The Problem with SFxTK?

I dunno honestly… I kinda like SFxT since I can get my Gief on and have a good zoner to cover his weakness.
On the other hand, I kinda hated S(S)F4 because of how slow and boring it was. Mind you yeah, there are fast paced moments but all in all its more about who can zone out who more.

The timer is an issue, sure, and the DLC I dont really care about outside of Jack. The ideal this game is some kind of capcom abortion is a little off-putting considering almost all games went through a period like this. Why can’t we sit back and enjoy the fact that you can dive into either game? What is so bad about SFxT that it makes the Sagat fiasco of van. SF4 disappear? Or the MSS from MvC2? Its not like every game has been a gem and all of a sudden SFxT is some kind of morbid sight that no one has ever seen before.

All I’m saying is remember that its a work in progress, and all fighting games have had a rough patch in their early times.

BUT BUT ITS ONLY BEEN 3 MONTHS AND EVERYTHING HAS BEEN FIGURED OUT, AND THAT IS MORE THAN ENOUGH TO KNOW IF A GAME IS GOOD OR NOT!

Not sure if uninformed, or just trolling/sarcasm… >_>

Its been 3 months and its constantly changing with balance patches, not to mention the over 1k combinations of gems, endless tactics and such that still lie beneath the surface. After every patch, its back to day 1.

nah im just regurgitating statements I have heard people say, which baffles me.

Would be nice if they at least made the game playable on PC. And not in the horrible way they handled consoles, where they fixed the sound issues by making the game just laggier overall. I just want to play the game with friends argh. Also an option to turn off custom color schemes would be nice. If you like dressing you guy up all neon etc good for you, I can see the appeal, but the novelty wears off quickly for others.

All of my colors are plain and boring just like me.

Word. At least PC doesnt have that bright ugly neon stuff yet…plus you can actually edit colors if you are into the modding and all(so we can edit them out once they get there) Still waiting for that patch though…When I find someone with a good connection they become an insta-friend!

I didn’t even think about that… we can shut those neon atrocities off on PC.

That also reminds me I need to play on PC more as well.

Yea plus the players are newer, so if you arent pro with the game yet, its an easier learning curve since it is so new on PC. You can play some people on PC that also have xbox/PS3 and get smoked pretty bad, but vs most PC only players I fare much better.

This game has MANY problems, but the biggest one to me is simply that it’s fundamentally based on the concept of "PAY TO WIN".

It was also obviously rushed, along with as much poor PR (a sexist reality show, blatantly lying about Couch Co-Op to Xbox users, Disc Locked Content including characters shown in the trailers and much more.)

a thread with negative opinions, better lock it in typical SRK fashion.

My gosh, the people sitting here and saying “this game has been through its rough patches too! like all other games were!”

Sure, SF4 and MvC3 started out bad, but it was not THIS bad unacceptable. And truthfully speaking, vanilla SF4 is/was leagues ahead of vanilla & current SFxT. And don’t you forget that. You need to check yourselves and think about if what you are saying makes any sense at all, and consider the facts of the majority rather than your own personal opinion.

So you said Vanilla SF4 started out bad? Then why were Daigo, Mago, Tokido, Momochi, Ricky Ortiz, John Choi, Nuki, Choco, Sako, Uryo, Shiro, and every other respectable fighter playing SF4 when it came out? If you claim that SF4 was “just as bad in its early stages” just like SFxT, then why didn’t all of the pros drop SF4 and go back to hardcore 3S or complex CvS2? And did these players go back to 3S/MvC2/CvS2 at all because Vanilla SF4 was pretty bad? No. And did they go back to 3S/MvC2/CvS2 temporarily and waited for SF4 to update itself to SSF4? Uhh… nope. Yeah, that’s right, it’s because Vanilla SF4 is still a better game than SFxT. Any day, anytime, always, and forever.

SFxT still needs work. Assist gems? Paid gems to have higher advantages? Locked DLC content? Boring timeouts and lame juggling combos? Seriously, wake up and put yourself out of your misery, and stop lying to yourself into believing this game is actually good. If you would all just be honest with yourselves, the fighting game community would be a much more intellectual one. Seriously, let’s all somehow tell Capcom that they really need to stop screwing us over.

Oh my bad… let’s have multiple threads discussing the same issues ad infinitum.

I totally see where you’re coming from. Well, I guess this is where we have to part ways. It’s been fun and I’ll definitely see you in some other forum. Au revoir.

Your interpretation that this game is pay to win is wrong btw. It’s pretty much another confirmation of the misconception that people have with the gems in this game. You can buy 'em but they’re not mandatory. If people started running this game seriously and the way it was intended with gems, it’d be the stock gems or at most all the free gems. The game is balanced around the extra bits of damage here and there, that’s why it’s tuned the way it is right now with the universal damage numbers.

