SRK’s randroids never fail to surprise me
The ego trip you get for calling one of your downloading peers online/irl a CRIMINAL is only slightly more potent than viagra.
You very clearly don’t understand what the words “public domain” mean, neither in context nor literally.
“Domain” of the “public.” As in “owned by everybody.” As in “I can make an original work with public domain characters that everyone owns, though the exact details/particulars of my work belong to me.”
One of my spec scripts is “Oz Must Die.” It uses public domain characters everyone owns (e.g., Dorothy Gale) and characters I own (e.g., the very particularly named militaristic leader of the flying monkeys who wears a beret and speaks with a French accent and no I’m not joking). It belongs to me. The Wizard of Oz belongs to everyone, and nobody is stopped from using Dorothy Gale in their own work. They can’t just rip MY work, though.
Now, as for this whole hate on the idea of public domain itself; that’s silly. Copyrighted work already is yours until X number of years after you die, then it becomes fair game for everyone (again, the “public” and “domain” things). I think it’s totally damn fair that for the rest of your years, your shit is yours, and remains yours until well after you’re dead, at which point it is in society’s benefit – hell, CULTURE’s benefit – to bring that shit to the people.
^Also on patents, let’s not forget that a patent expiring doesn’t mean your invention becomes worthless, it just means you’ve lost your legally granted monopoly on it. You can still make money off of it, you just can’t bar anyone else from doing the same or further innovating from your original design.
So yeah, let’s stick to actual facts instead of hysterics about freeloaders.
Yes I do. I own characters I didn’t create. I can take Night of the Living Dead and do a DVD release and sell it in stores. I am part of the public, I have no hands in creating Dorothy Gale, except now I own her and can do whatever I want with her; new stories, rape the original vision of Dorothy Gale by her creator (e.g. I can make her a lesbian who loves shoving baseball bats with nails up her vagina), whatever I want.
Sounds like a great idea!
If superman was public domain, nobody would go see the movie that was coming out because people would rather see a semi improvised version filmed on an iphone by amateurs in poorly fitting costumes. All those millions of dollars spent on actors and special effects would be wasted because of a couple of free loaders enchanted the world with that scene where superman farted on a lighter and set himself on fire.
oh no. there isn’t enough free-domain music for me to sample in my music.
What about WB, Universal, and Fox all putting out Superman movies at once with their own interpretation of Superman which ends up oversaturating the market and killing Superman worse than Doomsday?
most of that imitation shit happens because design patents are very easy to file, and they don’t get thrown out very often. Utility patents are the real bitch they often take 5+ years to run through the patent office and are prohibitively expensive for most inventors, and with the addition of first to file laws the little guy is at a extreme disadvantage in terms of being beaten to the first application date.
It doesn’t matter.
People won’t have any way of telling which ones are good and which one are bad, so they will have to see them all. They can churn them out year after year and people will continue to be forced to see them, all while providing great revenue to the spandex costume industry. Its kind of like zombies. Zombies are popular, and all kinds of people make zombie stuff, will people ever get tired of zombies? No. They always will be at the forefront of pop culture.
And do you see Haitian witch doctors crying about zombies being stolen from them? Because I do. Every waking moment. Screaming at me.
zombie movies are killing it at the box office and people aren’t tired of the oversaturation of them
you got me there
Corporations will always be alive and kicking. We can allow companies to exist as long as they’d like, but they can’t own an idea forever.
remember the death AND return of superman, he always returns
SHIT, copyright laws might affect the canon of comic book heroes!! now i am invested in this issue
the new 52 every week
How different is that really from Disney/Marvel putting out a Marvel movie, and then Fox putting out other Marvel movies? Both are their interpretation of the same universe. I don’t remember Peter Parker helping NYC during Avengers…
Superman is a comic written and drawn by dozens of different teams, and portrayed in various movies, comics, and cartoons. Each with their own view on the subject matter. Just look at Batman as well. People like Frank Miller took the character to places most people didn’t know existed.
If we can let Tim fucking Burton rape Alice in Wonderland, Dark Shadows, Batman, and Planet of the Apes, and even more so Hollywood itself to remake upon remake upon sequel upon reboot, who really cares if in 50-150 years some really big Street Fighter fan makes an amazing game enjoyed by all future generations, that just happens to have Ryu and Akuma in it? I dont really see Nintendo going that nuts over people making custom insane Mario Bros levels. There are diseases we haven’t cured because companies own the patent on diagnosing it. And we are still abusing copyrights to make sure only Disney can ever be allowed to be involved with a fictional character we have all known since birth.
if people are so talented why not just make some original content instead of a repost?
