The Programmable Stick/Pad Thread!

Does anyone know if these also work with a PC to USB adapters? Or if a specific adapter works while others don’t?

The point of having the LED visible is to see what you’re programming. Since it’s kind of complicated at first, you’ll need to see what you’re doing.

If you use it without the adapter you wont be able see the LED…And if it’s the adapter that lets you connect a 9v source (total control?) the buttons will be mapped out incorrectly.

There are 208 actions meaning those actions can be turned into commands and told how long each command to be held. For instance:

Action # 1 - Down; the length is 001 (one frame)
Action # 2 - Up; the length is 001 (one frame)
Action # 3 - Pause; the length is 003 (three frames)
Action # 4 - LK; the lenght is 001 (one frame)

Of course you can just make action # 2 (up) to be held for 4 frames instead of adding a pause but in some combos its better to have pauses incase something goes wrong etc.

As for the PC > USB question:

PC -> USB? I don’t know what you mean so I’m going to assume you mean PSX->PC. I use the radio shack psx->pc adapter and it works fine (except you can’t see the LED). Also I’ve tried like 3 adapters (minus the total control one) for PSX->DC and they’ve worked except you cant see the LED.

My auction is ending really soon. I’m really hoping it stays at 2000 yen. If it does then I wil be really freaking happy.

it sucks to hear that the led doesn’t show up with the radioshack PSX–> Usb converter. ah well…

Would this work? It seems to have a power cord for DC
http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=55&products_id=1697&

and in the faq it mentions drawing power from the USB as well.

Yeah Magnetro, in the other thread you posted about a feature that allowed the

user to input commands in real time. I just wanted to know if the Hori Command

Stick PS is Capable do preform this feature. If it does. How would I set up the

stick preform this function. If it does’nt have this feature well I guess I’m S.O.L.

and will have to do the math. Peace

[Mario Gomez]

P.S. Zach I might as well should place another order. Seeing as the thread is going

to be flooded with so many of them. I want an ASCII programable pad doesn’t

matter if it’s command pack or not. That way I can have my homies help me out.

Instead of tryingto go lone-wolf.

If Eidrian is OK with it, I’d rather have the pad. If he sees this, I want him to know that I really appreciate his help. So thanks a lot, Eidrian.

Also, I got some doubt about the “easier with a stick” part. Is it easier to program? Because if it’s to play, I don’t mind having the pad. I’m probably gonna save it to do just program combos anyway. But the pad would be better for me because its much easier to carry.

And Magnetro - Thanks for the clarifications. From your first post, I understood that the best combination would be this Total Control (I got it from the link on the first post) with one of those power adapters. So, assuming that I’ll buy the ASC II pad, what do I need to see the led and, if possible, have the buttons mapped correctly (which adapters)?

Thank you so much for all your help guys

nevermind…found the answer to my question.

dangit, any tips on getting the Ascii Pro V pad to work on a PS2? The lcd lights up (for the speed of the auto and turbo), but none of the buttons work (start, select, x, o R1 everything). I got it working for the PSX (PS1 though…)

<edit> This is weird, it works in the Player 2 port but not the player one…

Yeah, i suggested getting the stick cuz it can be used as a real stick, but if you want the pad, then it’s np with me.

Cheers!

Toxy: Masato-san got your auction item, has your address, and will be shipping it out on the 8th or so. I’ll email you with the exact total when I get it.

Thank you so much for your kindness, man. And also a big thanks to Preppy for doing all this to the community. I hope I can come up with some nice stuff to share with you guys!

It looks like the ASCII pad auction was canceled… maybe because it was too cheap… ? Hopefully it’ll be relisted.

Hey - what’s this?

Quoting joo’s exact words: “that is poor program pad”

Well, I can go with a stick or wait for the next pad. If you want, you can start bidding closer to my max to keep the auction open. Thanks for all your help and I’ll be waiting for any news.

UPDATES:
Majestros: One of your two Hori auctions got randomly canceled. You just won the other one super-cheap, though.
Fighter: The pad is still for auction, strangely. So I’m putting you back on that.

I believe we may want to ask Joo nicely to shill bid on the super-cheap auctions so they stop getting canceled.

Current state of auctioning:

If you want to bid, please send an email to zachd at microsoft dot com with:

  • What EXACTLY you want to bid on
  • Your maximum bid price (figure that the total cost will be about +$30 for shipping)
  • Your address —> Our friend in Japan is using that address, so type it really clearly.

That’s great, Preppy. Thanks a lot!!!

Took some time to play around with mine finally tonight… fairly straight-forward to figure out how to program against the pad (I haven’t bothered to look at the instructions yet - it’s all very logical) - just programmed Tron’s rectangle jump and the drill (I max out at 29 against Cable…?). I never really had to think about recovery frames before - these controllers are pretty stunning when it comes to the level of gameplay analysis you can get into.

An unpowered Total Control adapter will give you mismapped A1/A2 buttons (mapped to L1/R1 instead of R1/R2) and no LED readout. A powered Total Control adapter will give you mismapped buttons and the very critical LED readout.
A Total Control Plus adapter will give you correctly mapped buttons but no LED readout.

I would probably think that if you don’t have a powered Total Control adapter, you should not invest in a stick. Programming WITH the LED is logical but takes a while. Without that… ggpo. You can certainly do it, but reediting/tuning your combos is going to be fucking impossible. Please buy a Total Control adapter and power adapter for that if you’re going to get a stick - otherwise you’re not going to be able to use your stick effectively.

New auction of a ASCII Stick 3 for interested peeps. I think everybody right now is waiting on ASCII pads - hopefully we can find more of those, but … these things are hard to find. =\

Current state of auctioning:

wonder what will happen with the total control 2. http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=206&products_id=149 I might get one to try it out.

Hey Zach I’ll call dibs on the ASCII stick 3 ultimate .Thx