Plus I’m sure nobody has really bought those gems. Most definitely didn’t rely on them to fight their way to the top of the online leaderboards. Most of the paid gems are swap gems that are exclusive to one faction or the other.

If SFxT came out in 2008 instead of SF4 I’m sure a lot of people would’ve played it. It would’ve been like the newest and heavily played game since Third Strike about a decade before that. SF4 Arcade release? Exclusive console characters? The way the games came out were totally different. I don’t think this game would bomb if it took SF4’s place in the arcade first with no hackers looking for “on disc content” and then Capcom continuing to toss in more stuff for $$$ later on. Hella people complaining ab out ultras, useless ultras, FADC shenanigans being too good for some people and guess what… they played through all of it… learned it… and the game is what it is today despite a lot of those “issues” still being in the game.

Those top players had nothing new to play. So of course they’re gonna jump on this. Arcade release, new game in a decade, fresh interpretation of the game in 2.5D, and all this nostalgia amounts to a ton of hype.

SFxT is simply, IMO, a pretty good and respectable fighter on the baseline. It’s just a bad work of PR and bad decision to do console exclusives for Sony.

I’m sure too. I am also sure if SF4 came out after SFxT in 2012 people would be like wtf is this garbage, knock someone down and its game over…throws are OP… lol + many other silly criticisms.

You take your opinions for facts. Timeouts being boring and juggles being lame aren’t facts. They aren’t even arguments. You don’t say why time outs are boring or why juggling combos are lame. You just say they are. And even if you did explain why you believe it is boring and lame it would still be an opinion of some random player and not a fact.

Are assist gems stupid? Yes. Was locking DLC on disk a bad move? Probably. Could the game be better? Sure, I don’t think anyone said otherwise. So I guess we can agree on certain things.

But if you’re going to argue things like “wake up people this game sucks” and “vanilla SF4 is a forever better game than SFxT” then you better provide arguments other than: “respectable top players played that game when it came out and they didn’t go to other games so that proves I’m right.” No it doesn’t prove you’re right silly. There were simply no other recent fighting games at the time. SF4 was it. It’s the game that revived fighting games and the arcades in japan. SF4 didn’t suffer from the current cannibalism/extreme competition that now exists in the FGC. A lot of respectable players play SFxT. And the reason why they also play other games is precisely because there are many new fighting games now. And not because SFxT, Skullgirls, KOF or SCV are bad or worse than SF4.

Because it was the ONLY option as far as Capcom/SF games go, after a decade-plus hiatus. SFxT came at a particularly bad time, right aft–

…nah you don’t want to hear all that.

El-oh-fucking-ell.

I’m just going to put this out there because I’m tired of this being the de-facto, go-to argument.

Myself and quite a few people are playing this game because* despite *Capcom doing some dumb shit, the core game is actually damn fun. I’m enjoying it more than pretty much everything out there right now, and I’ve played a lot of fighting games. A LOT of fighting games. Personally, I’ve been riding the KOF and Tekken bandwagon for years and still will.

Oh, so sorry if this one time I’m actually enjoying a Capcom fighter over the other offerings out there and it happens to be one that you don’t like.

^ yeah it’s pointless to argue anyway. I suggest you don’t go further on. don’t be like me, getting into trouble with the SFxT fans. hahaha

This game is fun. I actually enjoy it too. The juggle system and rush down mechanics is pretty cool. But just because you and I still enjoy it, it doesn’t mean this game is great either. It’s fun at best, and by far moderately competitive, but by contrast to a true competitive fighter, this game is “too fun and campy” in a sense that it cannot be taken seriously. Compare SF2 to SF EX + Alpha. EX was a fun game, cool characters, interesting playing style, but it is no where near tourney worthy or really truly engaging in a competitive sense. Don’t get me wrong, SFxT CAN be competitive, but it’s level of competition is very very weak on thin ice only because the way the game was made.

Too bad that never happened, therefore wishful thinking like that does not even exist. Proceeding further your argument doesn’t mean anything. Lol, and if that were to happen, I would rather hop onto SF4 than SFxT.

I agree.

Denial.

Yep.

You all already know this game sucks, yet you’re asking for more reason. You’ve been around the forums and you’ve seen all of the criticizing posts regarding the silly mechanics of the game. You’ve seen it from day 1. Yet you ask for more? Are you in denial? That’s what I mean by waking up. How much more reasoning do you need? Don’t you get tired of asking over and over? Submit your mind into understanding that, and you will answer your own questions.

Again, why is this thread still open? This is not a discussion thread. And anything that’s been said in here has been dissected ad nauseam in other, sanctioned, threads.
